Child Event and Blackout Log

Where: Around the city and in the apartments
When: November 15-18
Summary: Little kids everywhere!  Also the power grid is on the fritz.
Warnings: Hopefully none!

With the network and the city's electricity once again malfunctioning, the power to most of the city has either been knocked out or is malfunctioning.  And since inconvenient things rarely happen in a vacuum in Hinoto-Ri, a portion of the city has also been affected by some strange new curse, reverting to childlike forms.  Business in and around the city has ground to a standstill due to the power problems, and without functioning heat in the apartments, extra blankets and huddling together for warmth are the order of the day.  It's still possible to go outside as the government hasn't imposed any additional curfews, and the demons during the 13th Hour are as active as ever, but some people may just want to ride this out until everything is back to normal.

"You're looking for her? What does she look like? I can help you if you want!"

Since he's really got nothing else he needs or wants to do at the moment. Besides, his parents had taught him that it's good to help people in need, so it's only natural that he would do exactly that!

Sarah holds her hands about four inches apart.

"She's about this long, and her blade is really sharp and short. Um...her handle is made of this really old material called 'wood'? I dunno what it comes from, but it's kind of a dark brown color."

"......."

There's something wrong with this...

"Your mom's made out of wood?"

"No, just her handle is. The rest of her's made out of metal, like a proper knife."

...her mom is a knife.

"Why is your mom a knife?"

"She just lives in the knife. She had to go somewhere when she died, after all."

"People don't live in knives. 'Sides, how can she live in one if she's dead?"

Aren't you supposed to go to heaven or come back as something else if you die, anyway?

"Duh, everyone knows that when you die your soul goes into the thing that killed you."

...uh.

"That's not true! That's not what happens at all!"

He doesn't sound especially upset or anything. He just knows that his parents never said anything like that, so obviously, she must have it wrong.

"Well then where does it go?"

[bondsofsuffering]

"It goes to heaven and then after a while it comes back as somebody else."

...Considering the mixed ideas he's heard at this point, that actually came out surprisingly coherent.

"...what's a 'heaven'?"

[bondsofsuffering]

"It's the place where you go when you die!"

Obviously.

"So why can't Mom's heaven be inside her knife?"

[bondsofsuffering]

"Because heaven is in the sky, not a knife." He sounds a little impatient, shifting from foot to foot. "Why do you have a knife anyway? Aren't they s'posed to be dangerous?"

"'Course it's dangerous. If I get eaten, I at least wanna stab th' thing before I die."

[bondsofsuffering]

His eyes go wide right then. "What do you mean, eaten?"

"By the Aragami. They eat everything."

Her voice lowers to a conspiratory whisper.

"One time, I saw this old building, and it had this big hole from where an Aragami ate straight through."

[bondsofsuffering]

That gets him to pause for a moment, only to say: "That can't be true."

He'd watched movies with giant monsters before, but his parents always told him they weren't real. So something like that shouldn't be possible, either.

"I really did see it! It's proof they don't just eat humans!"

[bondsofsuffering]

"Monsters like that aren't real. That's just what you see in movies."

Definitely looking bored now. "So you're looking for a knife? The police probably picked it up. I don't think they're gonna give a knife to us."

[dontrunawayfromliving]

"It wasn't a movie that ate my Dad."

And a slight pause.

"And what's the police? Why would they steal Mom, anyway?"

[bondsofsuffering]

"Police are people who help you when you get lost and protect people from bad guys." He rattles it off as well-known information. And then: "You don't even know what police are?"

"Oh, you mean the God Eaters. I'm gonna be one when I grow up."
