Summary: After gathering answers on her anonymous post, Miyako set out to do some hands on research into a number of “hobbies”...with her brother’s help.
Warnings: N/A

Miyako had received a fair number of answers to her questions. She sorted through her notes, circling and crossing out what’s possible and not possible, and brainstorm some ideas from them. By the end of it, she’s ready to do some research and practice on the field.

But if she’s going to help William be more social, and possibly find an hobby, she would need to practice how to actually...well, help someone.

Out of all the people she knew in Hinoto-Ri, there’s one person she can call upon on. With that thought, she typed up a message and sent it.

Meet me in Cancer District as soon as possible.

After meeting up with Yamato and telling him her plans, Miyako forced her brother to come along and aid her. By aid, it really meant help her figure out how hobbies work and which one might be enjoyable to do.

In other words, Miyako’s more or less dragging her brother around the city to try a number of things. The twins can be found in the tech-filled Cancer District, the general shopping area in Virgo District and the artsy Scorpio District. The hobbies they’re trying out range from simple and normal to, well, less common ones.

(OOC: You can ask for a three way thread (your character -> Miyako -> Yamato, or whichever order we’re comfortable with), or just ask for one of the twins in the subject!)

Yamato looked slightly amused, crossing his arm over his chest as he smirked. "What's with that sort of question, Shijima? Is it truly that surprising that we're here?"

Although he understood the shock - the last time Yamato was in here had been during Shura's birthday, and he had just fumbled his way through the DDR Machine. It seemed that game was no longer here though, judging by a quick glance around, anyway. That or it had been moved.

Miyako quirk a small smile at Shijima's reaction. "Do you really wish to know why?"

The reason would be very odd to hear. Miyako dragging her brother along on this small "quest" for some good ideas.

"I didn't really peg you two for the type to be anywhere near here. Isn't 'fun' outlawed by Hotsuin rule?" He almost sounded snippy, but his tone and the smile thereafter made it pretty obvious that he was joking. ~~At least in public there were witnesses if they tried to beat the crap out of him.~~

"Sure! I'm not really doing anything besides hanging out."

Yamato ignored the comment - except to smirk in open amusement about it, because, ah, the Hotsuin version of fun probably shouldn't be discussed aloud - and rested his hand on his hip, tilting his head slightly.

"Miyako seems to have gotten it in her head to try civilian hobbies. I have been captured for her to torture along the way. Take my place, Shijima."

Rescue him. Be his knight in shining armour.

Miyako looked at Yamato, and then turned her gaze toward Shijima. She looked him over, as if appraising him.

"'Torture', is it? It's not the worst you experienced, Yamato." Unless you judged this on a different level from their spars. "But I do wonder how well Shijima can contribute."

"Wha-- no way!!"

Even if he was a knight, there was no way he was your knight, Yamato. "Don't just assume something like that!"

His attention shifted slightly to Miyako and suddenly he was really starting to regret starting this conversation at all. "W-Well... wait, 'civilian hobbies'?" Weird wording. "I can't really say I don't know anything... But uh, I don't really know how to...'help'..."

"You would be of more use to her than I," Yamato said, his tone gaining a persuasive quality as he subtly started shifting backwards. It looked like he was trying to find the proper moment to make a break for it, "You're more knowledgeable about civilian life, after all, and your tastes are more aligned with them as well..."

Miyako showed no signs of noticing her brother's movements. But she's expecting him to make a break for it, sooner or later. "I concede on that, but whether his answers are of any use is another matter."

Oh don't think he doesn't notice you trying to back away Yamato, because he totally does. Jerk.

"Yeah-- exactly!" Daichi declared, bracing his arms against the guard rail of the arcade machine. "You know me-- I'm never useful when it comes to answering questions and coming with ideas and stuff. You'd be better off working together to figure out what everyone else says."

"I wouldn't say that. You have some important insights every so often."

Yamato was now a full step away from Miyako, just out of arm's reach, and he looked casually to the side, as if merely taking in the sights. In fact, he was planning his escape route. Hm, if he could...

Whenever Yamato try to make his escape, Miyako will chase him down. Possibly.

