Owain, Heroic Scion of Legend! ([personal profile] twitchyswordhand) wrote in [community profile] destinystrings2013-07-24 08:31 pm

Spoilers, the volunteering was for who'd get challenged.

Who: Owain, Morgan, and Lucina. And anyone else who feels like jumping in.
Where: The park.
Summary: Kids bond, go LARPing? Frolic in the park? Have a sudden deathmatch? I don't know.
Warnings: Large hams.

And that was when Owain turned to Morgan (who was over...there, doing whatever it was that Morgan felt like doing, and you know what was still weird? the fact that was Morgan but...not Morgan...but cool as peop- anyway) and dramatically declared, "Halt, Morgan! For I have realized our connection, our cosmic incongruity, that which has anointed you as my destined rival."

This was somewhat undermined by Owain promptly stuffing the second half of the cookie he was eating into his mouth.

Morgan did indeed halt... right in the middle of chewing his own mouthful of cookie. The desserts here were actually really good (especially since back home people only ever seemed to want to bake pies.)

"Huh?" was his first response, but then he remembered his manners and also an idea of what Owain might mean. He swallowed the cookie. "Oh, wait. By 'anointed', you mean we should do battle, right?" He still couldn't slip into 'Justice Cabal' mode as effortlessly as Owain could. Which was probably a good thing.

Lucina was chewing on her own cookie (seriously, these things were delicious), staring between the two with the tiniest amount of hesitance. She had heard of the Justice Cabal - but really, who in the army hadn't? - mostly from Owain, but to actually join one of their, er, training sessions? That was an entirely different story.

For now, she found it in her best interest to sit down on the side of the action, underneath the shade of a tree. Actually, she probably finds this the best way to go until Morgan and Owain are done.

"Of course! Don't worry, I already know the rules." He would wait for Owain to finish shouting his move names before he came up with godmode reasons they didn't hit.

As Owain looked over at Lucina, Morgan followed his gaze and briefly wondered if she understood what was going on. She'd never hung around their battles before. Then again, they weren't particularly quiet when playing. Battling. And although he couldn't remember it, maybe they'd done the same things as children, too?

But thoughts like that could wait. The epic battle was about to commence. Morgan got to his feet, taking a challenging stance.

"I accept your challenge, mortal foe! ...And I also give you the honor of making the first move. You're a lot better at setting the scene, anyway."

An answer to Morgan's question - Lucina didn't really understand what was going on. This was her first time hearing of the rules that surrounded the Justice Cabal; her expectations, at most, were them shouting long move names at each other as they trained. Or something like that. If Cynthia was involved, it probably also involved extremely flashy entrances.

Needlessly to say, her expectations weren't exactly very high. Though, listening to them discuss it made it seem like there was more to this than she originally thought.

So while Lucina kept her silence under the shade, her expression turned from amusement, to mild surprise, then back to amusement. Time to listen to Owain's - er - fanciful way of speech.

Morgan knew the look. It was the look born from the friendly rivalship of two men, forged in the heart of glorious mock battle. Even without remembering, Owain understood.

"My blade stands ready!" His nonexistent blade. "Deliver your blow, if you dare!"
