A year might seem so little at first, but for a city like Hinoto-Ri, progress had been steady. And how would it have been without you? Hard to say. Regardless, there were some appreciative people of your hard work, and thus you were warned ahead of time of a little celebration that would be held in your honor, this Friday (FRIDAY! FRIDAY!)

Nothing too outrageous, you had been promised. After all, budgets had to be made and citizens had to be saved. Something more akin to a fun party with friends and the city. An open note sent out to all citizens if they so wanted to join in.

There was quite a turnout! The lure of fun and food drew people from all the wards and words of encouragement and thanks were given to you freely. Maybe because some of them had drank too much sake.

The booths are bustling with activity. There's food for everyone as merchants try to outdo each other with both traditional food and more exotic ones; Corn on the cob, Pumpkins, Yaki Imo (Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes), Ramen stands, Falafel, caramelized apples, octopus sausages on sticks...

There are also signup sheets for competitions tonight. While townspeople can join, the big draw is to see the Visitors attempt the typical school festivals, such as the swimsuit competition and the dress competition (for both male and women!).

...yeah maybe they just have a good sense of humor. Which is good! A happy city means, at least, for a little while, people can forget what's happening and maybe the place is going to flourish more with hope.

So hopefully you can show them that by enjoying yourselves!

I, um. Well. I mean, Philemon probably knows all about you...

[Blaming things on Philemon was generally a good choice.]

Philemon-san, why would you do this?

[She's not even sure if he can hear her, so she's just yelling up at the sky.]

M-Maybe part of saving the city is, uh, increasing its profits so it can be more sustainable.

But does it have to be like this?

It does seem to dive right into 'gross violation of privacy'. You could probably take legal action or something.

[Nano blinks. That sort of thing is completely over her head.]

Aha... That was mostly a joke. I don't think Philemon is up for being sued.

I wonder how many people have already seen these...

...I can scribble over your face if you'd like. They can't do anything about it since they didn't ask permission to market your face on their merchandise, anyway.

I think most people could still tell it was me.

[She frowns, turning one of the action figures around and pointing at the key.]

That's normal for action figures! ...Some of them. They have to... wind up to work. Back in the day, anyway.

I haven't seen any others here that look like that.

I bet if we look around, we'll find some wind-up toys. C'mon.

[Atsuro thinks it's probably a poor idea to let Nano sit around staring at her own action figures. He attempts to guide her away.]

[Nano is all too glad to follow.]

[Wind up toys, sadly, are a product of the past, and Atsuro stops looking for them after he walks past another stand selling nothing but battery operated toys.

He pauses.]

Hey, look! Takoyaki!

[...Very subtle.]

[It doesn't take much with Nano, especially when she's desperate for a distraction.]

Let's go buy some!

[Distractions are never a bad thing. Atsuro quickly makes his way over with Nano in tow, already taking out his wallet.]

I skipped dinner to come to this thing. Let's get a lot.

Are you sure? I can pay for mine.

I'll pay for all of it so I don't feel bad when I consume half of it in one bite. It's more fair that way.

[Atsuro grins slightly before turning to the vendor and handing over the card.]

Well, if you say so... as long as you let me buy for you sometime!

Hehe... If you beat me to your card next time, you can pay; how about that?

[The vendor returns the card and hands over several small trays of the delicious snack. Atsuro will pass one to Nano.]

Okay! It'll be like a race!

[Nano giggles to herself before taking one of the trays.]

The most delicious race.

[Atsuro will attempt to lead a migration towards a bench close by now, scanning about for anyone who might try to take it before him.]

It's awfully nice of them to do this - I mean, I thought we were struggling to stay in their good graces, still.

Yes, it's such a relief to know they're not suspicious of us anymore.
