Who: Meetra and OPEN
Where: Pisces Floor 9 Laundromat
Summary: Laundry
Warnings: Mundanity
As much as she was concerned with unraveling the mysteries of this city, today was Saturday, and Meetra had learned that Saturday was the day for doing mundane chores you normally don't think about when working a steady job or saving the galaxy.
Particularly, it was a day for buying yourself more than one set of clothes, like after she first got here, or washing them, like right now. In particular, Meetra was out of her usual robe and wearing a black t-shirt and gray sweatpants that would probably be disconcerting to anyone she knew at home, or anyone who had wardrobe expectations of Jedi. On the other hand, they were comfortable enough to wear under her robe that it's not like anyone would normally notice. So attired, she was meditating on the circular motion of the coin-operated washing machine. And by meditating we mean staring at it.
"Something about this seems inefficient, but I can't put my finger on it..."

"Something about this seems inefficient, but I can't put my finger on it..."

"Meetra, if you could rewind time, if you could undo two thousand years worth of destruction at the cost of your own life and the lives of all the people you know, would you?"

"If I had that opportunity, I could save billions of lives and stop untold suffering," she said, considering the idea carefully. "Reason and compassion both dictate that I'd take the chance in a heartbeat."
She continued, though. "Everything that exists now would be so different as to be unrecognizable. Even if my friends and 'I' still existed, we'd be completely different people. The Galaxy would be a completely different place..."
There is a huge shadow of doubt on her mind, though. "On the other hand, if the world is completely different, have I 'saved' it, or merely traded it for a different one with its own other problems? If I prevented any of the wars that have happened in the last few millennia of my galaxy, would they just be replaced by something worse? On the other hand, is that hesitation just me making an excuse to justify my sense of self-preservation?" she asked, recognizing she was going down a rhetorical rabbit hole now.
"The only answer I can give is that I'd have to think about it," she said. "I've spent so much time learning to come to terms with the past I'm tempted to say no, but really...I don't know."

"No, actually... that was answer enough," she said softly. "There is no easy answer; it's not something you can just decide and be okay with it. That... makes me feel better."

She bounced over, plopping down next to Meetra.

"She was...well, one of those people who used being 'above good and evil' as an excuse to be evil," she continued, "but she did still teach me a great deal, both directly and by fighting against me, in the end. I don't and will never agree with everything she taught, but among all the manipulation and murder there was some undeniable truth."
She stopped, and thought about it for a second. "My life is pretty messed up, too."

She let out a breath at that, a distant look coming to her face. She couldn't help but think of Lucas and Chrystal... and yeah, even Gabriel; she was worried about all of them, and she missed them, and she couldn't help but wonder what they were doing with her gone. Had Gabriel freaked out yet? Had Lucas? She could just picture the two of them going at it, fighting over why she disappeared and blaming each other for it...

Meetra puts a friendly hand on Rune's shoulder. "Think, and consider, but don't worry, and don't get absorbed in regret. That's my unsolicited old lady advice for today."

"Oh, or did you mean I don't look like I'm in my 30's?" She considered that significantly less likely.
