oh my god saionji what is it this time
Who: Takakage and Saionji (closed log)
Where: Libra Ward, 13th Hour
Summary: Takakage teaches Saionji how to use her persona.
Warnings: small shouty yellow subject, to quote Desco
big bro kobayakawaaaaaaaaa come help me with my persona
im in my room
The message was delivered in plain text as-is, with no explanation. Takakage sent three replies asking for more details, but Saionji didn't respond.
Sigh.
It had been merely a week since Saionji arrived. To be honest, he was surprised that she hadn't come running to him earlier. Perhaps she found someone else to do her bidding....
He arrived outside Saionji's apartment at eleven p.m.. Hopefully she hadn't fallen asleep - her message was sent an hour before that.
I'm outside. Could you open the door?

He follows Saionji away from the apartment blocks, stopping once they crossed two streets and arrived in a relatively large open space. "I think this place should do."
Turning to his Persona, he addresses her for the first time.
"Use your first skill, please." He preferred not to speak its name out loud - Saionji would certainly find opportunity to make fun of it.
The woman nods and spreads her arms, suffusing a faint oceanic fragrance into the air. A while later, a large hollow-looking demon comes floating around the corner.
do you wanna roll for chance or
In any case, she's... obviously less scared than before, but still showing more apprehension than she would like. "Okuni! Basic Analysis!" Her Persona steps back, taking just a moment to scan the demon.
"...Wicker Man, weak to Fire, Elec and Light. Nulls Dark." Whatever the hell that means. She steps back again, edging away from the demon, and decides to take matters into her own hands.
"Marin Karin!"
Welp. 40% charm chance, does she hit it-?!
rolled a 1d10, came up a 3, it hits
Takakage watched Saionji work some support skills - he would intervene only when necessary. The girl commanded her Persona to use Marin Karin - which actually managed to hit the demon. A swirl of pink mist enveloped the Wicker Man - while its stitched face did not change, the demon began to visibly totter and started lurching closer to Saionji.
"The demon is distracted. Now's your chance to attack it. Your Persona should have an offensive skill."
He readied a Muzzle Shot from Ondine, just in case.
goddammit
"Izumo-no-Okuni! Use 'Eiha'!"
Eiha, indeed. Okuni flicks her wrist, opening her fan in front of the demon's face and sending a blast of... something. It doesn't do much, though. It just... touches the demon and dissipates.
Uh.
"Big Bro Takakage, wasn't that an offensive attack?!"
gg
On hindsight, he should have asked what the offensive skill was. "Eiha is a Dark-element skill, which the demon isn't affected by."
Takakage frowned slightly, opening the time that he always carried with him. The book levitated upwards and hovered above his hand, turning to a vertical position with its open pages facing the demon. A second later, a bright energy beam shot out from the book, knocking the Wicker Man away from Saionji. The spell was carefully controlled so that the demon would be severely hurt, but not enough to kill it - just keep it on the brink of fainting.
"Hm, try hitting it with your Persona's fan. It's not a skill, but still reasonable..."
no subject
"Uuu... fine. Okuni! Hit it with your fan!"
The Persona obeys, going up and unceremoniously whacking the Charmed, hurt demon.
...
...did it just... die...

"Things don't always work out in your favour during battle." He sighed. "With experience, your Persona should learn more skills, and you'll be able to handle more varied opponents."
They learned one skill maximum per day and usage... so Okuni should have learned something. Right? Koppa Tengu did, but that might be only due to the fact that he had been bonding with it intensively.
"Well, that didn't go too badly."
idk what now do whatever
"I can use something new, though! Hmmm... Dream Needle?"
She looks at Takakage expectantly. Yeah, she wants you to explain. Sorry.
get onto plurk and we can plot fff
"Dream Needle is something that deals Physical damage with a small chance of inflicting the Sleep ailment." The skill's description comes to mind quite easily, as if he was reciting verses from a poem.
Of course, he had made it a point to learn as much about Personas as possible - and that involved staying in the Velvet Room for two days straight memorizing the entire skill list.
It was surprising how the attendants managed to put up with him.
But anyway.
"Well, would you like to try it out on a demon, then?"
no subject
"Well, okay then. Let's go find another demon!" She's not foolish enough to go off running around herself, and still sticks behind Takakage- she doesn't like relying on people like this, but it's only temporary.
no subject
This time, a few smaller demons pop up, cackling to themselves.
no subject
"Alright, then... Izumo-no-Okuni! Use Dream Needle!"
Her Persona gracefully brings two fans out of nowhere, and flicks them open in the Gremlins' direction, showering them with needles.
no subject
The demons dissolved into glitter.

