[CLOSED] Celebration Time, COME ON!
Who: Yamato Hotsuin and Shura
demifemme
Where: Taurus Ward
When: Night on the day of Shura's Tournament Match
Summary: Celebratory night out on one of Yamato's rare days off
Warnings: Taurus ward so...yes.
The sky was completely dark at this time in the early evening, and the temperature was dropping with each passing minute. Yamato was not in his usual long coat, but instead in a warm looking winter coat with a thick, pale coloured scarf topping the ensemble. His JP's uniform was mostly for show, not for warmth, and he didn't do too well in the cold.
He was standing on the edge of the Taurus Ward, looking as severe as usual. He was ten minutes early for his and Shura's meeting time, waiting beneath a tall looking street lamp. He didn't look impatient, and actually seemed to be lost in thought, gazing up at the dark sky with his arms crossed over his chest.
Hm, it was even starting to snow a little...

Shura would be influenced by the alcohol, so there would be no point getting jealous over such a thing- not that Ideo of course had any reason to get jealous. Yamato was not unfaithful- not that there was anything to be faithful over.
Just friends.
Yes.

Yamato still looked confused, but he let the subject drop, taking a little sip of his own drink. Although he suddenly paused and lowered his drink, slowly turning the glass between his hands.
"Actually, there is something I need to ask you."

"...you are probably more knowledgeable than I in these matters, so let me put forth a hypothetical question. If someone rejects, ah, affections you have for them, and even confesses that they are somewhat nervous about you, due to something an alternative version of yourself had done in their world, but then they immediately tried to establish a friendship with you after admitting their wariness - what is the proper thing to do in that scenario. Hypothetically?"
Oh yes, that thing with Kaito. Although he was no longer avoiding his ex-crush (oh, still current crush, those feelings just don't go away), and it had been apparently resolved during the New Years... he still didn't remember the actual resolution, or what was said or done, and the uncertainty of his position did make him wonder how on earth he was to handle that whole...thing.

"Hypothetically. I. Well. It'd be a good thing that someone would want to stay friends, I think? Would you want to stay friends? Hypothetically."

"Well, yes," Yamato said, starting to feel a bit silly at proposing this as a hypothetical scenario when it was obvious to both of them that it was actually happening. It felt easier asking it in a hypothetical way though, rather than outright advice.
"It is puzzling because I am uncertain on what is and isn't appropriate. If someone is wary of you, isn't it best to maintain distance? Or should you try to prove your innocence? It is something only time would heal, I fear, but I feel like my actions would be closely scrutinised, and that I would have little room for forgiveness if I do something morally wrong."
Not that Yamato cared about being morally right but, urgh. He took a drink to try and clear his head. It didn't work.
"But even then if wariness is gone, would that mean that there is a chance of being accepted if that was the only reason or...should I just expect that venue close to me permanently? Ah, hypothetically..."
no subject
"Okay. I don't have all the answers, but, I think that, hypothetically, if the person was not interested, you shouldn't press the issue because that would make you a creep. No one wants that.
"I think..." Shura looked lost in time for a moment. "I think that... if they wanna be friends, be a friend. You can't justify yourself for someone in another world. They could be very different from you. The point of different worlds is that shit goes down differently. That's my opinion on the Amala Universe anyway.
"So... hypothetically, if they want to be friends, and you want to be friends, be friends. They're giving you a chance to show you're... not an asshole. So don't be an asshole. And if it hurts you to be with them, you can tell them, you know. Friendship should make both people happy."
With all that said, Shura took a big gulp of her drink.

Yamato was well aware that he more than qualified for that label. He didn't care, since he had to be harsh and merciless as Chief of JP's. He didn't like sending people to their deaths, but if it was necessary he didn't lose sleep over it. They had been too weak to stay alive, and if they died fulfilling their duty, there was no less admirable death.
However, that didn't mean he wanted to be an asshole to Kaito. Well, not to the extent where it would damage their already delicate relationship even more. As much as he was confused over him, he - well, he felt that avoiding him at being rejected would be the appropriate thing to do, but apparently Kaito didn't want that so-
Urrrrrgh. Relationships were hard.
"...I see," he murmured quietly, taking a contemplative sip of his drink. "I do not want to chase him away, but neither do I feel it is appropriate to... pretend as if there isn't anything there either. Hypothetically," he added belatedly. "I... don't know how I feel about it."
He suddenly laughed, and rubbed at his forehead. "My apologies, this isn't a very celebratory topic..."
