▼ The Darkening Days

 

Who: Everyone. This is a general catch-all Taurus Event log. If you would like to do your own separate logs either due to pacing or easier loading, by all means, please do so!
Where: The Entire City
Summary: The last days of the Taurus event as things start to sour dramatically. During the 13th hour, Mutation Skills are unlocked for certain people (see the info post here) and now people have a chance against the swarming mechanized bulls. Unfortunately, for some, this means the paranoia hit a new low....if you want, you can get together and join each other's posts to try to hold the city down and protect everyone!
Warnings: Strange Attitudes, NPCs, Attacking, Battles.
Note: Please mark your post with what date they are happening. We are allowing anywhere from the 23th to future-dating to the 26th itself. Go on and have fun!

▼ The nights grow weary and a pattern seems to be forming...(days until the 26th)

 

Most of the Taurus civilians had willingly put themselves in confinement. As their symptoms began to rise, at the very least, there was little chance for them to cause problems. It looked like, hopefully, that they could hold back a lot of the damage and deaths to the city.

How completely wrong they would end up being...

▼ The day of reckoning...(April 26th, before the 13th Hour)

 

In retrospect, they should have realized something was wrong. While the Scorpio civilians were screaming about doom much like it had been predicted, Aquarius and Leo were not.

More research was needed...but there was no time now.

Somehow, everyone that had gone to the holding facilities were being freed from their confinement areas. No one knew who or got in, or how they got out, but many guards were injured in the process-- or worse.

The city turned into an all too (unfortunately) familiar sight. The Taurus civilians were causing havoc in the city, joined by others that the city had not predicted. Observers and Researchers quickly realized that these were all the earth signs, and a signal was given out; but too little, too late.

The city needed to fight back, lest it lose even more of its members. The situation was dire, but they had the Visitors on their side.

...For better or for worse.

▼ The Hour at Hand...(April 26th, 13th Hour)

 

13th Hour.

By now, the city was in chaos. For those who had witnessed the Scorpio outbreak it was an unfortunate similarity they might want to forget, but for others, this horror was brand new.

Giant mechanical bulls patrolled the city and continued to swarm, the police force trying to contain them and help as many as they could.

As time went on, mechanical parts and rocks fell to the floor from the bulls. Once the 13th hour hit...the remaining ones mutated, standing on two legs. And that wouldn't even be the worst of it...

And yet even in this Hour, there is hope. Power surges in a select few, and with a new skill at their tips, the battle may be won yet. But remember your mission: you came to protect this city. That includes the people living here. With so much chaos, you'll also need to help them and reduce the number of deaths as much as possible...and try not too look too closely at a looming figure in the Taurus Ward...

[ Whatever you're doing, Joshua's here to mix it up. Make it more interesting. He may be on your side if you're fighting a hopeless battle, or he may side with a Taurus zombie if you're steamrolling your way to victory. Or he could just pop into view next to you just to throw off your next attack. Who knows? I don't know. He doesn't really know. He just really, really loves annoying people right now. Anyone! Probably you next, if he just happens to be on your side.

If he does end up interrupting your next move, though, he'll most likely be suddenly standing right next to you, aiming a cameraphone in your face. ]

Smile. [ THAT FLASH IS BRIGHT BY THE WAY. ]

[ Alternatively, if you're not into being confrontational or if you're secretly Izanami, he'll just wander up with his phone out and spot you. Her. Them. Let's get out of second person for this one. He'll smirk and wait for something interesting to happen, but if nothing does, he'll go right up to them and start talking. I'm sorry. ]

[The common worker had been observing for long enough, after all. It was time to at least make herself more a presence from the shadows once more. And what a better time than when most of the city was in an uproar?

The bulls didn't seem to bother (him? her?) much, though it almost amused her how some shrieked or were affected by the change of zodiacs in conjunction with the moon phases. Much like another observer was. Though if something made a move to attack, it would find itself in a less than stellar situation.

Though she is very much intrigued by the strong presence of death. It is what she has sovereignty over, after all.]

[ Not a lot of people are out here to spectate, so naturally those are the ones he gravitates to, even when they look like a humble gas station attendant. He saunters over, cellphone loose in his hand, and gives him (her??) a onceover. A careful one. ]

[Look as much as you wish, Kiryuu... for most of what lies beyond the surface is likely obscured in a haze. For good reason, of course.]

Hm? [Oh my, one of those not as affected as the others! This is certainly 'something' indeed. /badum tss] Not in particular. I'm merely observing while those with the ability do the rest.

[ If Joshua backs off a bit, it's because the fog is getting to his hair ]

[ Not as affected, yes, but he's got a bit of an uncharacteristic light in his eye. And he just can't stop smiling!! ] The implication being... helplessness? [ Obviously not - she wouldn't be out here unless she was both helpless and stupid. He's just looking for a motive... And, more importantly, something to annoy her with. ]

Oh, I'd say I'm far from 'helpless'... [smile!] Though I find it more interesting to just stand back and watch. Don't you agree?

Do I? [ Joshua puts his hand over his mouth and titters. ] Would this be a private booth, then? I didn't realize I'd be intruding.

