Cataclysm [June 8th Open City Log for all Players]
Who: Open to All
Where: INSIDE the city.
When: From the 8th until the early morning of the 9th.
Summary: Something hits the barrier, and the entire city ends up in a state of panic.
Warnings: Depends on the players!
"Good morning, Hinoto-Ri! It is now eight in the morning, and time to buckle down for most of the working population! Please work hard for the sake of the city! Thank you! Weather today is more rain in the next hour and more rain until night in all the wards, no exceptions! The rain from the past few days continues to pour and--wait...what's that noise?"
A rumble was the first warning that something was wrong. The bustle of animals trying to escape the city was next, as birds gathered in the sky circling, unable to leave. It wasn't too long before the worst happened. Perhaps due to the morning fog and bad weather, it was impossible to see the giant object before it was too late, as it slammed against the city's protective barrier.
The entire city shook and was awoken to the sharp, painful sound of what could almost be a bomb going off, impossible to ignore. Buildings broke down as a giant earthquake rumbled for a few seconds, leaving in its wake a carnage of overturned vehicles, collapsing buildings and debris free-falling everywhere- the epicenter in the Leo Ward.
Whatever had caused this had already disappeared from view... Yet, those that had seen it crash would have noticed a large black form over city hall. A sort of stain in the barrier. Then, to the sound of screeching and windows breaking, a single giant piece of the crystal-like substance began to crack above in the sky, falling onto town hall. Just one piece, perhaps small compared to the barrier itself, but more than enough to cause severe property damage, sending half of the building tumbling right into the police headquarters and destroying part of that too.
Electricity went out in Leo, plunging the ward into near darkness. Apart from the hospital that instantly ran on auxiliary power, of course. The public network went down, depriving Hinoto-Ri of communication between the public, leaving only the visitor's own.
And while the barrier still held up, a very thin strand separating the world outside from Hinoto-Ri was now visible above the Leo Ward, casting a strange light over the carnage.
From the other wards, not everyone would know what happened right away. It almost seemed impossible, after all. A nightmare come to life.
It was over in barely a minute, but the city's entire face had drastically changed.

[OOC: This is the first of the upcoming event logs, and will take place on June 8th exclusively!
As of a note, that night, the 13TH HOUR WILL LAST 2 HOURS INSTEAD OF ONE so if you want to include that in one of your prompts, please go for it!
Characters can start their own threads, or reply to others. Subjects can be anything you think would make logical send during this day; keep in mind the city is in a state of panic and the public network is down, so anything goes from trying to save their apartments, to helping civilians to realizing what's going on during the 13 Hour. Make sure you mark down the time of your post so that other players are aware of when it's happening.
If you want information about the event, the post is here. Characters are HIGHLY encouraged to mingle with each other. NPCs and demons may show up in certain threads too, so keep your eyes peeled and have fun with each other!
A note to new players; there will be another log posted on the 9th for new players who wish to show up behind the barrier.]

