Summary: Celebratory night out on one of Yamato's rare days off

The sky was completely dark at this time in the early evening, and the temperature was dropping with each passing minute. Yamato was not in his usual long coat, but instead in a warm looking winter coat with a thick, pale coloured scarf topping the ensemble. His JP's uniform was mostly for show, not for warmth, and he didn't do too well in the cold.

He was standing on the edge of the Taurus Ward, looking as severe as usual. He was ten minutes early for his and Shura's meeting time, waiting beneath a tall looking street lamp. He didn't look impatient, and actually seemed to be lost in thought, gazing up at the dark sky with his arms crossed over his chest.

Hm, it was even starting to snow a little...

Welcome to teenagehood, Yamato.Shura pushed her drink aside and put both hands on the table.

"Okay. I don't have all the answers, but, I think that, hypothetically, if the person was not interested, you shouldn't press the issue because that would make you a creep. No one wants that.

"I think..." Shura looked lost in time for a moment. "I think that... if they wanna be friends, be a friend. You can't justify yourself for someone in another world. They could be very different from you. The point of different worlds is that shit goes down differently. That's my opinion on the Amala Universe anyway.

"So... hypothetically, if they want to be friends, and you want to be friends, be friends. They're giving you a chance to show you're... not an asshole. So don't be an asshole. And if it hurts you to be with them, you can tell them, you know. Friendship should make both people happy."

With all that said, Shura took a big gulp of her drink.

Yamato was well aware that he more than qualified for that label. He didn't care, since he had to be harsh and merciless as Chief of JP's. He didn't like sending people to their deaths, but if it was necessary he didn't lose sleep over it. They had been too weak to stay alive, and if they died fulfilling their duty, there was no less admirable death.

However, that didn't mean he wanted to be an asshole to Kaito. Well, not to the extent where it would damage their already delicate relationship even more. As much as he was confused over him, he - well, he felt that avoiding him at being rejected would be the appropriate thing to do, but apparently Kaito didn't want that so-

Urrrrrgh. Relationships were hard.

"...I see," he murmured quietly, taking a contemplative sip of his drink. "I do not want to chase him away, but neither do I feel it is appropriate to... pretend as if there isn't anything there either. Hypothetically," he added belatedly. "I... don't know how I feel about it."

He suddenly laughed, and rubbed at his forehead. "My apologies, this isn't a very celebratory topic..."

Shura waved a hand. "S'all right. We don't see often these days, so now is as good a time as any, right? Anyway... time would eventually heal the rejection, hypothetically.." She sighed. "Feelings are complicated."

[drakenguard]

"They are," Yamato grumbled. "More trouble than they are worth, actually."

[demifemme]

"Mmmm..." Shura played with the straw in her glass. "I'm not sure I would have gone as far as I have without feelings."

[drakenguard]

"Feelings are what killed me," Yamato said, pushing his glass between his fingers. He admitted that he had got too heated with Hiro's betrayal, and had foolishly used the Dragon Stream in excess. He lost his head to hurt anger, and it caused him his death...

"...but I am aware that emotions can give one strength in their ideals, if they allow it."

"Isn't having an ideal a feeling in itself?" she asked half to herself.

[drakenguard]

"I suppose," Yamato said after a pause. "It's ambition, and even then it carries emotional motivations behind it. A passion to see it achieved, a certainty of being correct, a craving for freedom it would give..."

Maybe he had too much. His tongue was much too loose tonight.

"Hah, so yes, an ideal can count as an emotion, if you want to look at it that way."

[demifemme]

Shura finished her glass, looking pensive.

"... y'know, I have no idea where I was going with that. Just remember not to be an asshole. That sounds important." Nod nod.

[drakenguard]

Yamato smiled a little. "That will be tricky. Asshole is my permanent state of being according to some."

[demifemme]

"They're liars," Shura said with a firm nod. She then looked at her glass. "... how many is this?"

[drakenguard]

Yamato muffled his laughter - he was certain they weren't lying - but let it slide. "I believe it's your third one. Don't tell me you're beginning to feel the effects already?"

[demifemme]

"Well, I am beginning to feel pretty warm," she said, pulling on the collar of her Tshirt. "It is strong alcohol after all." And Shura was tired from her match.

[drakenguard]

Yamato lifted his glass up to his lips, letting out a low cough of what sounded like "lightweight".

[demifemme]

"I'm sorry?" she asked, tuning to him. "Did I just hear a 'yes, Shura, I will carry your overaffectionate self back to your apartment once you're drunk'?"

[drakenguard]

Yamato snorted into his drink, sounding amused. "Haha! You wish. I'm afraid that if you get drunk, you will have to find your own way home - or stumble into the waiting arms of a voluptuous waitress. Either or," he said, lowering his glass. "I'm a cruel man."

[demifemme]

"You're a bad, bad friend, my friend," she says right before ordering some water.

[drakenguard]

Well his threat got Shura to drink a bit more sensibly, so he took the comment with a small shrug of his shoulders. "Well, I'm certainly not good."

"We'll get there eventually," she said with a small grin.
