Welcome to the Matrix
Who: Open log for all Visitors
Where: IN THE DIGITAL REALM
When: Backdated to July 15th and 16th
Summary: The Government has finally finished its antivirus protocols, and is providing the populace with a way to fight back
Warnings: The usual fight log warnings
After nearly a full week of corrupted files, bricked laptops, improperly filtered network posts, robots going haywire, and general computerized chaos, the Government of Hinoto-Ri has finally stepped in with an announcement of its own. On July 15th, Kandori sends out a short citywide announcement, accompanied by a heavily encrypted file sent directly to everyone's COMPs, which will begin auto-installing as soon as it is received. The announcement is short and concise, informing the Visitors that the Hinoto-Ri Government has developed a new app allowing Visitors to access the network in virtual space by directly connecting their consciousness through an uplink established by the nanomachines. This will allow the Visitors to confront the viruses, which have been determined to composed of programming code tainted by demonic essence, as easily as they would any other demons wandering about during the 13th Hour. Caution is highly recommended, however, as any damage taken in the virtual world will hurt in the real world as well - additionally, remaining connected for too long will result in extreme mental and physical fatigue. There will also be instructions to speak with either Atsuro or Ruri to receive antivirus protocols enabling the viruses to be defeated permanently.
Once connected, characters will find themselves in a vast virtual landscape like something out of the movie TRON, with programs and electrical connections whizzing past in every direction. And in the midst of it all, littered across the landscape, are countless copies of the demonic computer viruses that have been plaguing the network and causing havoc for the past five days. Visitors will find themselves able to use any weapons or powers they have in the real world, but will have the easiest time accessing their Personas, as they already exist as part of the user's subconscious and are floating even closer to the surface of the Visitors' thoughts in a realm based on pure information and thought. The Government has requested as many Visitors as possible to enter the digital world to assist with the problem, and while their own servers are locked down as they deal with that infestation themselves, the Visitors are expected to clean up their own network with extreme prejudice. Most of the viruses are the lower level floating smiley faces, with the three bosses lurking at the center of it all, only accessible once the small fry have been eliminated. Taking out the boss viruses will result in the simultaneous elimination of all lesser viruses spawned from them, but the boss viruses will only be accessible on the 16th, the last day of the event.
Good luck, everyone!
((OOC: This is an open battle log. There will be three subthreads - one for each of the 'boss' viruses. Anyone who just wants to fight the lesser viruses can feel free to make their own threads. The mods will not be running the fights, so players are encouraged to handle the battle threads however they see fit. This is also a chance for everyone to use their Personas, as battles fought in the digital realm still count toward unlocking new skills. And those waiting to awaken their Persona for the first time may find it easier to do here! Basically, it's just a free-for-all combat log like the monthly 13th Hour logs, so have fun with it! ^_^))

guess which
You can get a different Persona later. Keep moving - you can't afford to let fear get in your way. Deal with it later.
[It might be harsh, but it's what has to happen for the moment.]
no subject
Yes sir. I apologize for causing a delay.
[She'll think on it later. For now, there's a duty that needs done. As she starts walking, not looking back, she removes her gloves. There are people that will need quick healing, she thinks, and she can fix herself up after.
...
Aggie pls.]
no subject
Not now. You need to learn how to fight, not just heal.
no subject
After a moment, she shakes her head, almost a twitch instead of a conscious action. Then it happens again.]
I - just had to fight those things - but it was in self defense [so surely Mother will forgive her? They weren't real anyway] - We are not fighters, even without the rule of nonviolence.
[The Sheridan family rules - nonviolence, aid to others, secrecy - they're there for a reason. Even if they can't be saved, they have to have something to cling to, lest their despair overtake them. She figured that out long ago.]
no subject
[He presses his knuckles to her palm, knowing that his pain is one that can't be healed. He has a minor scrape - not enough to take much energy out of her, but enough to make a point.]
You're going to kill yourself doing nothing but be a healer, being passive. The world steps on the passive. Doing nothing causes more harm than it heals.
no subject
[Equating the traditions that kept them from going mad with despair to nothing - equating everything they've done to give their fucking worthless lives some damned meaning -]
[For the first time in probably a long time, Agatha isn't just enduring, she's glaring, teeth bared in a snarl and not a grimace.]
Nothing, you say. Then what else are we supposed to do? [She sounds calm, her voice still quiet, but there's an edge to it that there wasn't previously.] What else but fall into despair, wither away, and die? You're asking me to stop doing the only thing that has given my life - and my family's lives - any meaning at all. The only thing we can do with watchers ready to kick us harder if we step out of line.
Oh, I know it's all a lie, the curse hasn't gone anywhere even if we aren't corrupted nobles or thieves anymore. I'm well aware that we'll probably never be free of it, no matter what we do - so the best that we can do is try to make sense of it. Try to find some way to endure, to not make it worse. To give some meaning to it all, so that we don't fall into despair and destroy everything around us. So that we don't prove them right, because that's all we CAN do, as we are now.
[The fingers of her free hand clench and unclench, claw and fist and anger. It's like lava in her veins and she knows, she knows this anger is exactly what Sheridans try to keep under lock and key. She takes a deep breath, trying to calm down, but the edge is still in her voice when she asks:]
And all of that is "doing nothing"? So what if it kills me? We all know the risks we run.
[Good job, Naoya. She mad.]
no subject
As for your curse?
[He grabs her by the wrist again and squeezes, not hard enough to really make a permanent mark but enough to make a point.]
Just lying down and accepting it will do nothing but further your pain and misery. Fight it. Or do you insist that you deserve it? I don't know about the Cain in your world - but from my perspective, simply accepting it is worthless.
I can see your anger. Use it. Yes, you will make mistakes - violent ones. But at least you'll have lived. Hiding and refusing to take a stand, refusing to fight - that's not living. I've seen many lives. And I've seen too many wasted by people who refuse action. Don't be that sort of person, because the kind of person who refuses to inflict injury against their foes does the kind of damage that no healer can mend.

