Who: Yosuke Otoha, Johnny Rayflo, and Desco
Where: Otoha's apartment
Summary: It's Otoha's birthday, and Desco has decided to surprise him with a party! THIS CANNOT POSSIBLY GO WRONG

Desco, being incredibly enterprising when it comes to finding out things she...probably shouldn't know, has discovered a quite salient fact: Today is Uncle Otoha's birthday!

Obviously this means she must break into his apartment while he's gone and throw him a surprise party. He'll...probably have to replace that window.

At least he still has a door.

Meanwhile: Desco has just finished decorating the apartment for a party! It is very much the kind of party decorations that seven year-old girl would think up. Desco has also shelled out her stockpiled government stipend to get a chocolate cake and several cones of cotton candy.

Now that she's done, she's just sitting in direct view of the door, her tail wagging furiously as she waits for Uncle Otoha to come home.

Desco throws her arms up in the air and cheers.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"

She stares up at you, eyes shining, a wide grin on her face, and her stubby little tail a blur behind her.

Johnny dropped off what few bags he had and went back to Otoha to save the others from any other potential meetings with gravity. Obviously, those arms needed to be free for the hug the demon girl deserved.

"Surprise~ Happy birthday, O~to~ha. Mmmm good work, Desco, I think he needs a birthday hug or something!"

He shot Johnny a mild version of a death glare and crouched down to give Desco her needed hug. He patted her on the head and seemed to hunch into himself a bit.

"You guys didn't need to..."

It's just a birthday, okay?

Yaaay, hugs!

Desco just beams even more at your feeble protests.

"Desco WANTED to!"

With that, she deploys her tentacles and floats gently upwards to place a pointy party hat directly on your head.

Johnny's grin only widens at that glare and he sets about to putting the groceries away.

"You're young still, you should celebrate them as they come! Nothing wrong with being happy someone's alive for another year~" Especially someone as reckless as you.

But. Party hat. Birthday. What.

"Heh. I guess."

He hasn't celebrated a birthday in a really long time, though. He's not quite sure what to do.

... Desco seems to know, though.

"What now?"

Desco reabsorbs her tentacles and walks over to the cake, which has...a lot of candles on it.

"First you blow out the candles and make a wish!"

A sudden pause as she looks unsure.

"Desco couldn't get enough candles to do it in demon years, so she isn't sure if the wish will come true right away. But you still gotta make a wish anyway!"

Once the groceries were away, the vampire joined Desco at the cake, highly amused by the number of candles. He'd have to remember to show her roman numerals or simple numbered candles some time. Hopefully before Otoha got old enough to be a fire hazard.

"Is the difference in demon years that much different from human?"

"I'm 26. 27? I guess I should count the time in Vatheon. I'm pretty sure I don't physically age anymore, though."

It occurs to him that they're a pretty well matched dysfunctional group. They're all pretty freaking weird.

Almost like a little... oh. There's a flicker of something behind Otoha's eyes - probably enough for Johnny to catch it, but he forces another smile.

"Maybe you should just stick to numbered candles."

"In demon years Uncle Johnny is the same age as Desco!"

Desco actually stops to think about that.

"...Desco would have needed a much bigger cake if she had gone with that many candles, wouldn't she?"

"Same age, huh? That's probably the only way I'm not an old man! And maybe, but who said more cake was a bad thing?"

He'd been switching between looking at Desco and looking at Otoha and he had caught that flicker in the man's eyes. However, he had more tact than to call him on it, besides, it wasn't right for someone to force a smile on their birthday.

So Johnny came up behind Otoha and stood on his toes so he could fling his arms around the birthday boy's shoulders and rested his chin on Otoha's shoulder.

"Noow, then~! Don't you think you should make your wish before you turn 28? Or maybe you'd rather wait for the big 5-0"

He's not sure if he quite follows Desco - does that mean in demon years he's seven or so or does that mean that she's twenty seven but looks seven? ... He's not going to think about it.

- and suddenly Johnny. He huffs a little and rolls his eyes, leaning over to blow out the candles. It takes him to the end of his breath, but he manages to get them all.

Now get off his back, Johnny. Literally.

For demons, a century of life is about equal to a human's year of life. BUT ANYWAY, you blew out ALLLL the candles!

"Yaaay! Happy birthday!"

And now it's time to open the presents!
