The Search for the Newcomers, Feburary 2013 Edition.
New Arrivals
☯
Who: Open to Everyone, but only Newly Accepted Characters can start threads.
Where: All around the city! They appear where you want them to appear.
Summary: Newcomers arrive and by now the Government is more ready and sends everyone out to go people hunting.
Warnings: ARRIVALS. Also assume the first thread is the ones who tell you about the city, and the other tags for the character can be talking with others in the city and learning more about it.
[FOR THOSE IN THE CITY:]
There was still so much cleanup to do. What a perfect time for your HORUS detection systems to start warning you that another group of people were forthcoming.
The device allowed everyone to spot abnormalities; and while it was being re-tuned to work with the appearing buildings, they could hone in on newcomers at a much faster pace. The leftover energy from the travel (commonly called Magatama Residue) gave them a few minutes to find them before it would flicker out.
Combined with the fact they could appear in most parts of the city, it made finding the newcomers was both easy yet frustratingly difficult.
As the blips appear on your own radar function, it was also nice enough to calculate for you the best transport and destination routes to take to get there. Speed was of the essence, after all.
[FOR THOSE WHO JUST ARRIVED:]
You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said.
There is one word that stays with you, however.
Persona.
So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...
[OOC: As stated above, only new characters can start a thread, but feel free to jump in any of them. characters arrive with their clothing and whatever items they had on them the moment they were taken; the remaining items will be later found in their apartments.]

"I-I'm not fooling around!" He took a slight step back with her anger flaring, but it didn't look like he was going to run away or anything. And even in spite of the clear distress, he was frowning. "Why would I joke about something like this? I'm not that heartless..."
no subject
"...So you don't know my name."
It's something she was far too used to. But it's odd when Miyako openly revealed herself on that evening to everyone.
no subject
He was reluctant to admit it, since-- well, maybe it was just because she was angry at him, but the news didn't seem to make anything better, either. Still, he carefully started to lower his arms with an apologetic look.
"I mean-- I didn't forget or anything, I swear...! I just...honestly don't remember meeting you before. S-Sorry; I really am."
no subject
"Tch." Almost. It was very tempting to lash out, but the rational side of her want her to calm down and talk. "My name is Miyako Hotsuin. You may not remember, but I do remember you very well, Shijima."
no subject
"I figured..." Her being calm and rational at least got him to lower his arms again, but damn if he didn't still feel bad and nervous.
"--Wait, 'well'? What happened?"
Or maybe the better question would be, 'why the hell don't I remember you??'
no subject
If the situation was anything else, she would accept it with a little more grace. But no, they're sided with Alcor out of all people. Losing to them was simply unacceptable as a supporter of meritocracy.
no subject
"I guess the same thing might've happened in our universe? We fought against Yamato, but you weren't there...and we had to fight him and Ronaldo so we could put Saiduq on the throne."
They also had to, y'know, kick Daichi's ass, but he's a lot better at accepting defeat than a Hotsuin was.
no subject
"That's where our memories differ. Yamato and I fought against all of you, especially Alcor." The bitterness over their defeat, and what happened afterwards, seeped into her voice again.
But then again, most people was better at accepting defeat than a Hotsuin.
no subject
"Oh, uh... well!"
Oh who was he kidding, the Yamato from his universe had completely flipped his lid when they were allied with Saiduq, this was just gonna be somehow even worse.
He cleared his through at an attempt to cover up his complete sense of I-Don't-Know-How-To-Handle-This. "Uh...you're OK though, aren't you? I mean, I know Yamato flipped out on us... Augh, you're probably not too happy about that either, are you? Who am I kidding..."
no subject
"I'm still alive, so I am 'fine'." Thank you for reminding her of her brother's another dip into insanity. As for how she feels about it, emotionally and mentally?
Well.
What do you think?
no subject
Daichi let out a sigh, both one of exasperation and defeat, and shifted a step away from Miyako because she clearly was not happy to see him right now.