[If you heard a snapping sound, that was Agatha's calm reaching its limits, and now she's glaring at him. She has absolutely no idea how to deal with being so pissed off that her ears are ringing, and she ends up raising her voice as well.]
How?! How do you fight a damn curse, a concept?! How can you say that we can do these things when most of us are weak, when stepping out of "line" is what got us here in the first place?! How can you say that it's okay to feel anything when it's our damn emotions that get us into so much trouble?!
[She's going to try to yank her hand away from Naoya now.]
Well? Are you just going to tell me to do something that I don't know how to do, and expect me to somehow magically know it?! Well?!
no subject
Find the source of the curse. Make them remove it. Fight them. Otherwise you're going to remain crippled by it forever.
no subject
[That's Agatha stumbling a little and - just barely - avoiding falling over. Then what the ancestor said hits, and her eyes widen.]
...You intend a war on Heaven?
[She actually seriously ponders it and then shakes her head after a moment.]
None in my family are physically strong enough to so much as try - none except Uncle Jack, but after that accident in the mines...
[She looks back at him again, half-awed and half...genuinely scared. But then, who'd expect otherwise of someone who's essentially still a kid?]
M-more than that, no one's seen an angel in decades - centuries, even.

[She twitches, eyes widening for a moment, hands clenching. It's probably true-
It's probably true, and yet-]
What - is the point - of bringing this up when no one else from my world is here?! It is futile to think about things like that right now, at any rate!
no subject
[He just grins.]
no subject
.... Are you doing this for your own amusement, by any chance?
no subject
no subject
[She's still a padawan in the ways of trolling internet forums ok.]
As for that, I... [She closes her eyes for a moment.] ...That's...Not just something one can decide lightly, over the course of a few moments. More than that, there is a war on back home...I know my priorities must seem skewed to you, but I need to help out the hunters until that ends.

[Her voice is very small and very quiet when she says this. Well, hey, being forced to recognize that actually you are still a teenager and don't understand all the things yet...yeah, it's an unpleasant moment.]
no subject
no subject
[Aggie you don't need to apologize for all the things.]
As for that... I had thought I was doing enough on that front via agitating religious forums and studying scientific facts because of the trouble they almost always cause organized religion. [She looks up again, every bit the tiny seeking an elder's approval after all.] Was that not it?
no subject
W... well yes, that's a start. I meant more against your family.
no subject
... Staying out late and attempting to disobey rules, thereby causing a row, that is?
[Pause.]
Mother isn't given to emotional arguments, though, and I...do not want to upset Uncle Jack. [She looks down.] I'm not good at this rebellion thing, it seems.

[Idly, she realizes that under other circumstances, she'd be more alarmed at having had to kill, but...well...technically it was just data. No worse than deleting data off a hard drive.
That being said Naoya water you doin' There is only one person who ever bothered with headpats and oh. Er. Suddenly awkward.]
