Summary: Ruri is going to get a birthday cake for herself, mostly because she's afraid if she doesn't the people at home would be mad at her.

Ruri was out, out of her ship, out on the town, out of uniform in a simple dress. She was looking from bakery to bakery and after the 5th or so one she purchased a cake and some candles and moved away from all the hubbub of any festivals to sit down and light them.

"....This seems like such a waste, but I think Minato would be mad if I didn't. Not that it really matters here I guess."

She blinks and peers at the other girl's dramatics.

"I just don't have proper attire for a festival like that. Oh yes, candles. I should do that too."

"Well, you're one up on me, then! I don't even know what the proper attire is!"

Kotoha shrugs a little.

"I was planning on going like this, since I saw a bunch of people headed there wearing normal clothes."

"Oh, I was told Kimonos were what you wore to those by Yurika. Perhaps its something from home? I really don't know. I don't do a lot of festival things."

Kotoha nods at that.

"Okay, let's switch the conversation back to you! Shall we light the candles?"

She's not exactly subtle, is she?

She shrugs a bit and puts them on.

"I don't have any fire. Do you?"

"...hm."

Please hold while she thinks this over.

"...I don't think I have anything small enough."

"Small enough?"

She blinks and shakes her head deciding she doesn't want to know.

"I don't usually carry matches with me."

"...huh. So now what? Should we go look for matches or a lighter or something?"

"I guess? Are the candles really necessary though?"

[unbroken_chain]

"Hm...I guess not! Really, the only point for candles is to make a wish, isn't it?"

"And I don't have much faith in wishes. I hadn't heard of that tradition though."

[unbroken_chain]

A slight pause.

"Really? Huh."

A shrug and a grin as she dismisses it.

"Oh well. Happy birthday, Ruri!"

She smiled a bit and nodded.

"Thank you very much."

Kotoha smiles happily, and then her eyes brighten as she realizes something.

"Oh! I know!"

With that, she leans in and plants a kiss on Ruri's cheek.

"There, your present!"

Ruri blinks and turns bright red, her deadpan breaking with actual embarrassment.

"Um... I've never..."

Hm?

"Never what?"

"Been kissed."

She still looks a bit confused.

...Kotoha is starting to have a sneaking suspicion.

"...Ruri, was our date the first time anyone ever asked you out?"

"...That was an actual date? Not just using the term its a date?"

[unbroken_chain]

Suspicion confirmed. All Kotoha can do is laugh helplessly.

"You didn't even realize I was flirting with you, huh?"

"You were flirting with me...."

She blinks, more processing this than anything else.

Kotoha will just wait for you to finish processing this.

This could be a while, she's not used to these sort of things.
