[OPEN] Dog Wrestling
Who: Yamato and YOU
Where: Capricorn Ward - early evening
Format: Begins in prose, but I'll follow
Summary:Playing Training with Cerberus by fighting it with one's bare hands. Who's up for Demon Tangoing?
Warnings: Sharp claws and sharp teeth.
It had been a very long time since Yamato had last done this - probably not since he was in his earlier teens. Life had been too busy, his duties had taken precedence, and the Chief of JP's couldn't really risk being seen playing with his demonic familiar, after all. One had to maintain a certain image, even for the lower subordinates.
Now, however, he had no need to maintain image or even care about it. Yamato had reached rock bottom as far as his 'reputation' was concerned, and there was a bizarre sort of liberating feeling about it. He didn't have to care anymore, and after reuniting with his old time demonic familiar, Cerberus... well, if Yamato wanted to let off steam and relax by partaking in old plays, then he will!
Although, he made sure to do it in a somewhat deserted place - like the park in Hinoto-Ri. The sun was beginning to dip in the horizon, turning the sky into an indigo colour, and Yamato thought he was just out of sight from the main path. Hopefully anyway. His coat and phone was neatly set to the side, Cerberus - who nearly up to his shoulder in height - stretched and-
Well, they played. Playfighting was the best way to learn how to strengthen one's body through use of spiritual energy. The human body was weak, but it could be reinforced if one knew how to use their spiritual power in that way. Resist Physical - it was a natural ability of Yamato's by now. So there was no issue in wrestling his large, demonic familiar to the ground and initiating a round of playfighting. He trusted Cerberus not to use its claws or fangs too much.
Of course, if you're just walking through the park, as an average passerby, it would look like a man was in the middle of fighting for his life with a giant beast...

There was a brief pause where Yamato and Cerberus turned to look at the man running towards them, and it took Yamato a second longer than usual to realise - oh dear, this would look a bit suspect.
"Ah, wa-" Yamato tried, but was promptly drowned out by Cerberus's warning growl.
Oh this was going to end horribly.

... Sorry, this next part is hard to describe. HAVE A VIDEO!
So yeah basically in a swirl of bright lights and a completely inexplicable theme tune this dude is now the MASKED HERO OF YOUR EMBARRASSING CHILDHOOD DREAMS and is currently tackling the hell out of your creature sidekick. He is definitely strong enough to rip Cerberus off of Yamato, but probably didn't make much distance; he'll be back on a foot and a knee, his claws extended and ready to hit it again.
THAT VID I'M CRYING
However, he was still a well trained soldier, and he kicked right back into action when he realised that, well shit, he should probably put a stop to this before Cerberus ate the well meaning attacker. Cerberus, who was currently lunging back onto its feet and bellowing out an angry roar.
"Wait!" he barked, quickly climbing to his feet and striding over to the battling duo.
I STILL CAN'T GET OVER UR FUCKIN ICON GDI
Wait!
Eiji may not be a military man, but he does know precisely what military authority sounds like. Still... it's a tiny bit late to slow his roll. Fortunately, his Hawk's eyes help him readjust his attack to where he's just awkwardly hooking his arm around Cerberus' neck in a strange half-nelson, the resulting stop making him yelp and landing him flat on his back.
Uh... wow! Awkward, uncomfortable, in a really bad position if this fracas is to go on despite the guy's command. Under the mask, Eiji squints his eyes shut. If this dog doesn't take command from this guy, this next hit will hurt.
IT'S THE BEST ICON TBH
"ʂʡʨȿϧϗ, ϞϠ!" Yamato growled when his demonic familiar didn't immediately move away. The language was clearly not made for human vocal chords, and sounded like Yamato was snarling past a throatful of gravel, but it apparently meant something to Cerberus. The demon jolted and quickly slinked away from the masked man, its belly dragging on the grass as it crawled its way back to Yamato.
He didn't spare Cerberus a look as he made his way over to the fallen man, staring down at him uncertainly. He was still trying to figure out what the hell had happened in the past two minutes, so excuse the weird looks.
"...are you alright?"
very classic ouo
He aims his gaze at the young man - a kid? This stranger is definitely younger than him - and tilts his head. "I kind of get the feeling that I should be asking you that... This all got pretty backwards, didn't it?"
no subject
He and Cerberus got really into it, after all. He even had claw marks from where his demonic familiar didn't mind its claws enough. However, Yamato was used to such a thing, and aside from mild stinging, didn't really see fit to complain about them.
Besides, there was a bigger concern. "What was that... light, thing?"
no subject
"Ah, that? That's, uh... I suppose you could say it's how I use my powers? I don't know what the song's for though. It's kind of silly, huh?"

Meanwhile, Cerberus was still gazing intently at Eiji, and in fact, with its belly still low to the ground, was edging over to him. Not in a hostile manner, but more curious, its nostrils flaring as it sniffed.

