A year might seem so little at first, but for a city like Hinoto-Ri, progress had been steady. And how would it have been without you? Hard to say. Regardless, there were some appreciative people of your hard work, and thus you were warned ahead of time of a little celebration that would be held in your honor, this Friday (FRIDAY! FRIDAY!)

Nothing too outrageous, you had been promised. After all, budgets had to be made and citizens had to be saved. Something more akin to a fun party with friends and the city. An open note sent out to all citizens if they so wanted to join in.

There was quite a turnout! The lure of fun and food drew people from all the wards and words of encouragement and thanks were given to you freely. Maybe because some of them had drank too much sake.

The booths are bustling with activity. There's food for everyone as merchants try to outdo each other with both traditional food and more exotic ones; Corn on the cob, Pumpkins, Yaki Imo (Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes), Ramen stands, Falafel, caramelized apples, octopus sausages on sticks...

There are also signup sheets for competitions tonight. While townspeople can join, the big draw is to see the Visitors attempt the typical school festivals, such as the swimsuit competition and the dress competition (for both male and women!).

...yeah maybe they just have a good sense of humor. Which is good! A happy city means, at least, for a little while, people can forget what's happening and maybe the place is going to flourish more with hope.

So hopefully you can show them that by enjoying yourselves!

[Akane is holding up one of the cards.]

You have your own trading cards! You look so cool!

I... I did not authorize this. [HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY.]

[She doesn't see a problem yet, so her enthusiasm is undaunted.]

They made stuff with me on it too! Do you want to see?

[Without waiting for a response, she reaches into her bag and pulls out a very well made figure of herself in her school uniform.]

Look!

[There's a short second where his skin goes cold because he was afraid it might be one of those hideous pillows he's been seeing around, but he's relieved to see it's not.]

Ah, that's... nice. [He means it, that's pretty cool.] But they haven't asked us for permission for this. It's a little invasive.

Isn't it? They had another one of me in a bathing suit, but I only had enough money for one of them.

[He doesn't seem too happy with the whole thing though, so her enthusiasm dampens slightly.]

But making this stuff means they like us, right? We're famous!

It would be flattering if some of the merchandise wasn't so, ah, suspect. Did they really have one of you in a swimsuit? Plus, you need permission to use someone's likeness for things like this. But it certainly hasn't slowed them down.

[With a small sigh, he turns to the vendor, holding up the cards.] How many of these do you have? I'm taking them all.

Suspect?

[She echoes the word in confusion, watching as the incredulous sales person completes the transaction.]

You're really buying all of them? What are you going to do with them all?

Keep them out of circulation. I don't really like this. I don't want to be famous.

Why not? I think it would be fun...

[She's only imagining the positive aspects of fame right now.]

[Okay, Nikolai, stop being such a kill joy. He takes his card and pays the vendor, and then turns to Akane. He manages to give her a small smile.]

There's nothing wrong with it. But don't let anyone take advantage of you, either. What if they started making merchandise you didn't like? Or did something like use your face on advertisements for something you didn't agree with? Just be vigilant about these things.

[Okay, some of that does sound pretty bad. She frowns.]

I guess I wouldn't like that.... But maybe if someone did I could just talk to them about it.

This is why famous people have things like managers. But... we're not famous people. We're Visitors. If things get really out of hand, I suppose we can talk to the government officials about it.

How do we know when things are 'out of hand?'

[She's wondering where they should draw the line. She doesn't care if they want to put her face on a coffee mug or something, but someone else might.]

Well... [He looks around at the other booths for a moment, and spots one selling one of those terrible body pillows featuring young Transports. He points at that, frowning.]

That is out of hand.

The pillows? Why?

[She's too sheltered to understand what they're used for.]

They, ah... Some of the poses are... provocative. Adult. [He doesn't know how else to say it to her. THIS ISN'T HIS JOB.]

Adult...?

[She frowns.]

So they shouldn't be selling them to kids?

Correct. Along with some other merchandise you've likely not seen. [Some guy offered him a pin-up of Fumi earlier. Creepy.]

So are the people selling this stuff gonna get in trouble?

Possibly. Depends on if any of the Visitors take action against them, or if the local government cares to stop them, I suppose.

Maybe if we just ask them nicely they'll stop selling the bad stuff.

I doubt they're going to listen. [He watches as a customer walks off with one of those pillows.] Things seem to be selling well.

Then... what should we do?
