[For a moment, the boy is frozen in place, as if he can't quite believe what's coming out of Nano's mouth. Then... a nod.]

If... If you can really believe in that, then... You're better than I am, Nano.

[Very clear. He turns away again now and allows his gaze to settle on some skyscraper off in the distance.]

Being here like this... Being here in this world and thinking that we can just.... sort of pretend everything's OK.

...Uh.

[Atsuro's smile falters somewhat at this response before he gives a slight cough.]

N-No, well. ...I mean. I don't think anyone actually does.

[He turns to look back at the TV for a moment.]

But... even if we don't have something like that... it's nice to imagine it, isn't it?

Kotoha just sort of...side-eyes the Shadow at that, making sure not to let her baton drop.

"You don't really have to be selfless to be a hero, you know. And, uh...I hate to burst your bubble, Evil Clone Guy, but I'm currently pretty inclined to take anything you say with a grain of salt - you know, because of the whole thing where you're an evil clone."

[Okay, that did hit a little close to home. She's been treating Hinoto-Ri as a sort of vacation. But really, does she even want to go back and face what was happening back home?]

Well.... what's wrong with that?

Shadow Hizumi dodges it very casually, taking a single step to the side to ensure he's out of the bullet's line of fire. Ayumu's aim had been off to begin with, so it wasn't that difficult.

It's the sensation of the blood dripping onto his skin that brings him back to full alertness right away. Ayumu had been badly hurt - it hardly takes a genius to see that. But the reason he remains there is because--

Hizumi. If that other Ayumu hits him, he really will die.

Although he doesn't move, he doesn't have to in order to summon Yaiba again. Even the Persona bears an unusual serious look as it casts its spell on his partner's counterpart.

He is quiet for a moment.

We're not even from the same place. ...Can we really feel the same way about each other...? Is this really... true?

There's nothing wrong with caution or fear, it doesn't make someone weak. What does is the person who throws caution to the wind, it takes a balance to be powerful. If I take you at your word, you're no stronger for being separated from all of the aspects you deem weak.

Tell me, out of curiosity, what is it you deserve that you feel you need to take? Money? More short-sighted power?

"Fear... because you're so scared of everyone leaving you." Not really something he's familiar with, to be honest. He's the type who goes into relationships with that assumption from the beginning, even if it's him who would be doing the leaving.

But that sort of proves Atsuro right, now doesn't it?

"...Just why are you so afraid, anyway? You can't trust those friends of yours at all?"

That's a super really worrying thing to say!

"Trust makes you're vulnerable." He states it simply. "It's... ironic, isn't it? The thing that people fear most... is what they desire most, as well."

"What do you want!!" Noda hollers as he whirls around to look at Aoi. He freezes for a moment as the shadow version whimpers, in which he lets go of the grip only to stand before Aoi to block the view of the shadow.

"Do not look!! Leave!!! I have this under control!!"

The shadow, on the other hand, cowers to the normal Noda's yelling.

[She's silent for a long moment, then shrugs.]

Are we really that different? Can't we just be friends and not worry about it so much?

[She's trying hard to evade this line of conversation. It hovers too close to some uncomfortable thoughts she's been having.]

[Tao Tie resists many types of elements, but alas Earth is not one of them. The demon sustains heavy damage from the barrage of attacks from Kotoha's Pokemon, though it is not quite beaten yet. Dragging itself to its feet, it casts a Diarahan on its master.

Which is fortunate, considering that Kotoha's gamble paid off. Shadow Fumi's Persona is indeed weak to Light, and it lets out an inhuman shriek as the Kouha spell collides with it. The Shadow falls to the ground as well from the impact of the attack, immediately taking the full brunt of the blast from Agatha's lightning gun before its wounds are completely healed by Tao Tie. She'll still be spending her whole turn reeling from the attack, though, so the group has at least spared itself a counterattack for the time being.

...At least, spared a counterattack from the Shadow itself. Her Fenghuang and Lugh are still ready for battle, and each of them immediately releases a powerful attack. A wicked lightning bolt heads directly for Agatha from the sun-god's spear, and meanwhile Fenghuang releases a huge blast of fire - enveloping Kotoha and her Pokemon, but inflicting some damage on its fellow demons as well and finally finishing off the Tao Tie in the process.

Fumi herself, unable to sustain her own demons any longer, continues to fight with her Soul Persona. Unexpectedly, it begins to flash and warp, and seems to draw power directly from Agatha and Kotoha as it explodes into a flash of bright light. There in its place are now two new Personas, which begin speaking in unison.]

Good news, everyone!

[Fumi's Shadow smirks even as it's still recovering from the Kouha.]

There's no denying it now. Look at what the power of friendship has called forth.

[Fumi's eyebrow twitches, and she lets out a small sigh.]

...Good news indeed. Fine, then. Let's see what you both can do.

[The ancient professor is the first to act, cackling madly as he pulls out a death ray of his own, aiming it at the group of enemies and firing. The Shadow and all of the demons are caught in the blast, taking medium Almighty damage as the explosion envelops them.]

Impressive.

[Fumi grunts, narrowing her eyes at the Shadow.]

If you want your other self, you should come and claim him on your own. You can't expect everything to simply be handed to you without doing any work. Prove you deserve this.

[She glances to the real Even.]

Will you fight?

I caught you just now! And you shouldn't have it because you didn't pay for it!

It's all right, nothing will happen while you're here. I'm not sure how, but no time passes in our own worlds while we're in this place.

[Nano looks a tiny bit sheepish as she admits that, since she has nothing in particular to back it up aside from word of mouth, but hopefully it'll set the other girl at ease.]

It's good to help people, though! And it's good to meet you, Miko-san. My name is Nano Shinonome.

[The shadow noticeably starts looking irritated at how stubborn Aoi is being. He throws his head back as he yells, letting a large stream of fire up into the sky like a flamethrower.

This is around when the real Zioryle finds his shadow's whereabouts and arrives at the scene. With how the surrounding is immersed in fire, he freezes in his path as panic rushes over his head. While he had an assumption of how his shadow might act, he wasn't expecting the city damage to be this bad.]

...This is... ["Too much" is what he wants to complete his thought with, but he's too lost for words.]

[The shadow, on the other hand, easily spots Zioryle and crackles a laugh before sending the persona out for another Maragi attack, this time towards Zioryle.]

Of course I will! You're a good person, Atsuro-san. You shouldn't doubt yourself.

Is hiding from it really the right thing to do?

[He sighs, and the distorted smile on his face fades away.]

Can you really be friends knowing something like this? The Atsuro you know... has left you, hasn't he?