His train of thought derails again as he watches the young man walk off and start steadily ignoring him, his eyes catching onto the injuries on his side. That doesn't look particularly good at all! He opens his mouth to mention that, but the shuffling in the grass alerts him to a more pressing approach. He turns his head to regard the dog creature, letting it approach with... ok, maybe a little trepidation. "Uh... hello!" He tries for a smile. "Good boy?"
no subject
"Cerberus," Yamato said warningly, turning around. The wound at his side was suddenly gone, although his shirt was still ripped and bloodied. "Sit."
The beast obeyed immediately, plonking its heavy flanks onto the grass. Its gaze on Eiji didn't waver in the slightest though. It almost seemed like the beast was trying to stare right into Eiji's brain.

Let's... address that later though. This dog's tunnel vision is starting to worry him. A lot.
"So, um... Is this a Persona? Or a demon? Or... a friend of yours?"
no subject
"...he is a demon. Cerberus, to be exact. He's my familiar from childhood," he explained. Cerberus let out an agreeable chuff, and then started to lean towards Eiji. Yamato's gaze flicked from Eiji to the beast, and he growled. Cerberus pulled away instantly.
"Seems he's taken a great interest in you, though."

With Cerberus pinned under his master's gaze, Eiji chances getting up slowly, being careful not to make eye-contact with him. No point in getting in a dominance war. He does look at this young stranger's face and nod. "Thanks for interfering. I shouldn't have run in so hastily."
no subject
"So, you're quite skilled in combat," It wasn't a question.
no subject
"Um... well, so are you!" Eiji shifts his focus over to Cerberus, uncomfortable with Yamato's scrutiny. "I suppose that's a common thing here, right? If we're here to fight a war of some kind..."

"Well... I get by! And I use them to help people. As for limits... As long as it's enough to help people, does it matter?"
help i tl;dr'd
Yamato's gaze turned shrewd, and he took a step closer to Eiji, although there was nothing threatening about it. Yamato personally believed that one's main focus should be on what you could contribute to the world. The meaning of one's life was to better themselves, to reach the very limits of their abilities and talents, and fight as high up the food chain as they could, for the advancement of mankind. There wouldn't be corruption if people were like that, as everyone would be judged on merit, as oppose to gender, race, lineage, money, or other trivial, useless crap that didn't mean anything practically. Lowering yourself for others who were weaker and more useless did nothing but waste potential. That had been Yamato's philosophy for his entire life.
But then one of those swanned into his life. One who put others before himself, one who fought for others, one who thought that one's power was to help people, no matter how useless or weak or corrupt they were. Yamato couldn't understand it, even after thinking on it for six months. Why help those who deserve death for their corruption? Why strive towards a world of stagnation, of no advancement? Why push for a society where there is no competition, and those with great power lowered themselves into glorified babysitters?
Why were one of those stronger then him, a man who embodied Meritocracy?
"Why do you want to help people?"
this. is. LOVELY
For a moment, his mouth opens, mouthing wordless answers, his eyes a little wide, deer-in-the-headlights wide and staring into the middle distance. He doesn't seem to react beyond that, and certainly not in the slightly exaggerated, bumblingly helpful way he had been before. His voice comes back in hesitant pieces, incomplete. "I... I do. That's..."
His mouth twists once, visibly, before his face blanks, then resets to something... composed. "Ah... sorry. I don't think I have a good answer for that. Is it important?"
i rarely get to dip my toe into this part of yamato aaaaa so happy
"It is, but it doesn't matter," Yamato sighed, settling his hand on his hip as he looked away with a frown. "I don't understand the concept, that is all."
Well, that was a lie. He understood the concept of duty. Yamato's life was born into servitude to Japan, and he understood that his duty was to protect it, and all of the weak, useless people inside of it. But that hadn't been by choice - hence his ambition to install a Meritocratic society, because then the people would be worthy of his protection, or, in fact, wouldn't need protection at all, and he would be free. To wilfully choose such a life...
ouo same here for eiji!! yay for mutual button pushing??
If... this person is looking for an honest answer, though? Eiji tilts his head. He didn't understand the concept of charity? That wasn't... really the best subject for Eiji to talk about, at all. He's pretty sure his understanding of the topic is still skewed, seeing as how Date never approved of his philosophy, but... If he had a genuine lack of understanding of benevolence, then Eiji didn't want to just leave him with some misconception.
"I... think it's a good thing to think about, but you'd probably be better off getting your answer from someone else." Someone who was actually... kind. Good. Generally, a better person. "After all... I'm the one who thought who thought your friend was attacking you. I make lots of mistakes like that. Would you really want to trust my opinion?"

He was disappointed though - it wasn't as simple as asking, was it? He supposed he could ask Kaito directly, or even Shijima at a stretch, but he didn't want them cottoning on that he was thinking about this. He wanted to resolve it on his own without asking for their assistance.
