Terra Firma (Newcomer + 13th Hour Log)
▼ All things change, and we change with them (13th hour & arrival log)
Where: The entire city
When: Month of July (date your post accordingly!)
Summary: This is both a Newcomer log AND a General 13th hour log
Warnings: That depends who is there. Remember to mark your titles clearly if any warnings need to be issued!
▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)
There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.
By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.
To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.
Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.
Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.
▼ Ode of the Newcomer
...hopefully anyway.
There is one word that stays with you, however.
Persona.
So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...
▼ Extra Long OOC Blurb
This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.
If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!
Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).
If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).
FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]
DON'T FORGET TO TAG WITH YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME PLEASE.

Well, I guess if he's trying to get us to save the world, they would, yeah.
no subject
[Still, that was a strange way to phrase a concern about privacy.]
So the monsters that show up in the extra hour are like, the bad ones. And the ones from our worlds. You'll see them roaming around the city in daylight hours sometimes, though - They're usually peaceful, but they're still demons. The faeries I'm talking about are native to this place, and they just spent the last week pranking us for some reason..
no subject
Uh... huh. The fae where I'm from usually left well enough alone unless I went looking for them, but I'll have to talk to these guys and see what I turn up.
So, these monsters show up in the daytime, but they aren't looking for trouble then? Do they just go crazy at night and randomly attack people or what?
no subject
[Phantom Girl's expression has grown a bit more grave.]
The ones native to this city behave a lot more like actual people instead of monsters. They still don't have the same moral system as people like you and me, but they're much friendlier.
no subject
[That is not a happy expression on Maugris's face.]
Well, I'll be happy to do what I can. This Persona thing should help if I can pull it off.
no subject
[She smiles for a brief moment before her glance falls on a nearby clock.]
Er. It's actually getting pretty close to that time. There's a few hours - You should get to your room and sort of... try to settle in. Maybe get to sleep before it starts. The 13th Hour probably isn't something you want to get involved in your first night here.
...
I mean, unless it is. Maybe you like fighting monsters.
no subject
[He sighs and shrugs a little, reaching up like he was fiddling with a tie, though he isn't actually wearing one.]
How late are the government offices and things open, out of curiosity?
[Because if they all shut down at like eight that's going to be a problem - he's pretty sure the sun isn't going to have set by then.]
no subject
[A short pause.]
I mean, if you beat them fast enough, you'll never even have to know if they talk at all. ...Anyway, the offices are open the usual hours, I'd guess. Probably not too late, if the employees here are anything like the bureaucrats back home. Why?
no subject
And if my card isn't waiting in my room that's probably the most likely place to get it. And trying to get around without ID is probably going to be a pain in the ass. Er, pardon my French.
no subject
You're probably right about the card, though. I actually do kind of recall having to deal with some bureaucracy before I was fully processed or something along those lines.
no subject
[He's extremely nocturnal, in fact. But even if the Masquerade isn't really a thing here, he's expecting her to freak out if she finds out the whole "vampire" thing.]
Wonderful. I hate bureaucracy. It always makes things go so slow.
no subject
Anyway, if you work a lot of nights, shouldn't you be more available during the day? Like, for the daylight hours after your shift or something.
[It appears Phantom Girl has chalked this up to laziness rather than vampirism.]
I guess I can try and find out for you...
no subject
Could you? I'd owe you one. More like two, actually, for getting me in here and doing the welcome wagon thing.
no subject
...So should I drop by your place tomorrow morning? Or will you need some time to roll out of your coffin?
[Haha Phantom Girl is hilarious.]
no subject
Um. Evening might be better.
[He winces a little at the coffin joke. Dammit, how is he going to get out of this?]
no subject
...Wow. You really are nocturnal. ...OK, evening it is. Be by a bit after dinner, then.
Think you're set for now? I don't mind sticking around if you're still feeling totally disoriented or something, but otherwise, I'm going to go take care of a few more errands before the 13th Hour happens.
...Apparently, I need to find a job if I don't want to starve this month.
no subject
Wow. Sorry. That's never a great situation. Yeah, I think I can last the night at this point.
... Thanks for all the help. Really.
[He really hopes she eats late, or there's going to be trouble tomorrow night... He can try to wake up before sunset, but that doesn't mean he's actually going to manage to get anywhere. Nowhere outside, anyway.]
no subject
[She taps her ear for a moment before she realizes.]
Oh -- Sorry. Last thing. ...You should already have this.
[Somehow, the action of tapping her ear causes what appears to be clear plastic glasses to appear on her face.]
This is a COMP - we all get them attached to us when we get here. They're basically communicators. I shouldn't have to explain how to use them; it's weirdly intuitive and also kind of really creepy because I think it fuses with you and starts reading your mind or something.
Still, I can't say it's not useful.
no subject
[He reaches up and taps his ear, and whoa, that action feels a lot more natural than it should. The lenses of his own glasses flicker as if something's getting overlaid on them.]
... Okay, yeah, that's really creepy. So only the people who got brought here get these?
no subject
'Nanomachines'. I'm pretty sure they just tell us that to give us an explanation, but these aren't like any nanomachines I've ever come in contact with.
But yeah, that's about right. They latched on just about the moment you got here.
no subject
Not sure I'd believe it if I didn't see the thing with the glasses.
no subject
Hey, we're already accepting monsters coming out of our brains here. It's not like this is such a far stretch.
no subject
The part where you flew through a wall was a hint, too. I've never seen anybody short of an actual ghost do that, and I can't actually see ghosts. Not that they're too creative anyway.
no subject
I guess I can give you the spiel about the 31st century and Bgztl if you really want.
no subject
I think I can guess some of it. You said you were in the, uh, Legion of Superheroes? I'm guessing it's kind of a thing for different planets to have a representative there, and the Legion has a headquarters in New Metropolis so that's why you said you live there. And you're Bgztl's representative.
[He pronounces that surprisingly well considering he doesn't think it sounds like it has any vowels in it. Experience with arcane rituals in dead or entirely made-up languages helps.]
Have I got that right?
