Terra Firma (Newcomer + 13th Hour Log)
▼ All things change, and we change with them (13th hour & arrival log)
Where: The entire city
When: Month of July (date your post accordingly!)
Summary: This is both a Newcomer log AND a General 13th hour log
Warnings: That depends who is there. Remember to mark your titles clearly if any warnings need to be issued!
▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)
There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.
By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.
To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.
Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.
Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.
▼ Ode of the Newcomer
...hopefully anyway.
There is one word that stays with you, however.
Persona.
So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...
▼ Extra Long OOC Blurb
This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.
If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!
Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).
If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).
FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]
DON'T FORGET TO TAG WITH YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME PLEASE.

Free light show with your ass-kicking. I should start charging for this.
[Fire still flickers in his palm; he lets it dance around his fingers a little, blatantly showing off.]
Mind telling me where the hell I am? I'm pretty sure this isn't where our helicopter was headed.

I very much doubt that as well. You're in a city called Hinoto-Ri, located in - for lack of more accurate terminology - another dimension. Since I have ample reason to assume your situation and mode of arrival is similar to mine, you've been brought here by an inscrutable otherworldly entity by the name of Philemon, who you may recognize from a dream you've just had as a man wearing a butterfly mask. You may also remember him mentioning something called Persona. Here in this world, the term refers to a manifestation of power called forth from your subconscious mind and typically taking the form of a figure from some branch of classical mythology or, in some cases, pop culture. We have been assigned the cheerfully vague task of ensuring the continued survival and eventual salvation of this world through the use of our Personas, which thus far has taken the form of nightly extermination of demons and other monsters that roam the city, fighting back against a terrorist group calling themselves the Anoli, and periodically battling against large and powerful creatures based on the twelve signs of the Western zodiac.
[She pauses for a moment.]
I think that's about the size of it. You may now commence with the customary raised eyebrows and accusations of delusion that tend to accompany this explanation.
no subject
That's a hell of a story. Let's say I believe you - what's this Philemon's criteria for bringing people here? Because I'm more terrorist than world-saver, so he made a pretty shitty choice this time.

[Occam's Razor is a scientist's best friend.]
...The other theory that's been floated is that he's just a jerk.
[Which is also very possible.]
no subject
Sounds like a great leader, whichever one you pick.
So we've got demons and monsters, some mysterious god-guy who kidnapped us here to fight them, terrorists, horoscopes gone wild - and an extra power I don't need. I hate being predictable, but you've gotta know this does sound delusional.

You could just be bullshitting me, for all I know. Looks like we share the same sense of humor, considering you actually like watching assholes get knocked out for being assholes, and it's what I'd do if someone showed up in the Bronx looking for a missing helicopter.
no subject
[Another smile at that. It's not like either of them, at the end of the day, has any way of proving their claims.]
I've dealt with their type before. People without the power to back up their actions shouldn't be starting fights.
no subject
We agree on that, then. [It's not just a casual statement - she's clearly just put something close to his credo into words.]
Alright, for now I'll believe you. I'm gonna assume this is just some kind of industrial center, not the whole city? 'Cause I've lived in holes like this before, and I'm not staying in another one no matter what needs saving.
no subject
It's a philosophy that's seldom steered me wrong in life.
[SOCIAL LINK: GO]
Yes, that's correct. Following the zodiac theme, this is the Sagittarius district, the industrial heart of the city. The others are named similarly, with each of the twelve having some sort of specific theme. The Virgo district is where most of the stores are, Pisces and Libra are the residential districts, Leo is where the government offices are located, and so on. All Visitors - that's what they call us - are set up with a government issued identification card and subsidized housing in one of the apartment buildings in one of the two residential districts, although you're free to move elsewhere if you're in the mood for something larger. We receive a stipend simply for living here, and are expected to assist with the public welfare by fighting the demons that plague the streets after midnight, though in practice we're on the honor system with that. No one will actually check up on you to see that you're doing it.
no subject
Free housing and we're getting paid to do this? [He smirks.] It's one up on Xavier's, anyway - two if we're getting paid just to fight. Not my war, but I'm not turning down the chance to wreck some shit without the X-Men breathing down my neck.
no subject
...Which it is, of course. Let's not even split hairs on that point.

I'm definitely gonna like it here. As soon as I get out of this place, anyway. Which way to Leo?
no subject
[Nodding, she thrusts a hand forward.]
Fumi Kanno, by the way.
no subject
Pyro. Just Pyro.
[He shoots her a sidelong glance as they start to walk.]
That mean you're working for the city?
no subject
[She nods, shaking.]
Yes, that's correct. I work as a network security administrator for the city's government. It was the most convenient way to get my research re-funded.
no subject
[And then something occurs to him.]
Network? Like the internet?
no subject
[Fumi nods.]
Yes, that's correct. For all intents and purposes, at least. It's really more of an Intranet since it only encompasses the city itself, but in practice it's the same sort of concept. The government has its own private network, and there's also one reserved exclusively for the use of Visitors.
no subject
[That's when the single most smartass expression ever crosses his face.]
Lemme guess - you're doing security for the government network too, not just the visitors?
[Which probably means free access to it. If she's found that good of an in with the people in charge here, then she's worth watching. That's nearly Mystique levels of subterfuge.]
no subject
[Fumi smirks right back. She's pretty sure she knows what he's thinking.]
It's far more useful to have a direct line to the powers that be, and it makes for an easy way of keeping track of what the government is up to.
no subject
[He's chuckling again, although there's still a distant part of him that insists the whole thing is too crazy to be true. And she's probably just as crazy, because meeting her so early in his stay is too good to be true.
But he pushes it aside for now. At the very least, if the "demons" turn out to be real, he can have some fun here. And if the stuff about other worlds is a lie, then Magneto and Mystique will find him eventually.]
Since you're the source on demons, what kind of things are we looking at here?
no subject
[Another amused smirk. And Fumi is definitely crazy, just not about this. Still, their particular brands of amorality seem to be meshing rather well for the time being, and she can always respect someone with a similar philosophy.]
Would you like me to show you?
no subject
[He stops in his paces, moving in front of her (but a reasonable distance away) and holds his arms out to the side. Give him all you've got.]
no subject
[Fumi pulls out what appears to be a fairly normal smartphone, pressing several buttons. There are three cracks of lightning in front of her, and seconds later there are three demons standing at the ready.]
Meet Lugh, Fenghuang, and Tao Tie.
