Welcome to the Matrix

Who: Open log for all Visitors
Where: IN THE DIGITAL REALM
When: Backdated to July 15th and 16th
Summary: The Government has finally finished its antivirus protocols, and is providing the populace with a way to fight back
Warnings: The usual fight log warnings

After nearly a full week of corrupted files, bricked laptops, improperly filtered network posts, robots going haywire, and general computerized chaos, the Government of Hinoto-Ri has finally stepped in with an announcement of its own.  On July 15th, Kandori sends out a short citywide announcement, accompanied by a heavily encrypted file sent directly to everyone's COMPs, which will begin auto-installing as soon as it is received.  The announcement is short and concise, informing the Visitors that the Hinoto-Ri Government has developed a new app allowing Visitors to access the network in virtual space by directly connecting their consciousness through an uplink established by the nanomachines.  This will allow the Visitors to confront the viruses, which have been determined to composed of programming code tainted by demonic essence, as easily as they would any other demons wandering about during the 13th Hour.  Caution is highly recommended, however, as any damage taken in the virtual world will hurt in the real world as well - additionally, remaining connected for too long will result in extreme mental and physical fatigue.  There will also be instructions to speak with either Atsuro or Ruri to receive antivirus protocols enabling the viruses to be defeated permanently.

Once connected, characters will find themselves in a vast virtual landscape like something out of the movie TRON, with programs and electrical connections whizzing past in every direction.  And in the midst of it all, littered across the landscape, are countless copies of the demonic computer viruses that have been plaguing the network and causing havoc for the past five days.  Visitors will find themselves able to use any weapons or powers they have in the real world, but will have the easiest time accessing their Personas, as they already exist as part of the user's subconscious and are floating even closer to the surface of the Visitors' thoughts in a realm based on pure information and thought.  The Government has requested as many Visitors as possible to enter the digital world to assist with the problem, and while their own servers are locked down as they deal with that infestation themselves, the Visitors are expected to clean up their own network with extreme prejudice.  Most of the viruses are the lower level floating smiley faces, with the three bosses lurking at the center of it all, only accessible once the small fry have been eliminated.  Taking out the boss viruses will result in the simultaneous elimination of all lesser viruses spawned from them, but the boss viruses will only be accessible on the 16th, the last day of the event.

Good luck, everyone!

((OOC: This is an open battle log.  There will be three subthreads - one for each of the 'boss' viruses.  Anyone who just wants to fight the lesser viruses can feel free to make their own threads.  The mods will not be running the fights, so players are encouraged to handle the battle threads however they see fit.  This is also a chance for everyone to use their Personas, as battles fought in the digital realm still count toward unlocking new skills.  And those waiting to awaken their Persona for the first time may find it easier to do here!  Basically, it's just a free-for-all combat log like the monthly 13th Hour logs, so have fun with it!  ^_^))

[She's sorely tempted to walk away, and it's not easy to shake off her feelings about him. But on the other hand, Miyako doesn't want to waste her energy on being angry at him.

So how does she even feel about him?
]

No, I'm not.

[Knowing him, he's here out of curiosity. Alcor's fascination is one of the things she remembered.

Orochi looks at Alcor, cautious and curiously. He can tell there's something between his contractor and that being, but does he bother asking?
]

...Is this your first time inside a network like this?

[With how Nicaea was programmed and designed, Miyako would almost believe he do it before.]
jumyouboshi: i spent like 3 hours on this and it still looks kinda awful (CONVERSE ✵ the voice calling out so)

[No Orochi, don't step into family drama. It'll be better for everyone. Save yourself.]

Yes. Entering a network while maintaining a form such as this is beyond my programming capability.

[True, he could manipulate the world's "data"/molecules in a sense, he couldn't...do this through sheer skill and ability. What was once mere electronic signals, transformed into this virtual landscape, all at the hands of humans. So fascinating. So wonderful.]

[But what if Miyako gives him an order.]

I'm almost not surprised by that.

