Summary: Kazuya looking for a job - well, trying to, anyway.
Warnings: Demon Overlords do not do jobs.

Kazuya had come to an unfortunate truth.

He needed a job.

He couldn't go back to his own world with his Bel powers on the fritz, so until he discovered a way to get them working again, or a portal home of some sort, he would have to get comfortable for the amount of time he would stay here. Which meant he would need to get an income, i.e a job.

It was a bit weird to think about, really, since he had thought that doing something as mundane as working was beyond him now. His days were to be filled with the war against God, not doing human work things. Could he even consider himself human anymore? Probably not. He found it hard to think in human terms at times and even his ability to empathise was starting to erode away.

But that was depressing to think about. Let's go back to the lesser evil: working.

Kazuya thought that it would be best to go through the Virgo ward, since it was the shopping ward, but nothing really enticed him. He couldn't see himself working retail - he doubted he could keep his temper if he had to deal with difficult customers - but there wasn't much else. Maybe he could do warehouse work...

Urrrrgh...

So here, have a frustrated looking Demon Overlord mooching about the shops. Got job offers? Brilliant! If you want to simply bug him? Even better!

Nessiah takes it from him. "It wouldn't suit me either. Thankfully there are more jobs than that available."

"Are there? I haven't been here long so..." Kazuya trailed off, frowning slightly. "Know any jobs then? Aaha, wait," abruptly, the Demon Overlord laughed and waved his hand with a small grin, "Man my manners have gone downhill. I'm Kazuya."

"Nessiah." Nessiah smiled just a little. "I've been looking into becoming a librarian - at least the people who need help seeking books are marginally more intelligent than those seeking groceries, the theory is."

"Unless they're looking for trashy romance novels," Kazuya said slyly. Hm, a library, huh? Nah, he would die of boredom in there... "Well you look like the bookish type, so it would probably suit you."

"You judge too quickly," Nessiah chided. "But in this case you're correct."

"Then me judging quickly was pretty damn good, mm?" Kazuya said cheekily, placing a hand on his hip. Hm, he was curious but should he ask...? Ah, let's ask. "So...how do you see out of that mask, anyway? Is it transparent on one side, or...?"

"Magic," he explains with a smile. "My eyes were lost a long time ago, so the mask is more to keep people from staring in horror rather than just puzzlement, and it works well for that."

Kazuya winced slightly. "Ah, that must've been painful. Guess I could understand that, though..."

Magic to see without eyes though, that was kind of cool. He didn't know if his Bel powers could do that.

"So you're a wizard then?"

"That is one way to phrase it," Nessiah answered, calm as ever. Wizard, magician, necromancer - in the end, they amounted to about the same thing.

Kazuya seemed to stare at Nessiah closely, as if sizing him up, his red eyes narrowing a little. "So, what can you do with your magic then?"

"Plenty of things. You'll have to be more specific." Nessiah smiled at that, a bit smugly.

Kazuya let out a snort. "Cheeky- fine. Can you only do nifty little enchantments like, seeing without eyes, or can you actually fight with it?"

"Of course I can. I would demonstrate for you, if you have the time later."

Kazuya's eyes spark with thrilled curiosity. "I've got nothing but time."

"Then we should make an arrangement to test this later, somewhere not in a utility store." Nessiah giggles softly. "The shop owner would never forgive us."

"Well, yeah, no shit," Kazuya looked about as if expecting the owner to morph out of the shadows to frown disapprovingly at him. "We can do it whenever, 13th Hour or whatever."

"I believe the 13th Hour would suit us just fine. As for the location, perhaps the Capricorn district...?" he asked.

"Which district's that?" Kazuya asked with a frown. "I'm still a bit, uh, well...I haven't memorised the outlay of the city."

"The empty field," Nessiah explained. "Perfect for such demonstrations."

"Hm...sure," Kazuya shrugged. An empty field sounded good. No interesting things to blow up but...oh well, least he won't have to worry about paying for collateral damage.

Nessiah can't afford things like that yet. And neither can you, jobless Kazuya.

"Shall we set a date?"

"Yeah. I'm good for whenever. Today, tomorrow, day after, yadda yadda," Kazuya waved a hand dismissively. "You?"

"I'm available," Nessiah answered with a smile.

"Then we'll do it tonight," Kazuya grinned a bit ferally that the thought.

"I'm quite looking forward to it. Have we any other business?" Nessiah asked, looking at his shopping basket.
