Summary: it's Nik's birthday but he's treating the rest of you.

[This afternoon a blanket message would have went out from Nik to the network. It would have included the address of a typical restaurant in Virgo district - not too cheap but not pricey - inviting everyone out for drinks. He picked a restaurant over a bar so the younger crowd could come and mix as well (and get soda, okay thanks). And the best part - the tab is on him. Not that he's got a ton of money yet, but that's okay just this one time. He hope.

What's the occasion? Nik's turned 29 today. He wouldn't say this via the text, just that an excuse to get out and meet more folks, and maybe folks can talk a bit about this Grand Prix thing. But truth is, he really just doesn't want to sit alone in his apartment and doesn't know a lot of people yet. So it's time to invite everyone at once.

[If you've come and you don't know who it is you're looking for, the restaurant hosts will point out the nondescript guy sitting at the bar, sipping a scotch. Anyone can feel free to approach him. If you happened to meet him at the New Year's party, you might find out he's not exactly as chatty and outgoing as he was that night (man what was even IN that wine), but will still greet you with a small smile and a nod.]

[Hey what a coincidence! It just also happened to be Miki's birthday, so seeing that message left her confused. Part of her wondered if this was some sort of trap, but what little she was able to pull of the info from the address seemed to be a normal place.

...still she didn't want to risk this being maybe a secret mission of some sort and then being the last one then. So she ends up making the clearly wise decision up arriving rather early to see why she'd been called her first.

So...it was a restaurant?

[SURPRISE. Just a restaurant. The lone man sitting at the bar will raise his glass as a toast when he sees someone's entered.]

[Nik raises his glass to her as a hello.] Hello, Nano. Thanks for coming.

[He chuckles quietly at that.] The promise was for drinks. That I can handle.

[Free drinks? Well, he wasn't really into alcohol at all, but an invitation like this wasn't one to turn down so quickly. Hey, maybe he could learn something there.]

[So, he's here, being his usually timid wallflower self as usual as he approaches the man slowly, raising his voice slightly to get his attention.]

[Nik turns around, a small smile on his face.] Yes, that was me. And yes, I mean it. Order whatever you'd like from the bar.

[That was rather nice of him, really, which makes Sam think thee must be something more to this. He sits down obediently nearby, ordering a sparkling water before tuning to the man beside him.]

What's the occasion? You're not giving everyone drinks for nothing, you know...
