Who: Mitsuru Kirijo and OPEN
Where: All around Cancer and Virgo districts
Summary: Christmas shopping, basically. More like Mitsuru failing at Christmas shopping.

Christmas was never that popular or had the same sort of sentiments in Japan as the rest of the world. But without school here and the Group's projects to worry about, maybe she can relax. Maybe even treat Christmas the same way as others do.

After all, her friends and SEES deserve something. They've dealt with a lot and maybe a gift or two wouldn't be such a bad idea.

The problem is just a matter of what. A cookware set might be good for Shinjiro, and with Aki's obsession with protein powder, that would be simple enough. But it should also be something special, shouldn't it? And she doesn't exactly have the funds like she used to back home, so not everything was an option.

Why is this harder than it looks?

A lot of analogies fly right over her head. This is one of them.

"I'm sorry, but... a sounding board?"

"It's...a second opinion. They listen and tell you what they think. Answer questions you're having a hard time with." Asem looks somewhat puzzled, himself. He wasn't expecting anyone to not know what he meant.

She's... kind of clueless with teenage lingo sometimes.

"Oh, I see. Ah, well..." Wouldn't bouncing ideas off of someone else be hard if they didn't know the person she was buying for? She cups her chin in a hand thoughtfully.

"I'm debating on purchasing a gift for a friend. We've been together for a long time now, but never had a reason to celebrate Christmas or any other gift giving holidays. He's a boxer, one of the best that I've seen, and he's extremely dedicated to his training."

"Oh. Hm." Asem ponders that for a moment. "How about a cookbook with high-protein recipes? I'd think he wants to keep his protein intake up."

She had kept the cooking supplies in mind just for Shinjiro, but that didn't sound like a bad idea at all. It certainly would be something different, although who knew if it would be easier to obtain than a pair of boxing gloves.

"He can be quite rigid with his diet. That sounds like an excellent idea. Thank you."

"No problem. I'm glad to help." Asem smiled. "There's a bookstore not too far from here, too. Good luck."

"I will take a look into it." She bows her head gratefully.

"I believe we've met before, but I don't recall your name. I'm Mitsuru Kirijo."

"Oh. Right." To be fair, it was a rather unusual first meeting. "Asem Asuno. Nice to meet you."

"Likewise, Asuno." She bows her head a little, feeling just a tad embarrassed at remembering their first meeting. "Have you settled in well?"

Asem nodded. "Yep. I've got a job and a comfortable place to live, so I'm pretty much set. How about you?"

"Good to hear." She wasn't quite as settled in as she could be, but it was enough. This was just a slightly different way of living than she was used to.

"Well enough for myself. This city isn't nearly that different than what I'm used to." Just a different lifestyle.

Asem nodded. "Yeah. Same. I was stationed at a base before I came here, but it was right next to the Federation capital, so I'm used to the city, too."
