A year might seem so little at first, but for a city like Hinoto-Ri, progress had been steady. And how would it have been without you? Hard to say. Regardless, there were some appreciative people of your hard work, and thus you were warned ahead of time of a little celebration that would be held in your honor, this Friday (FRIDAY! FRIDAY!)

Nothing too outrageous, you had been promised. After all, budgets had to be made and citizens had to be saved. Something more akin to a fun party with friends and the city. An open note sent out to all citizens if they so wanted to join in.

There was quite a turnout! The lure of fun and food drew people from all the wards and words of encouragement and thanks were given to you freely. Maybe because some of them had drank too much sake.

The booths are bustling with activity. There's food for everyone as merchants try to outdo each other with both traditional food and more exotic ones; Corn on the cob, Pumpkins, Yaki Imo (Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes), Ramen stands, Falafel, caramelized apples, octopus sausages on sticks...

There are also signup sheets for competitions tonight. While townspeople can join, the big draw is to see the Visitors attempt the typical school festivals, such as the swimsuit competition and the dress competition (for both male and women!).

...yeah maybe they just have a good sense of humor. Which is good! A happy city means, at least, for a little while, people can forget what's happening and maybe the place is going to flourish more with hope.

So hopefully you can show them that by enjoying yourselves!

"This is Desco's TRUE FORM!"

Oh, jeez. This little girl turns into that thing?

He thinks about it for a moment, then nods. "You're cool."

GRIN GRIN GRIN.

"Thank you! Tell Desco your name!"

[resipiscent]

"Heh. I'm Riku." He's holding out a hand to shake now -- the metal one. Don't get goo on it, Desco.

A slight pause, and Desco just sort of stares at Riku skeptically.

"...Desco is guessing you don't know that electronics are one of her favorite foods."

In other words, extended that metal hand is like waving raw steak under a shark's nose.

He looks down at his hand, then lowers it and offers the other one.

"I don't. How about flesh? Will you shake?"

[tyrantball]

Desco quickly turns her claws into small red fingers and shakes Riku's flesh hand.

"Desco's full name is Death/Extermination Submersible Combat Organism Kazamatsuri, Mr. Riku! She also has cool titles, like Queen of Evil Deeds and Homeroom Teacher!"

[resipiscent]

Homeroom teacher?

"Do you teach something, then?" He couldn't not ask.

"Yes! Desco teaches Basic Minionology at Evil Academy! That is where Big Sis and Desco brainwash our students into being loyal followers!"

[resipiscent]

"Oh, so you're a bad guy?" He doesn't smell too much darkness on her, though -- she can't be that bad.

[tyrantball]

Nod nod nod.

"Yes! Desco steals lunches and jaywalks and sometimes she kills people!"

Slight pause and a shy grin.

"Desco only learned recently that killing people is bad, so sometimes she forgets to add that to her list of evil deeds. She has a Skull Throne she made from the Anoli she killed!"

She beams up at Riku with her tail wagging, waiting to be praised.

Okay, murder? Murder's no good. But jaywalking and stealing lunches just sounds like a school bully. Reminds him of that Seifer kid, who probably wouldn't be above stealing a lunch every now and again, or at least lunch money.

"Uh, yeah, killing people's pretty bad."

What do you even say to that?

Desco puffs up with pride, the eyes on her torso shining.

"Right, right! Desco is evil and depraved! A shadowy paragon of wickedness and cuteness!"

Her very best wide, beaming smile.

"A living weapon programmed to destroy and be the perfect little sister!"

[resipiscent]

"That's quite a combination. So whose little sister are you? Do I know her?" Probably not, but he met lots of people from other worlds, so it's possible.

[tyrantball]

"Desco's Big Sis is named Fuka Kazamatsuri! She has long brown hair and is the most beautiful girl in the universe."

Desco is very earnest as she relates this undeniable truth.

"Okay, not someone I know." There was a chance, though. "I think you're cute too, though." Even though she has eyes everywhere.

"Yaaaay!"

Here, have a hug, Riku.

He wasn't expecting that, but he'll roll with it. Touch makes him a little wary, and his shoulders tense, but he returns the hug. "You're welcome."
