They always say the first day on a new job is always the hardest.

But tell me...did those tasks include being taken from your own homeworld, dumped into a city you didn't recognize, meeting a man dressed in the purest of whites with a butterfly mask, to be bestowed the power of Persona, and then having some Men in Black lead you to the city hall saying you were expected?

What a way to start the first of September...

As they usher the last of you in, you realize that they've been preparing this for quite a while. There is a small table with food on the right, mixed cuisine (although the main theme seems to be Japanese dishes). Some strange computer program appears next to you and seems to be translating what you are saying so those before you understand. Language barriers? Don't be silly!

Most of the men ignore you after that. You are expected to mingle amongst yourselves a bit before the main 'show' starts, it seems....

Wait; what's a Persona?

At least Jun's initial entry into this place had been a pleasant and question free one, right? Probably because she had assumed this whole place was some kind of passed-out-from-too-much-swordplay dream she was having. It took almost three minutes and twenty seconds before she realised that wasn't the case, but by then it was too late to even try and ask any questions she had. Such is life.

That's also why she's walking around with two drinks in hand and is currently offering one to anyone she comes across.]

If you tell me what a Persona is then I'll give you a drink, okay? Deal?

[Yu blinked at the offer, confused. What...?]

...the drinks are free.

[Then go get your own drink, Souji, sheesh.]

Are you saying that we should load up our pockets with free juice and snacks before we leave here?

[Yu glanced over at the food. Hunh... he hadn't thought of that, but it sounded like a good idea. After all, who knew if they would be expected to get a job and fend for themselves in this place.]

How do you wanna do this? I'll swipe any candy they have and you take the other stuff; and we'll meet up and split the loot later?

[Besides, it wouldn't be fair if they took everything before other people had a chance to eat...]

Doesn't mean we can't secure some midnight snacks before I find out, does it?

So do you know what a Persona is all about?

"I 'unno." He says around a mouthful of balls takoyaki.

"I guess it's a way to protect you, isn't it?" From what he gathered, anyway.

Jun takes in what she just heard before stealing a quick glance to her waist. Out of the two swords she should have in her possession she currently has none.

They must be in her new place, like she was told. Great.

"I usually have swords for that, what makes a Persona so different?"

[awww_yeeeeeaaaah]

"It's maaaaaagiiiiiiiiiiic."

He says this while spreading his hands and wiggling his fingers in a very dramatic way.

"But I can't use magic... or I couldn't use it back home, anyway."

She can't take her eyes off of those fingers though, and she can't help smiling and this kids antics while she's at it.

"I'm a ninja not a magician; so totally not the same thing."

[awww_yeeeeeaaaah]

"...You're a ninja?"

Really. She was born and raised as a ninja bodyguard.

"Do you think that means I can trade in my magic Persona for some ninja weapons instead?"

...Banking on his (precisely ten adrenaline-filled minutes) of previous experience with what he retroactively assumes was a Persona, Ryu attempts to formulate an answer.

"Try asking it. I'm pretty sure they talk."

"You mean I should talk to myself?"

Because... she does that from time to time but it's really more of a 'let's go get changed' or 'I'm hungry' sort of thing. Nothing like this.

"Did you speak to your one or something?"

"It was one-way. It spoke to me."

Because he was sort of in too much of a crisis situation to really be saying much of anything back...

Boy does he sound several shades of crazy right around now.

"You mean like when voices telling you to do stuff?"

Because honestly that's a little bit worrying. Maybe.

I mean not to Jun, come on.

"As long as they aren't telling you to burn stuff then it's fine."

At the 'burn stuff' line, Ryu brings up a gloved fist to awkwardly cough into, considering he'd pretty much initiated all of the burning of things after the voice's egging -

- but she doesn't have to know that!

"..Exactly."

When he coughs she just ignores it. Even if he did burn something should wouldn't have a problem with him. At all.

"So what did it tell you? Did it tell you to grope people? Or peep at them? That sort of thing?"

[ One such person she approaches starts to say something but is interrupted by a yawn. ]

Ah -- sorry. ... I already have a drink... [ It's strong coffee! ] But I can tell you a bit about Personas anyway...

I already heard something about it a few moments ago, but now I'm kinda worried about what mine will look like. I seriously don't want to have a giant louse in my soul.

Please tell me that's impossible or something. Please.

[ . . . well. He doesn't remember any giant lice in his compendium... But he did have a strange collection of personas over the course of his own journey this past year... So he can't in all honesty discount the possibility.

Still, it doesn't seem particularly nice to say so bluntly... ]

I think it's very unlikely you'd have something like that as your persona. They're often things from myths and legends like gods and demons.

That's great news! Narukami-san told me I'd have a giant head lice as my Persona.

[She slaps Minato on the back in a totally friendly manner]

What should I call you, bringer of good news?

[ Well, he doesn't mind the slap, and he's glad to have made her a little more happy. ]

Ah - my name is Minato Arisato.

[ And then he waits for her name, since he doesn't want to think of her as head louse girl. ]

So I take it this place isn't completely new to you, huh?
