A Day in the Life of a Part Time Job Slave
Who: Yu Narukami, and everyone and anyone and all the things.
Where: Virgo, Aquarius, and Taurus Districts; any given week.
Summary: Yu's still working his three jobs to help save up for an apartment. And now it's almost Christmas time... you can pretty much guess how this goes.
Warnings: Crossdressing antics.
[Christmas time again... never mind it had only been a few months ago for Yu. He didn't want to think much about what happened before last Christmas, so... well...]
[MONDAY-WEDNESDAY; MAYS GROCERY STORE CLERK,5:00 3:00-11:00PM]
[Being the superstore of Hinoto-Ri, of course Mays is swamped on a regular basis. Yu is totally and completely not shocked when they start calling him in to work extra hours. He was thinking about going back to school, but that's obviously out this month... at least the extra money will help with his apartment funds.]
[Yu can be found, quite literally, all over the store. Seeing as it's busy, he's willing to go where ever they need him: grocery, check out, deli area... everywhere.]
[THURSDAY-FRIDAY; AQUARIUS DISTRICT LIBRARY, 5:00-9:00PM]
[He would say that Thursday and Friday are his break days, but guess where some shoppers drop their kids off while they shop? Hinoto-Ri really needs a Chuck E. Cheese or something...]
[When Yu isn't child wrangling, he'll be around helping with anyone that wants to study or needs some kind of tutoring. He would also bring Nanako with him while he works, if she wants to come.]
[SATURDAY; NYX'S NIGHTCLUB, 10:00PM-4:00AM]
[...he hates the fact that he's starting to love this job.]
[No, seriously, after he got over the overwhelming shame, he found himself having a lot of fun at work. Sure, it sucked when demons got a little too grabby, but he was strong enough to remind them that touching was against the rules.]
[Since it's going to be cold on the 8th, Yu's going to work wearing his wig. Hey, the extra hair helped to keep his ears warm.]

"I'll have to go say hi to him, too!"
"It's kinda packed in here. Are you doing alright?" she asked, ready to move on if he, rightly, shooed her off so he could work.

At this point, he'll be happy with just a small tree and some sushi for Christmas dinner.

"Hey, I just had an idea. Do you think everyone would want to do a Christmas Day party like we did last year?" she asked. "Since you're working so hard, I wouldn't ask you to host again, of course..."

He trailed off, thinking a moment. There was someone else he wanted to invite too, but...
"Rise, can you come back in a few minutes? There's something I want to talk to you about."

He managed to look amused, before going back to his duties. He was still in the vicinity once she came back, sitting down for his break and looking rather tired from all the hard work he had been doing lately.
no subject
"I'm back!" she said. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
no subject
"Do you know about the Moel Station's attendant?"
no subject
no subject
"Izanami is here, in this city."
no subject
She stopped to think for a second.
"Okay, yeah, dead god, I don't think I can say it's impossible," she admitted. "What do you mean 'came from before that moment,' though?"
no subject
If the change of his tone was any indication, it was obvious Yu knew there was a difficult conversation coming.
no subject
"But if she...showed you...oh."
That had been...difficult enough to watch as it was happening to her friends. Especially at the end. To know it was going to happen to yourself in the future? She had no words for that.
"That...must have been rough, Senpai."
Lame. Also potentially misleading, crap.
"But, um, don't let her get to you! Everything turned out okay! You were really incredibly cool, in fact!" she hurriedly reassured him.
no subject
Izanami's determination... her hope, but not for what was expected.
"...she's alone, Rise, and we're the only ones that can attempt to understand why she did what she did," he continued softly. "That's why... I want to invite her to the Christmas party too."
no subject
That was bad enough to live through...to watch once.
no subject
...he couldn't get her own pain out of his head.
"I'm not saying to trust her, but... I think we should reach out to her," he replied. "She doesn't mean us any harm here because we've already defeated her; she already has her answer. Trying to understand why she did what she did is the least we can do in exchange."
no subject
Reaching out, understanding, accepting...that was what they had been doing, right? Seeing the worst of a person and pulling them back out into the real world. More than 'Investigation', that was what the Investigation Team had been about. Even the other 'culprits'...
On the other hand, she thought, looking down at her groceries to give herself time to mull it over, it hadn't been a Shadow they'd been fighting. That had been all of the Great Goddess Izanami, and it was all pretty awful. Or...
"You're way too nice of a guy," she concluded, "but I guess you're right. If nothing else, we can find out more about how to avoid something like that in the future, right?"
That was probably going to be important, after all.
no subject
"Thank you, Rise."
no subject
"...I hope she doesn't, though," she added. After all, Yu seemed to be pretty fond of her for some reason. "Anyway, I should get going. Call me and help me plan when you get the chance, okay?"
no subject
He felt pretty confident about that, and he could feel that Izanagi felt the same, even if he wasn't ready to admit that yet.
"I will... and let me tell Yukiko about Izanami. We're both from before that time; it might be better."
no subject
"Anyway, make sure you do that soon. That'd be a pretty terrible surprise."
