▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefully anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

You could just be bullshitting me, for all I know. Looks like we share the same sense of humor, considering you actually like watching assholes get knocked out for being assholes, and it's what I'd do if someone showed up in the Bronx looking for a missing helicopter.

Alright, for now I'll believe you. I'm gonna assume this is just some kind of industrial center, not the whole city? 'Cause I've lived in holes like this before, and I'm not staying in another one no matter what needs saving.

[It isn't as if Fumi's not used to those sorts of looks anyway - she's largely learned to ignore them with little more than a small eye roll.]

Yes, that's correct. Following the zodiac theme, this is the Sagittarius district, the industrial heart of the city. The others are named similarly, with each of the twelve having some sort of specific theme. The Virgo district is where most of the stores are, Pisces and Libra are the residential districts, Leo is where the government offices are located, and so on. All Visitors - that's what they call us - are set up with a government issued identification card and subsidized housing in one of the apartment buildings in one of the two residential districts, although you're free to move elsewhere if you're in the mood for something larger. We receive a stipend simply for living here, and are expected to assist with the public welfare by fighting the demons that plague the streets after midnight, though in practice we're on the honor system with that. No one will actually check up on you to see that you're doing it.

[Whoa, whoa, hold up.]

Free housing and we're getting paid to do this? [He smirks.] It's one up on Xavier's, anyway - two if we're getting paid just to fight. Not my war, but I'm not turning down the chance to wreck some shit without the X-Men breathing down my neck.

We're actually given a surprising amount of freedom and autonomy. A group of Visitors once stole a fire truck and crashed it through a government building and received only a few weeks of community service as punishment. As you can imagine, the native residents don't like us very much, viewing this as unfairly preferential treatment.

...Which it is, of course. Let's not even split hairs on that point.

[Oh god, give him a sec.]

[Nope, he's laughing his ass off.]

I'm definitely gonna like it here. As soon as I get out of this place, anyway. Which way to Leo?

I happen to work in the Leo District, so I'll show you the way. You'll need to stop by City Hall to pick up the rest of your arrival package, as it were.

[Nodding, she thrusts a hand forward.]

Fumi Kanno, by the way.

[The fire suddenly disappears from his hand, and it doesn't feel any warmer than a regular hand when he takes hers and shakes it.]

Pyro. Just Pyro.

[He shoots her a sidelong glance as they start to walk.]

That mean you're working for the city?

Hm.

[She nods, shaking.]

Yes, that's correct. I work as a network security administrator for the city's government. It was the most convenient way to get my research re-funded.

Might as well use the system if it's there. What kinda research?

[And then something occurs to him.]

Network? Like the internet?

At home, my work was largely related to demons, but since coming here I've shifted my focus a bit to study the Persona phenomenon as well.

[Fumi nods.]

Yes, that's correct. For all intents and purposes, at least. It's really more of an Intranet since it only encompasses the city itself, but in practice it's the same sort of concept. The government has its own private network, and there's also one reserved exclusively for the use of Visitors.

This whole "demon" thing is more common than I thought. And humans thought they had it bad back home, shit.

[That's when the single most smartass expression ever crosses his face.]

Lemme guess - you're doing security for the government network too, not just the visitors?

[Which probably means free access to it. If she's found that good of an in with the people in charge here, then she's worth watching. That's nearly Mystique levels of subterfuge.]

For the government exclusively, in fact. The Visitor network is open to all of us anyway, so there's really little reason for me to be involved in it at a higher level.

[Fumi smirks right back. She's pretty sure she knows what he's thinking.]

It's far more useful to have a direct line to the powers that be, and it makes for an easy way of keeping track of what the government is up to.

Fumi Kanno. I'll definitely be keeping you on my radar.

[He's chuckling again, although there's still a distant part of him that insists the whole thing is too crazy to be true. And she's probably just as crazy, because meeting her so early in his stay is too good to be true.

But he pushes it aside for now. At the very least, if the "demons" turn out to be real, he can have some fun here. And if the stuff about other worlds is a lie, then Magneto and Mystique will find him eventually.]

Since you're the source on demons, what kind of things are we looking at here?

[Another amused smirk. And Fumi is definitely crazy, just not about this. Still, their particular brands of amorality seem to be meshing rather well for the time being, and she can always respect someone with a similar philosophy.]

[He stops in his paces, moving in front of her (but a reasonable distance away) and holds his arms out to the side. Give him all you've got.]

[Fumi pulls out what appears to be a fairly normal smartphone, pressing several buttons. There are three cracks of lightning in front of her, and seconds later there are three demons standing at the ready.]

Meet Lugh, Fenghuang, and Tao Tie.

[The phone makes him arch his eyebrows, arms crossed over his chest, but then -

- whoa. He actually takes a step back, staring at them with confusion and a bit of apprehension.]

No real pattern to how they look, huh? [It's a cool, offhand comment, but that's not really covering for his obvious surprise.] I don't know what I expected, but -

Demon is a bit of a... broad term in the world I come from. But even considering that, yes, there's quite a bit of variation. The demons that appear in the city have just as much variety - probably even more, really, considering that some of them also come from the same worlds as the Visitors.

[He's approaching them now, reckless as ever, but he does choose the smallest for his scrutiny.]

Man, are we the only world who missed the boat on this demon thing? How many have you heard of that even have these things?

[That would be Tao Tie, the sheep-looking one. It's well-trained and only listens to Fumi, so it simply sits there and leers back at Pyro as he approaches.]

Besides me, that I know of? Seven.

What the hell.

[He crouches down to get a better look, but his lighter's open in his other hand just in case.]

Wanna share how they come out of your phone?

[She's noting that lighter.]

They'll only attack you if you attack first. Or if I order them to, and currently I have no reason to do so.

[Smile smile smile.]

As for that matter... traditional demon summoning rituals were decoded and reinterpreted in the form of programming code. Using these phones, the entire ritual can be completed in less than a second - as fast as the processing speed of the computer inside will allow.
