Summary: Garviel teaches people how to fight with guns, blades, hand to hand, and everything but silly personas pretty much.
Warnings: Manliness, possible combat, a lot of talking.
[Loken waits, a few spare blades and a few longarms and pistols in a fairly careless-looking pile beside him, holding his chainsword two-handed, almost challenging anyone to approach him and learn. He is 8 feet tall, and an imposing figure at the edge of the plains, just before the forest.]

"Learn... to fight, you mean?"

He's still very much on guard, although it's hard to say how much that would actually help him if this man turned out to be violent.

"Yes."

This man is violence bottled up in ceramite, but he doesn't appear to be threatening, for the moment, anyway.

"...Are you offering to teach?"

It's been a while since he picked up a sword, and he's been thinking for a while now that getting some means of defending himself other than his Persona would be a good idea. He casts a glance at the pile of weapons again, his eyes searching for a blade he could comfortably lift.

"Yes."

There are plenty of blades there, from short blades to longer ones. Some of them look used. Or even a bit bloodied.

"Alright. I'll take you up on it."

He goes to investigate the weapons, and if he's at all perturbed by the bloodstains, he doesn't show it. Eventually he selects a lighter blade, shifting into the most basic kendo stance.

Loken steps in, sweeping the chainsword towards the boy, testing his guard.

There's basically no way his strength can compare to Loken's. Keeping this in mind, he takes a leap back to dodge instead.

He does not, however, begin to attack. He's cautious about rushing in when he knows so little about his opponent, particularly when he still needs to adjust to the added weight of the sword. For now, he'll focus on evading attacks until he sees a good opening.

The space marine, for the moment using only human levels of speed, purposefully lets his guard fall for a moment.

He may have slacked off on his training, but he's still pretty fast. The moment he sees that opening, he darts in for a strike at the waist.

Instantly the blade moves up to intercept the strike, nodding to himself.

"Good."

[not_that_sasuke]

It's to be expected that he wouldn't be able to get a hit in, especially when that opening must have been on purpose. But still...

He quickly moves back and gets his guard up again, waiting to see what Loken will do next.

Loken sweeps in, this time with the inhuman speed of an accelerated warrior, testing just how fast the boy can react to a thrust at his chest.

While he definitely reacts, he's much too slow to even begin to dodge. Even though he brings up his blade as a guard, it's far too little and too late.

Garviel stops short of impaling him.

"A good start. Keep on with practicing."

And he takes a defensive stance, waiting for the next assault.

It takes him a moment to regain his composure. It's one thing for people to be faster than him - his own brother had the advantage because of this. But that kind of speed? It was utterly inhuman, and unexpected at that.

As he gets into his stance again, he decides to go on the offensive. He knows now that he really doesn't have a chance, but it can't be denied that this is a good opportunity to actually practice against an opponent for the first time in quite a while instead of simply serve as a punching bag. It's kind of a refreshing change.

He relies strongly on his speed to make a feint for the right leg, although he'll switch the strike to the other at the last second.

Loken nods, pleased at the feint, and has to switch stances at the last second to defend his left leg, grunting with effort as he does so.

Of course that wouldn't work. But he had little faith it would in the first place.

Not missing a beat, he frees his sword and makes a strike at the waist - since, well, there's basically no way he can even try to aim for the Loken's head.

Loken meets that with a hard parry, trying to smash the blade out of the boy's hand.

It works. With a wince, Sasuke is not only disarmed, but so completely caught off guard that he doesn't even move to a more defensively sound position.

"Pick it up." He gestures to the weapon.

"Begin again."

[not_that_sasuke]

With a nod, he idly shakes out his hand before retrieving his weapon. It had been jarring to have it knocked out of his hand, but it's something he'll have to get used to - there's no telling when he might encounter a similar situation, and he'll have to react faster the next time.

Once again he takes up the basic kendo stance before aiming a strike at Loken's wrist.

Loken slips back, pulling out of range of the wrist-strike.

"What will you do if disarmed?"

[not_that_sasuke]

He pauses for a moment before switching the sword to one hand and drawing a previously concealed knife.

"It's better if I could escape, but if it came down to it..."

[greyerrant]

"You'd fight with another weapon. Bringing a backup is practical." He nods his head, "Good."

[not_that_sasuke]

With a nod, he returns the knife to its hiding place. "...It's not very useful for all out combat, but it's better than nothing in a pinch."
