Summary: Garviel teaches people how to fight with guns, blades, hand to hand, and everything but silly personas pretty much.
Warnings: Manliness, possible combat, a lot of talking.
[Loken waits, a few spare blades and a few longarms and pistols in a fairly careless-looking pile beside him, holding his chainsword two-handed, almost challenging anyone to approach him and learn. He is 8 feet tall, and an imposing figure at the edge of the plains, just before the forest.]

Perfectly capable isn't good enough, not for an Astartes. He rumbles, pointing towards the pile of blades and guns. "Pick up what you wish to train with, and we'll begin."

Shura approaches the pile, thinking. Blade or gun? Gun are weapons she is not sure even Masakados could defend her against; on the other hand, there were no demons nor angels with guns in her world, and her chances of finding one were pretty much zero. On the other hand, a blade might be easier to find and something she might have the opportunity to use, even if mastering it would take much longer and she could potentially have a demon cover the weapon wielding for her, like Dante.

After much hesitation, she finally picks up a blade carefully.

"Defend yourself."

He says, moving in at speeds within human capacities for the moment, testing her defenses with a thrust from his combat blade, a short sword or long dagger in his hands, a broadsword in anyone else's.

[demifemme]

"Whoa!" Maybe she should have first specified she had never held a weapon before! She raises her sword and attempts to block the marine's attack, but it's clear she has no real idea what she's doing.

[greyerrant]

He stops short, nodding.

"You moved to defend instead of quailing in fear. Good. Now, I'll show you the proper way to hold it."

He crosses to her, adjusting her grip with delicate touches of his gauntleted hands, shifting her fingers around without asking any kind of permission. Up close, he is truly massive, some 8 feet tall, and half a ton of flesh, steel, and ceramite.

"You're the kind of guy who teaches a man to swim by pushing him into the deep end of the pool, aren't you." Still, she lets him adjust her fingers without protesting, watching how he shifts her grip on the hilt to a much more secure and strong one. She has not expected this massive and gruff man to handle her hands so carefully, but she was glad for it.

"Thank you."

"Yes."

He steps away without acknowledging her thanks openly, just taking up a ready stance with his combat blade, and says.

"Now, try to run me through with that. Or slash me. I want to see how you think you do these two basic strikes."

[demifemme]

Shura nods and gets ready, moving her right foot back a bit. Then, she holds her sword higher before bringing it down diagonally to attempt to slash Garviel.

He parries the swing, and pauses again, drawing back. He will shift slightly, and say.

"You are off-balance. If you lean into it as you did, you will leave yourself open for a riposte."

[demifemme]

Hm. Clearly, she does not have the reach of a Dante to pull this one off like that. "Should I step forward when I attack, then?"

He nods, and waits for her to do it again.

[demifemme]

This time, when she slashes at him, she takes a step forward toward him at the same time. "Ha!"

[greyerrant]

He addresses the slash again, parrying it.

"Again."

[demifemme]

Shura returns to her previous stance, then strikes at Garviel again using the same technique of stepping forward as she swings.

"Again."

Same result, obviously trying to make her master the basics.

[demifemme]

Shura swings the sword as instructed, again and again, as many time as Garviel orders her to. As always, she's going to see even this mere exercise to the end.

[greyerrant]

"Enough." He growls, once she gets tired.

[demifemme]

Shura rests the tip of the sword against the ground as she took a pause. "Thanks." Well, now she'd know how to grab Dante's sword and whack his ass.

"We'll be working on that for a while. Thrusts will be next."