[The wanderer shielded his red eyes with one hand before looking at the troublemaker in front of him, his lowered Z-Saber gripped tight in the other. If he had more free will, he'd certainly feel annoyed that his picture got taken, but there were other things on his mind right now. Like the fact there's a Fire sign standing in front of him. He responds in a barely human voice, one that sounds completely unamused, his face showing similar Wait nevermind, that's how he always looks and talks anyway when it's not in a robotic filter]

I am giving you five seconds.

Oh, much appreciated, but this isn't a polaroid camera! No need to let things, ah, develop.

[ Joshua giggles to himself, then jumps high into the air, higher than any human being could jump. And floats. He drifts away gently with a wild look in his eye. ]

Five's way too short for that kind of thing, anyway! Let's just talk, mm? No need to get so riled up.

[[ ooc: joshua's not looking for a fight as much as he's looking for a reason to piss someone off! he'll stick with dodging and play shots, giving your character singed armor and hair at the very most, and i'd be ok with much the same on joshua. i'd prefer not to escalate this into a honest to goodness fight since joshua is extremely godmode - i'm sorry, i should have clarified this in the original post! please let me know if you'd really like your character to take him on! ]]

[The Reploid looks up, staring with crimson eyes, at the floating and retreating figure. He doesn't care to understand much of what the other person is saying concerning photographs, but right now only the fight matters to him, his knees bending in preparation and his Z-Saber held in a hand behind him.]

... There is nothing to discuss.

There's plenty to discuss! [ Joshua keeps floating, ready to dodge or block if need be, but sticks his hands in his back pockets in a (mostly) universal sign of relaxation. ] Like... Where on earth did you get that garish thing? [ He motions towards his own face in the shape of horns and grimaces. He knows perfectly well where the thing ] I've seen better at a flea market.

[He reflexively closes his eyes at the flash, wisely removing his finger from the trigger before he accidentally shoots something he didn't intend to. But once the moment is over, he blinks rapidly to get rid of any leftover flash blindness, his golden eyes narrowed with annoyance. It's bad enough he's getting swarmed by bulls, stop making things more difficult!]

You are? [ Joshua frowns, looking around. It's just bulls, you big scared silly. ] Huh... I never would've guessed. Are you having fun yet?

Oh yes, plenty of fun. But it would be better with a Player 2, I'd think!

[He swaps the frown for a wide grin, although it's hard to say how sincere it really is, all things considered.

Still, there are monsters to be fighting, so he gets back to firing away at those bulls! ...Too bad a single revolver isn't nearly effective enough to do much.]

[ Man... People really don't kid around here with the video game metaphors. Still, Joshua inclines his head. ]

So... Was that a want or a need for help? Because if it's the former... [ A noncommittal shrug. Almost as if he's got better things to do... ]

At this point, could it be anything other than need?

[He keeps his tone light, even as the bulls continue to push to get close enough for an attack. In the time it takes him to pop out the used rounds and replace them, the crowd only grows. The look he gives them is one of puzzlement rather than fear.]

Hmm... At this rate, I'm probably in danger of dying, huh?

[As if. A hell of a lot of pain, probably. But fortunately(?) death doesn't like him so much here.]

[ Joshua laughs at his demeanor and tone. He's still rather studiously ignoring the bulls and zombies. :D ] For someone who's in danger of death, you seem awfully blasé.

Well, compared to what I've been feeling like for the last few days, being surrounded by monsters almost seems better.

[He would be happy to never experience that kind of strange, unnatural fear ever again.]

If I were in more of a panic, would you give me a hand?

Keep talking! Perhaps it'll be worth my time. [ Joshua sits down on a nearby bench and just... watches. i'm sorry about his everything ] So you're one of the tinhats from the past few days, mmm?

[Wow jerk! Hizumi just waves his gun lazily - the reason for this pause becoming evident when one of those neato Velvet Room cards shows up and breaks, causing the appearance of a Jack Frost that's more than ready to Mabufu the crud out of the monsters.]

Unfortunately, yes. You didn't happen to be affected by that too, did you? It wasn't a whole lot of fun.

[Understatement. Being compelled to act so differently had frankly been disturbing to him.]

[ SORRY sorry this really is just the start. ]

I've been in my right mind. In fact, right now I'm feeling pretty good. [ A toothy grin. ] Poor baby, though. Tell me about it?

[bondsofsuffering]

[He opens his mouth to reply, but is cut off when a monster's attack gets worryingly close, forcing him to move aside to dodge. Although he does manage to shoot it in the head thanks to it charging right up to him, it seems to have caused the boy to change his mind about continuing.]

--Sorry, as much as I'd like to keep chatting with you, I don't think these guys are gonna let me.

... Well, that's just plain rude of them, isn't it? [ Joshua turns his head in their direction, considering them deeply, then... makes a shooing motion with his hand. ] Go away.

[ Aaand at least half of them go flying backwards, crashing into the other half and then into walls and down alleyways. Telekinesis is totally a mind spell. Joshua scoffs, turning his attention back to this stranger. ]

[He pauses to collect his thoughts, resuming fire on the remaining monsters using his trusty revolver in the meantime.]

...It was like I couldn't control my own thoughts anymore. More than anything else, I was compelled to start screaming doomsday prophesies about the the bulls were going to come.
