Who: The Steamrolling Servant of Light™, Aziraphale, and thee! Which is to say, open to all!
Where: Aquarius library and Gabriel's candy store in Virgo.
Summary: Pit out and about!
And suddenly, he's a busy little angel.
He spent his weekend looking for clothes that would fit an angel in these cold climates. The pants weren't much of an issue, but the tops... Eventually, he settled for cutting out slots in the back for his wings. Some of the cold would still seep in, sure, but he was fine with that. Besides, he needed nice clothes for something other than the cold. And that's why he spent his Monday in the library, in preparation for his Tuesday.
When Tuesday arrives, Pit can be seen pacing outside of Gabriel's candy shop, waiting for his new boss. He knows Gabriel won't be nearly as awesome as Lady Palutena, but hopefully he'll come close!

Sometimes he could have his hands a little too full, however. Aziraphale is carefully walking, one small step at a time, with a stack of heavy looking books in his arms, not entirely able to see where he was going. Noticing a familiar pair of angel wings, he nearly trips with the stack of books, balancing them precariously as he set them down with a "WHUMP!" on the table Pit was sitting at.
A torrent of shushing comes his way, ironically enough, from adamant students and fellow librarians.
He whispers back to them in a very hushed voice, "Sorry, sorry..."
The elder angel comes over to Pit curiously, waving a small and polite hello. "Sorry if I startled you, that was a few too many books... I was just wondering what it is you're reading." He looks down at Pit's book with a furrowed brow.

"I'm... Nothing in particular!" he says, closing the book. It's a rather large book with tiny lettering.
It appears to be a scientific text on the subject of grass.

"You're reading about grass?? I mean, I'm sure some people may find it a lovely topic, but I don't exactly see you as a... grass person. Would you like help finding a book that may interest you more?"
Searching through the stack he was carrying, there are a few fantasy novels mixed in with the reference textbooks. He sets them down on the table in a line.

And thus Pit facepalms.

It didn't occur to him that there would be anyone around who didn't know how to read...

He lifts a hand to rub the side of his hair while his wings fold in bashfully. Um. Whoops?

"Would you... would you like some help? I could teach you, if you want to learn." He isn't sure what he's doing, he's never taught someone how to read before...
no subject
"Really? You'd do that? I'd appreciate it a lot! See I just got this new job and I don't want my boss thinking I'm stupid or anything..."
no subject
"It'd be my pleasure... I work here at the library six days a week, with Sundays off. Noon until evening. Whenever you have free time, I could teach you. Does your job require that you read?"

He really needs to see someone about that shedding.

Aziraphale is the last person you'd want to ask for wing care, his wings look terrible."Give me ten minutes." With a nod, Aziraphale puts all of the books back together, including Pit's grass book, and carefully carries them off to put them in their proper places. He returns, ten minutes later, with a much thinner book, several sheets of paper, and two pencils. The thin book was a children's book about the alphabet... one he may or may not have had to materialize himself considering this library was Japanese and had books on characters, not roman letters.
Aziraphale places the small book down in front of Pit. "We'll start with the alphabet, then."

...can you get whiplash from the way people treat you based on your age? One moment he's an old man, the next he's a small child...
"That sounds great!"

Aziraphale sits down beside him and opens up the book. "There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. Each one represents a different sound, and letters can be combined to make different sounds, and even full words. The first thing to do is to learn all of these letters, every sound they make, and how to write them."
Obviously the first letter in the picture book is the letter A, and there's a stereotypical apple above it... although this one may or may not have a snake curled around its base. What? Aziraphale could take some liberties for the sake of his own amusement...

"Does that make sense?"

Aziraphale turns the page to the letter B, with the letter C across from it. B had a picture of a book, C had a picture of several candles.

He gets the impression that he'd be better off not saying anything. So he doesn't. Only speak when spoken to!
...that's going to be hard. D:

He seems to notice Pit's discomfort with the difficulty, however, and tries to give him a small, reassuring smile. "It's going to take some time to learn, but with a lot of practice you'll be able to read just fine in no time, alright? I believe there's even a song of some kind to help you memorize the alphabet..." Not that he feels very confident in singing it...

However upon seeing a familiar face outside, she pauses, then approaches Pit. Who could miss the sight of an angel standing outside the shop?
"Do angels like sweets, too?"

"But I work here."

He was a little surprised to see Pit there pacing outside, but he smirked and went to unlock the door.
"See? Told you I should have given you a key."

“What? No dates to keep you occupied? Maybe a pet or something. You should get a pet sometime if you haven’t before, they’re incredibly fun.”

He says as this is dated before that thread where he asked someone out on a date.

"No? Well, then, might want to look a little harder or you'll miss all the good ones."
You're his new favorite troll bait on this subject, Pit.
