They always say the first day on a new job is always the hardest.

But tell me...did those tasks include being taken from your own homeworld, dumped into a city you didn't recognize, meeting a man dressed in the purest of whites with a butterfly mask, to be bestowed the power of Persona, and then having some Men in Black lead you to the city hall saying you were expected?

What a way to start the first of September...

As they usher the last of you in, you realize that they've been preparing this for quite a while. There is a small table with food on the right, mixed cuisine (although the main theme seems to be Japanese dishes). Some strange computer program appears next to you and seems to be translating what you are saying so those before you understand. Language barriers? Don't be silly!

Most of the men ignore you after that. You are expected to mingle amongst yourselves a bit before the main 'show' starts, it seems....

"Cool!" And he means it. If anything, it sounds like some kind of fairy tale place to him.

"Japan doesn't have anything like that, but it's still alright."

Or, well...it was.

That's what you get for starting the world over again, but. It can't be helped, can it?

"...Want some?" He holds his plate out to the guy so he can try some good food.

"Ah...sure!"

Cautiously, he holds a hand out and above the plate. But, first things first: "...what is it?"

"It's takoyaki. It's basically street vendor food but it's really good! Try it."

Seriously.

It's amazing.

Okay. Okay he's gonna do it. He's gonna pick it up! He's gonna examine it! He's gonna put it in his mouth! HE'S GONNA--

"...huh."

Not too bad.

"Is this what you eat in Earth Japan?"

...Yes. Earth Japan.

He is totally going to remember you, dude.

"Haha, yeah. Well, not all the time, but yeah."

"Wha elf do u ea--" Hold on.

Le gulp.

"What else do you eat?"

"All kinds of stuff, but I guess seafood and rice and noodles if you're asking about traditional stuff. We eat stuff from all over, though."

He's...never had to think what kind of food he eats.

"See food?" Yes, he does enunciate it "see" "food". "Why do you call it see food?"

"Cuz it's...in the ocean? You know, the sea?"

That's what being an island means.

Blink, blink.

"...there's food in the sea?"

The only sea he has seen is in the fucking desert, yo.

"...Yeah? You know, like fish, shellfish and clams, sea urchin. All kinds of stuff."

"...Is this Skyloft place the only thing around or are there more places?"

"It's the only thing around in the sky. There's a whole world underneath the clouds, though. But I haven't been there long enough to really know what's all in it."

Also he was busy searching for Zelda etc

"Oh, well fish and other stuff live in the ocean. They're really good. Y'know the takoyaki you had is supposed to have some octopus in it."

Supposed to. He isn't sure if there's any in there now, but...

"Is that...a sort of fish?"

"Naw, it's more like a...a cephalopod? S'got tentacles and stuff."

...Oh come on, dude.

"Hey, you liked it, didn't you?"

"Y...yeah?"

And all things considered

There was no one more deserving of being eaten than fucking Tentalus

But still tho

"So what's the big deal? It's still good."

"...I once fought a giant monster with tentacles."

...He thinks about this for a second.

"...Awesoooooome. Octopus aren't giant monsters though. I'll have to show you pictures of them, some of them can be kinda cute."

"As long as they don't have a big eye and sharp teeth..."

And Medusa hair. Don't forget about that.
