In the excitement of summer, it might have slipped some Visitor's minds to go out and patrol the city during the 13th Hour. On the other hand, some were infused with even more energy on those summer nights. It really all depended on the person and perhaps whether their previous encounters were Frosts and Prinnies or something nastier.

Speaking of which... what was out there to be fought tonight?

Zoe blinks in surprise, before slowly waving back. Well, that's... different.

"... Well, I've never seen anything like that before."

Kotoha shrugs.

"Yeah, I haven't met anyone around here that knows what a Pokemon is."

Scorpina clacks her pincers together and gives off a hissing laugh at this.

"I'm Kotoha, and this is Scorpina! Nice to meet you!"

"I see." She glances between the girl and the flying scorpion, before shrugging and nodding her head to them with a small smile.

"My name is Zoe Gallais. It's nice to meet you too... I'm going to guess that Scorpina came along to this city with you?"

"Yep! All of my Pokemon came with me."

A slight pause.

"...well, not all all, just the ones I had with me at the time...still!"

A slight chuckle.

"So, are you patrolling too?"

"Huh, I see. Well, that was lucky, either way."

Zoe hefts her lance onto her shoulder, before nodding in reply.

"Yes, I am. Plus it's good training; I do not wish to get rusty with my lance, after all."

Kotoha looks impressed at the idea that Zoe is fighting monsters with what is basically a stick and makes up her mind on the spot.

"Okay then, we'll back you up!"

Zoe looks faintly surprised for a moment, and then she smiles and nods.

"Very well. I won't turn down aid, especially when it seems like you two are more than capable."

Kotoha nods, smiling.

"Alright! Scorpina, you go to guard altitude and force down any fliers, alright? Send me a signal if you need backup."

The flying scorpion salutes with one pincer before ascending to rooftop height with an impressive downdraft. Kotoha holds her visor in place with one hand as the wind whips her hair around, and then turns to Zoe.

"I don't suppose your Persona is a support type? We got a nasty surprise earlier when one of my skills got reflected back at us."

There's a sheepish grin on her face as she admits to this.

Zoe blinks up at him and shakes her head, giving Kotoha a faintly sheepish look back.

"Sadly not. I've got a combat type, though mine specialises in wind and light attacks, if that is any help."

"Mine's, uh...fire and light, mostly? But between me and the rest of my team, we cover...literally everything, from what I can tell."

"Hmm... How many others were brought here with you?" Zoe starts to walk again and continue the patrol as she speaks.

"Only my main team of six."

Kotoha follows along.

"I don't really mind, though - it would have gotten a little crowded if all 380 of them came with me."

[papillonmagique]

"380- You have 380 Pokemon?" Zoe turns to give Kotoha a look that's a mix of amazed and impressed.

Kotoha nods.

"I was given my first pokemon - her name is Tomoe - and a Pokedex in exchange for a favor. I had to catalog every pokemon in the Unova region. And, well, you know what they say - it doesn't feel like work if you enjoy it, right?"

Zoe tilts her head, before nodding in agreement.

"Heh, that is true. Though it must have taken you a while to find all of them, I'm guessing."

Kotoha nods.

"Yeah, I was fourteen when I started."

Looking back at it, she was so young then. She's so much older and more mature now that she's fifteen.

Zoe raises her eyebrows, now nonchalantly twirling her lance around as she speaks. "Fourteen? My, isn't that rather young to go travelling across the region?"

Kotoha grins broadly at this.

"Oh, now you're just flattering me."

She starts absently rolling Scorpina's miniaturized pokeball over her knuckles as she continues.

"Seriously, though? The average starting age for a Trainer is ten."

"I only give compliments when they're deserved." She gives Kotoha a grin back, still twirling her lance around as she hums to herself in thought.

"Ten? Why is the starting age so young?"

That actually causes Kotoha to stop in her tracks.

"...you know, I've never really thought about it? It's just always been that way."

Zoe snorts quietly to herself, and gives a small shrug.

"So, ten year olds are sent to go across the regions to look for Pokemon? Don't the parents tend to worry?"

Kotoha laughs a little, her expression incredulous.

"Why?"

Blink. "Because wouldn't this journey be a tad unsafe for the kids? With travelling across the region on their own and all."

"But...why would they be alone? They'll always have pokemon with them."