"Look. You probably hate me right now and-- probably all of us for going with Saiduq, right? You can hate me, it's fine... But just being alive doesn't mean you're OK, right? No matter what happened back at home, we're all here now, and we're all kind of stuck with each other in this city. I know I probably can't help right now, but... Well, we're all kind of friends, aren't we? At least, I'd like it to be that way. Yamato's already sort of come around, so-- Just, let me know, OK? I don't wanna harbor a grudge, or anything-- a-and, I don't want you to either, so."
Because if there was one thing he'd learned, it was that the Hotsuins...were not in a very good place in their lives.
no subject
Similiar to her brother, Miyako believed deeply in their ideal. That if they realised it, she will no longer be bound by the clan's traditions and duty. That the world will become something worth living in.
Hate? Hating people would mean they're worth something. Kuriki didn't deserve her attention, even if his ideal of egalitarianism was laughable. If anything, she hate herself for losing more.
But another thing Daichi said caught her attention.
"...Friends?"
Miyako honestly look surprised by that. Other than her brother, the closest thing she had to a friend was Alcor. And that didn't went by very well.
"Do as you wish, just don't get in my way." That's the closest she could make herself to say on that matter. "I lost the battle. Being here or back in our world would make no difference to me."
no subject
"Come on, you don't go through the end of the world with someone and just leave it at that."
After dealing with Yamato for so long, he expected the words that came after though. Well, sort of. He certainly didn't expect her to go Hakuna Matata on him.
"I won't get in your way-- and if you want me to just leave you alone, that's cool too! But I'm still offering to help you, OK?"
no subject
She's more, well, bemused than anything. He even wanted to be her friend, when there's not a lot of things connecting them both. Beside coming from similiar worlds and their differing memories.
At very least, Miyako's no longer looking cold or angry at Daichi. It's progress?
"A simpleton as always." A quiet, long pause. "I will keep your offer in mind, Shijima."
...It's not outright rejection.
no subject
"Well... the way I see it, there's another version of me that did meet and remembered you, right? And if I know myself, he probably thought of you as at least some kind of comrade. So don't really see why not!"
And after the sort-of-an-explanation, he grins. "Besides, I don't think it really matters. It still feels like I hardly know Yamato, and we've technically only known each other for a week, tops-- so I figure we'd all still have to get to know each other better anyway, right?"
no subject
"I do wonder if you know what you're getting yourself involved in, Shijima."
She knew very well she's not social or likeable. And to 'get to know each other'...get to know each other how?
no subject
"Hm, not really." That was actually a total lie because he was well aware that Hotsuins were damn near impossible. "But it's better than fighting Polaris."
no subject
Since it's easier to be distracted by a routine instead of brooding over, well, everything.
"Which you would know quite well." You know, because the twins lost and therefore no longer have the right to meet Polaris. No big deal.
no subject
O h maybe that wasn't exactly the best analogy to make, all things considered. Whoops.
His expression deflated rather quickly back to his usual borderline-panic stricken nonsense. "Uh, well, yeah I guess...It sure wasn't fun, honestly, eheheh... I'm not even sure how we pulled it off, in the end."
no subject
"...Your group won the battle against us." Well, for Daichi, that battle didn't have her in it. It didn't make it any less difficult. "I would be disappointed if you didn't overcome Polaris."
Was that...a compliment...
no subject
"Hah, of course we did!" He said cheerfully, in almost a direct contrast with the tone he had earlier. He had no idea if it was a compliment or not, but he'll take it anyway!
"Yamato was no pushover, but trust me, we didn't disappoint." ... "Uhhhh, that's not really that important right now anyway though, is it? Eheh..."
no subject
They're no longer in their home world, so why bother worrying about their world's state? Why bother when she failed?
What will she do now?
She fell silent at her bitter thoughts.
no subject
"Y-Yeah... I mean, the past is in the past, right? No need to worry about it anymore...!"
no subject
"...There's no need, hm? That just leave the future."
no subject
Nice save, even if it hadn't been from him! Nevertheless, he regained his confidence (?) and crossed his arms with a smile.
"We can't change what happened anyway, so it's better to plan for the future and all that. Right?"
