hush

Who: Open to anyone!
Where: Everywhere at first, but leading up to the Virgo District.
Summary: There's an odd feeling in the air, in the wake of the Scorpio incident...
Warnings: Secondary, small plot event
The city was in a sort of rebuilding lull after the Scorpio incident. People swept debris off their porches as Wand operatives did their best to calm the demon population- the post-battle issues would probably have lasted quite a long time, if not for an odd intervention.

The twenty-seventh of October was an oddly quiet night in Hinoto-Ri. The silence seemed to scrub the streets clean, even if only metaphorically. A soft, humid rain drizzled down over the city like a blanket, lulling those who were still awake and patrolling. Yet, there were not nearly as many demons as usual; something unheard of for the town, and too suspicious to leave be, especially in the wake of Skorpios.

At about eleven, the rain picked up, more of a downpour than anyone could have expected- and there was a sound. No, more than that- it was music.

At first, the tune was simply an irritation, but as the minutes ticked on, it wormed its way much deeper. Like a fading echo, it pushed through the rain from parts unknown, calling out with it's last, faint breath. Yet never did it cease. The song begged to whatever persona users would heed it, beckoning them softly to follow it...whatever 'it' was.

Anyone who heard the melody would find themselves lured to the same place- a small row of shops in the Virgo district. The rain was harsh, yet could barely whisper over the song's intensity by then...

[ OOC: The half of this log set on the 27th is just a mingle, to ponder over what could be happening- feel free to make ridiculous theories, or what have you! The half set on the 28th will go up tomorrow, and will kick off the event proper. ]

"Well, things do get worse in a short period of time, I've found."

That was totally not a jab at how he found out that his niece is involved in some kind of trouble that's way beyond her, nope. Regardless, he welcomed the sanctuary the umbrella provided him, even if it was a liiiittle bit too late for him to not be wet.

The way she kind of winced there probably told him she got the jab. It wasn't like she didn't want to tell him the whole truth, just that she couldn't lest he need to be killed for knowing too much. She'd seen how Servants fought and while she knew her uncle was an amazing swordsman, she didn't want him to be involved. Not in this.

And it killed her because they both knew he knew she was involved in something and that she was, indeed, way over her head. She just couldn't say anything.

"I've been noticing that as well," she said, hoping he'd take it as her referring to the recent incident with Eikichi where she'd been so blinded by fear she'd been ineffective as a warrior and had been captured by him. Fortunately it turned out him tying her to a chair in his apartment with a bunch of guard scorpions while he searched for more damsels in distress meant she had been one of the safest people in the city.

He nodded at her words, merely filing those into his mind as he took note of how the strange music kept playing... and... how it sounded eerily familiar in tune to something he used to listen to during his travels...

"..."

The name of the instrument eluded him, but regardless, the familiarity just made the song sound more eerie to him if it was even possible. Though...

"...This sounds familiar, the music, that is."

The most unsettling part for Arturia was how it seemed familiar to her as well, but she couldn't exactly place where she'd heard it before or even when. It surprised her when her Uncle said he'd heard it before, however. Maybe she'd been with him at the time when she'd been ill as a child?

"Oh? Do you recall from where?"

The response came automatically, after all, even as he really hated lying to her, the fact that he had to adapt to the modern world meant that an altered background was necessary for him to blend in.

Said sentence being part of it.

"...I seem to recall somewhere in Britain, when my father was visiting an old castle, I just happened to tag along around that time."

The sad part was she knew he told her lies, just not how often or precisely about what. The even sadder part was the fact she understood the necessity given they needed to keep their heads down and both knew she really hated keeping secrets. Still, he'd once promised her he would tell her one day and he'd yet to break a promise to her. Because of that she eagerly anticipated the day he could finally tell her the truth.

"Was it a pleasant trip, at least?"

"It was."

There was a nod from him as a distant smile graced his face; a common occurrence when he's talking about his past to the girl, really. In either case he's going to sneeze. It's a small one, but enough to notify him that he probably shouldn't stay out here for a longer period.

"...Let us head back home, shall we?"

She was about to ask for details when he brought up going home. They'd been here for a while and nothing beyond the music had yet to happen. If anything dangerous were to happen due to the music, she was certain there would be messages over the Network in an instant.

"It is pretty late. We really should." Almost midnight, actually. And her uncle was likely in need of getting into something warm and dry by now.