[If Alcor can do it, Botis probably wouldn't need to possess Fumi. And it's just yet another fact that he's not as all-powerful as her younger self believed.]
jumyouboshi: i decided i liked it better in black and white (SIDEGLANCE ✵ choked with tears)

[Orochi, we hardly knew ye.]

Almost?

[The tiniest flicker of an amused smile.]

[Noooooo.

Is that a smile she see there? Miyako crosses her arms.
]

Almost.

[Is he going to comment on that?]

[Messing with Hotsuins is always a good pastime. But of course, he realizes that it's not good to press too far, especially since they're already on very shaky terms (to say the least) given his previous...rampage. Sigh. Alcor decides to exercise some modicum of social knowledge for once, and changes subject.]

Are you also curious about this virtual landscape?

[Admittedly, he didn't think Miyako would be interested in programming and whatnot. The twins weren't involved in that sort of work, despite how much their duty demanded it. Even Yamato entrusted the demon summoning program mechanics and workings to JP's tech support (mainly Fumi), and left it in their hands when he registered for Nicaea after their members used it on a trial by trial basis.

Of course Alcor would know that Yamato Hotsuin and Miyako Hotsuin registered for Nicaea. For him, it would have been difficult to miss those two particular names.]

[A wise decision. While Miyako's anger at Alcer dulled with time, she can't forget about their shaky...relationship.]

Only a little. I'm mainly here to get rid of the viruses.

[The lag on the electronics she uses is bothersome. Fumi is busy at work with the network, leaving Miyako free to enter the cyberspace at her choice.

It's better for her to fight the viruses in Fumi's place, given their talents. She only have some basic familiarity with programming from talking with Fumi, but Miyako's largely more interested in the practical aspects of work.

[Or rather, the tattered remains of their relationship.]

Ha...I see. They should be little trouble for you.

[At least, judging from his own strength. However, that wasn't a very good indicator of how weak or strong an entity was, given that Alcor is...Alcor. He floats up to a virus, as if to emphasize his point.]

[Not even a single string (hah) that's barely connected.]

They're not.

[After the novelty wears off, Miyako doesn't even feel challenged at all. Miyako watches him and the virus. Yet again, she's not too worried about him because she knows his strength quite well.]

I wouldn't doubt if there's a stronger virus somewhere in this space.
jumyouboshi: (SUDDEN ✵ choices block our way)

[Give him a moment, Miyako. Even though he's mostly used to sensing potential more than anything else (and what he's interested in, more than anything else), he can certainly somewhat sense and gauge the power of certain beings. It really helped that these viruses were demonic in nature.

He presses his hand to his mouth, looking away from her and seemingly lost in thought, before he responds.]

...You would be correct. They are located in the center of these hordes.

[She can be patient enough. For all of her strength and skills, Alcor is still better than her in certain aspects.

At his answer, a slight smile appears on her face. Maybe these will amuse and challenge her better.
]

How unsurprising. [She looks over at where she see some viruses in the distance. Hm, to walk over there or ride one of her demons...]
jumyouboshi: (AMUSEMENT ✵ as you cry your eyes out)

[personal profile] jumyouboshi 2013-07-30 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Are you going to face them?

[He asks, but he already knows the answer. He hardly needs to tell her "be careful" or "good luck", or anything of the sort.]
capitalbackup: (Default)

[personal profile] capitalbackup 2013-08-01 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[The question is rhetorical. Of course she would seek them out and make sure this end sooner.

Without another word, she walks of towards where the stronger viruses are. Orochi follows behind her.

...Yes, not even a "later". Unsurprisingly.
]
jumyouboshi: (& YAMATO ✵ a tiny bit of your sadness)

[personal profile] jumyouboshi 2013-08-03 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[How rude, Miyako.

Thankfully, Alcor doesn't call her out on it. It'd be somewhat hypocritical of him, after all, since he's not exactly the paragon of good manners himself.

He simply lets her leave.]