"Important insights?" A brief pause. "I won't deny that possibility, but can he provide them right now?"

Miyako's stance shifted a little, crossing her arms.

Damnit no don't say that he was actually smart for once--

"Probably not," He said, crossing his arms and affecting a ~total~ tone of exasperation.

"All I've been doing is messing around in here all day! I don't think I've had a coherent thought for at least three hours."

"That's perfect!" Yamato chirped - yes. He chirped. He sounded cheerful. "Just what Miyako needs. A mindless activity that can occupy someone for a good few hours!"

"Yamato."

Oh, she can see where he's going with this. Her brother's going to ditch her with Shijima. At least wait until she dismiss him!

(Which will be in the evening later, before her appointment with another boy.)

"Erk--" Crap. Slight Miscalculation.

"H-Hey, doing something pointlessly and having to explain it are totally different things! I don't even know how to explain have the stuff I do!"

Smooth save.

"Besides, she's your sister, man--!" He continued, gesturing towards Miyako, because he could tell but that tone in her voice that Yamato was totally in trouble haha-- "She clearly needs your help."

"..."

The look Yamato gave Daichi could only be called wounded, almost as if Daichi had single-handed crushed every dream he held near and dear and pissed on their shattered remains for good measure. He was genuinely sad - sad that Daichi wasn't being a good little scapegoat like Yamato was trying to make him!

Damn it.

"...I don't see how being related means I'm obligated to help her."

THERE. HE SAID IT.

Miyako, too, gave Daichi a look as well. Unlike her brother's, it's not a wounded look, for Daichi didn't apparently crushed all of her dearest dreams.

"I'm only bringing him along because he's convenient."

And a part of her want to torment her brother, but shhhh.

Well, okay, and using him as a gauge for ideas.

Oh boy, looks from both sides-- he never thought he'd admit (even to himself) that Yamato's was way easier to handle!

"More obligated than me, that's for sure!" Yeah he's completely missing any possible hint of messed up family or sibling problems.

"Way more convenient than me too, I mean I've probably wasted at least ten minutes arguing."

Yamato finally decided to swallow his pride. He stepped forwards, directly in front of Daichi, and gripped his shoulders, leaning in close as if trying not to be overheard by his sister. This was serious. This was important.

"Help me, don't leave me alone with her, Shijima."

Miyako merely blinked, before raising a brow at both of them. She didn't seem to have overheard Yamato's words.

"Are you done, Yamato?"

Daichi's immedaite reflex, when Yamato came closer and grab his shoulders, was to punch him and run away as far as possible. Thankfully he didn't actually do that, though he was pretty sure he had a minor heart attack somewhere around there.

"W...Wha?!"

So yeah Daichi just kind of... stared vacantly, trying to process what the hell was going on, until he realized Miyako was talking and oh yeah--

"U-Uh... I, uh-- I mean there's no reason we... both...? Can't help out...?" OK even he had no idea what he was saying anymore. "I mean uh... three heads are better than just two, right? Or, one...?"

OK fine he was helping Yamato he guessed but he sure wasn't doing it alone goddamnit.

...

Well okay Yamato would take that. At the very least he could use Shijima as a buffer between himself and his sister (the poor fool). He looked relieved, and the gaze he gave the other boy was full of gratitude as he squeezed Daichi's shoulders. He let go though, stepping back and turning to meet Miyako with an almost bored expression.

"We're done. Shijima will be joining us on our venture."

She raised a brow.

"Oh, is that so?" Such a quick change, Shijima. She wondered what Yamato said to convince the other boy to come along. Whatever he said, this mean she have another helper (read: guinea pig) for this research.

"...Very well. Let's continue."

Now Daichi Shijima will learn why Yamato wanted out.

Yamato? Gratitude? Well damn if that wouldn't be something to write home about.

"Yeah-- sure! I mean, of course! Eheheh..." He did his best to laugh it off, half following after to stand before Yamato and Miyako, though giving the prior a look of his own that very basically said, 'You so owe me for this.'

Because he was pretty damn sure he should at least get like ten favors for whatever was going on with this.

"Right! After you!"