It's too bad he's not someone she can jab in the face or the stomach for stress relief- she could... probably turn to beating up demons for that. "So, if I keep practicing, I can learn more skills up to a certain number, right?
Is there any way of knowing what I'll learn?"
no subject
His expression became more thoughtful at her second question. "Hmmm... I'm not so sure. I haven't been able to tell with regards to my Soul Persona so far, but with Public Personad I assume the attendants at the Velvet Room can tell you - since they have been registered in a compendium and all."
The strategist was about to continue speaking, but a low growl from behind a corner cut him short. A large canine demon prowled into the open space, eyeing the two humans.
Takakage unsheathed his sword, dismissing Ondine and summoning Koppa Tengu by his side.
"Don't make any sudden movements. If we startle it, it will attack.
no subject
Not again.
"Alright then! I'll go visit the 'Velvet Room' soo-" And the growls cuts her off, too. She's about to command Okuni, so it's a good thing Takakage responds quickly.
There's a desire to argue that she can help beat it!- but she knows perfectly well that he's the knowledgeable one here. She stands still, but not letting her knees slack. It's an energetic stillness, one reminiscent of the stages of Buyo dance. She's ready to bring into action, anytime, and it's more of someone pausing a video of her walking rather than her, well, stopping.
Please don't fuck up, Takakage.

"It can't choose who to go after." The strategist kept his voice to a whisper, just loud enough for Saionji to hear. "I can distract it for a while. When I give the signal, hit it with Dream Needle. Get ready."
He was still watching the canine intently. It seemed to be a beast of fire - then, water would be quite effective at dispatching it. He could draw water from his book, using the tome as a concentration point for atmospheric moisture. The Orthrus's heads seemed intent to go in opposite directions, but after a while they finally decided on attacking Saionji first. However, Takakage had already noticed the subtle shift in its position -
"Now!"
Slashing forward with his sword, he sent a shockwave towards the demon. The blue crescent was swiftly followed by a burst of water from his book. Koppa Tengu contributed its share of needle-sharp feathers as well.
Hopefully it would work.

This demon is... it's really big, isn't it...? Saionji is not good with animals, in the conventional sense. She doesn't know how to take care of them, or what eats what, and how to train them... but she does know how they squirm, and how their eyes shift when their focus does.
So, when it begins to paw towards her, she notices just a split-second after Takakage. "Dream Needle! Use Dream Needle!"
Hopefully it works, because if it doesn't, she's fucking running.

Takakage remained tense for a few more moments before he was convinced that the threat was truly gone. He relaxed slowly, and it was a while before he replaced the sword back into the strap that fastened it to his belt.
"You're not hurt, I hope?"
no subject
Um.
"Thankfully, no." She's apprehensive, though, because- yeah, she could sense the bit of tension, too. Takakage isn't invincible. Neither is she.
She should... go home.
"I'm tired! I'm going home." Whatever much of a home that apartment is, anyone. But it's- it's better than her clan, or... murderisland.
Saionji turns on her heels, walking back to her place without any warning. "...Thanks, Big Bro! Try not to die until I can fight well myself."
no subject
Koppa Tengou soared in front of him, keeping pace above the girl while he caught up.
"I suggest you pay a visit to the Velvet Room as soon as possible. It will help."
Other than that statement, the walk back to the apartment building is silent.