"I'm in Virgo ward, by the 104," he starts. "I'm doin' alright at the moment - can see a few things runnin' around - but never mind me! Where are you? Are you okay?"
no subject
"I was around people but there was a particularly messy battle. Are you, ah, busy? I don't think it's a good idea to stay alone, so I was looking for someone in the area to join up with...."
no subject
"Tell me where ya are, I'm comin' for you," he responds with barely a pause, looking around to find the quickest route through. The idea of anyone being left alone out here - never mind that he was, doesn't matter, doesn't count - isn't something he wants to think about. "Hold tight."
no subject
"Do remember to watch your own back! The trick where players get caught off-guard because a young girl needs help is a really, really old one in the book- ah, there looks like a bit of a Thing up ahead, I'll take a while longer."
What's most likely her Persona makes another noise- something that sounds like an old-school arcade-game sound effect- before the transmission ends.
no subject
That one.
At least he can't mistake the location.
"The hell? This ain't about you bein' a girl, it's about you bein' on your own!" he replies, all confusion at what he's missing here. "Yeah, I'm watchin' out. Just watch yourself, then..."
Damn. Trouble on the way at his end, too. Still, if he keeps moving, keeps his own and his Persona's fire going, it shouldn't be anything too big to worry about. (He hopes, anyway.)
no subject
"-oh, my bad, we'll swap one detail out for another. There's also a trick where players get caught off-guard because it's not a young girl but anyone out on their own in the middle of a wasteland, that works too. Though that character usually turns out to be a zombie or possessed, in most games...."
"...by that logic I'd advise you to shoot the vulnerable-looking thing the moment you see it, these things usually appear in games like Silent Hill.... hm, nevermind. Bad analogy." There's the distant cry of a demon through the receiver, a noise that could also be heard in real life if you listened out for it.
"......hm, I think I see a commotion up ahead. Is that you? I'll head towards it- my Persona's a spaceship, see if you see it?"
no subject
"Probably, I think I just heard ya... If you can see the big metal lookin' Persona with the lights on it, that one's mine." Still heading onwards, here - aha, there it is! Okay, that's definitely not something that he was expecting to see, but who's he to judge anyone's Persona? "Yeah! Yeah, I've got -" His voice broke off for a moment as his Persona dropped a Torrent Shot at a demon chasing them - "got it!"
Definitely running, now.
no subject
The Galaga spaceship glides forward to meet Kanji, carrying its human's greeting (that would most definitely be lost in translation.) While Nanami bridges the gap between the two of them, slowing down as she sees him running, her Persona launches into action.
The girl shouts at him, "Hi!"
> Rakunda: Halves Enemy's Defense
no subject
"Hey!" he yells back at her, waving, not spending too long to look at what the spaceship-Persona's doing but at least recognising the spell. Ah, good choice! If she's taking the demon's defences down, he can concentrate on dropping another attack on it; a Zionga, this time, to see if it's any more prone to electricity.
He slows to a halt next to her, looking like he'd never been running at all. "You still doin' alright?" he asks, as if he hadn't been the one chased for this last stretch.
((do we specify a demon, or...?))
The girl pauses for a particularly deep breath. "Okay. What sort of skills does your Persona have? Offensive or non-offensive? And...." She coughs a little from all the exertion she doesn't seem to be too used to before calling for her Persona- "Galaga!"
> Dream Needle
[pew pew pew!]
"And. Sorry. Ah, I was saying....do you have info on that thing?"
Found one for now.
...Guess that thing's mostly attackin', too."
Speaking of attacking, they might want to get out of the way of the thing lunging in and whipping that tail of its around...
no subject
Backing away while facing the monster proves a little too slow for her purposes, even if it provided a good view of where that green thing was headed- Nanami's sprightly backwards skip is interrupted by a wrong step against an inconvenient bump in the road and she stumbles, flinging her hand out for balance. Oof-
Okay. Change of tactics. "Galaga, go on the support!" She twists her body and sprints in an arc away from where the noises- and the demon's mouth- are. At least she managed to avoid the attack, and her Persona's coming for her- or the monster, it's hard to tell in the chaos.
> Revolution
"Take it down ASAP!" Is she even close enough to be heard?
no subject
He looks at Nanami for a moment-
"Want to finish the job?"
no subject
Nanami calls back, "we'll get it from both sides?"
Her Persona is not the most powerful, even if it looks pretty cool. Better to be overkill than sorry. Nanami gives her spaceship a quick gesture- let's go- and steps forward to watch Galaga quickly overtake her, launching a spray of glowing needles.
> Dream Needle
Looks almost like straight out of an arcade shooter game, eh?
no subject
"I'm on it!"
And he's wrapping things up with a Zionga, actually giving a yell for this one, hand raised as his Persona launches the lightning bolt. Between them, their attacks tear through the lizard - and for now, things are quiet once more.
As far as this Thirteenth not-an-Hour-any-more can be called 'quiet'.
"You did good."
no subject
The sweet, sweet taste of victory. Of course there was more to a game than winning, but winning certainly felt pretty good.....
"Thank you. You were a great help, as well...." A slight smile, a small nod. This player was.... quite alright, by the looks of it.
"..... sorry, I don't think I caught your name....?"
no subject
"Call me Kanji," he replies, nodding back at her. "What 'bout you?" He pauses for a moment, curious - "And how long've ya been doing this?"
no subject
Nanami does skip a beat before she nods in response. She probably skipped more than one metaphorical beat in this conversation, being one with reactions as delayed as hers is.
And besides, that battle was exhaustingly exciting.
".....I'm Nanami Chiaki. It's nice to meet you." Hooray for socializing stock phrases! She feels her quaintly-nicknamed 'server lag' catching up again now that the excitement's died down, reaching up to muffle a yawn.
"Me? Oh..... not for very long...." She shrugs. "But I've been working pretty hard on it, you can say."
no subject
no subject
"...mmm, of course..." She mutters with eyes closed, just as you'd start wondering if she really just dozed off like that before your eyes.
"It's kind of like a game, after all." Nanami continues, a little more pointedly this time as she straightens slightly- long enough for her to rub her eyes a bit. "I'm good at games."
....zzzz.
It's hard to tell if she's asleep or not because she responded, she's still standing up, but she's also kind of starting to snore softly.
no subject
"It's not a game! You could get seriously..."
...Not impressed. He leans over and gives her a sharp tap on the shoulder.
no subject
"Mnh. I'm fine....." Her Persona buzzes gently as it fades into a blue mass and ultimately disappears."....just tell me when we leave.....or did you.... need, some.....zzz....zz...zz.."
no subject
no subject
".....Libra Five- Oh Three." She makes a soft tcsh in response to the shake, opening her eyes with a huff of air. "It seems like a waste to let the extra hour go.... ......"
Nevermind that she would've wasted it anyway by snoozing; that point doesn't seem to register. Nanami adds afterwards, with the impression that bouncing back questions was something you did to socialize- "...where do you live?"
no subject
After all, for all he knows - this could be it. This could be permanent.

((oh btw I don't quite remember if I've asked you how okay you were with spoilers...?))
Spoil away, I'm probably never going to play any DRs. ^^;
