Who: The Steamrolling Servant of Light™, Aziraphale, and thee! Which is to say, open to all!
Where: Aquarius library and Gabriel's candy store in Virgo.
Summary: Pit out and about!

And suddenly, he's a busy little angel.

He spent his weekend looking for clothes that would fit an angel in these cold climates. The pants weren't much of an issue, but the tops... Eventually, he settled for cutting out slots in the back for his wings. Some of the cold would still seep in, sure, but he was fine with that. Besides, he needed nice clothes for something other than the cold. And that's why he spent his Monday in the library, in preparation for his Tuesday.

When Tuesday arrives, Pit can be seen pacing outside of Gabriel's candy shop, waiting for his new boss. He knows Gabriel won't be nearly as awesome as Lady Palutena, but hopefully he'll come close!
[ ooc: you are free to bump into Pit in the library and in Virgo! ]

"A candy store? I can't say there would be too much reason for you to worry about reading, though I suppose it would be a nice skill to have. Still, I would let your boss know that you can't read yet, but that you're learning. Do you think they would be alright with that?" After all, it could be a bit disastrous if Pit's boss assumed Pit knew how to read and the young angel couldn't do his job because of that.

"Then I'm sure he'll understand if you explain to him that you're learning." Aziraphale gives Pit a kind smile. "When would you like to get started, Pit?"
dancingonapin: (Purple cityscape.)

"Oh!" He's a bit surprised that Pit would want to start so soon. "I'm actually ahead of schedule today." Likely because Aziraphale's done a good job of improving organization and general efficiency around the library. "If you just allow me to put these books back on their proper shelves, I'd be more than happy to take a break and get you started."

Aziraphale is the last person you'd want to ask for wing care, his wings look terrible.

"Give me ten minutes." With a nod, Aziraphale puts all of the books back together, including Pit's grass book, and carefully carries them off to put them in their proper places. He returns, ten minutes later, with a much thinner book, several sheets of paper, and two pencils. The thin book was a children's book about the alphabet... one he may or may not have had to materialize himself considering this library was Japanese and had books on characters, not roman letters.

Aziraphale places the small book down in front of Pit. "We'll start with the alphabet, then."

Well your level of reading has to start somewhere, right?? In Pit's case, he knows about as much as a preschooler... Aziraphale would likely always view Pit as a small child, at least until he reaches one hundred in human years, because fifty is so incredibly young for an angel.

Aziraphale sits down beside him and opens up the book. "There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. Each one represents a different sound, and letters can be combined to make different sounds, and even full words. The first thing to do is to learn all of these letters, every sound they make, and how to write them."

Obviously the first letter in the picture book is the letter A, and there's a stereotypical apple above it... although this one may or may not have a snake curled around its base. What? Aziraphale could take some liberties for the sake of his own amusement...
dancingonapin: (Wait what?)

Aziraphale blinks in surprise... err, no Pit. That's not how it works. "No, you see, this letter here is called 'A', and the letter 'A' makes a sound like 'ah' or 'aah', and sometimes 'ay'. In this case, the word 'apple' begins with an 'a' because it starts with an 'ah' sound...

"Does that make sense?"
dancingonapin: (Studying intently.)

"Err..." Aziraphale gives a small sigh, but he's not going to lose his patience. Not yet. "There are twenty-six, like I said before. You can combine letters to make new sounds... and some letters are capable of making more than one sound, depending on the circumstances... but let's start be learning the twenty-six letters and their basics first, shall we?"

Aziraphale turns the page to the letter B, with the letter C across from it. B had a picture of a book, C had a picture of several candles.
dancingonapin: (You don't say?)

Learning to read from scratch didn't even sound easy to Aziraphale... he couldn't comprehend it, considering he had been born knowing all the languages of men, even the written language before men had started writing things down.

He seems to notice Pit's discomfort with the difficulty, however, and tries to give him a small, reassuring smile. "It's going to take some time to learn, but with a lot of practice you'll be able to read just fine in no time, alright? I believe there's even a song of some kind to help you memorize the alphabet..." Not that he feels very confident in singing it...
