▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

The Taurus monster had come and pass, as had Golden Week. The city was rebuilding itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safey, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside during the next few nights and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little momento from home.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independant log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

"I'd understand a lot more if you just cleared out and didn't have me targeted. And where did you get anti-tank lasers!?"

He's trying to deal with two things at once. While he argues with her, he punts one of the Chimera hard in the side and sending it crashing into a nearby wall.

"The battleship that is circling the site. As for the clear out all right. I'll back up, but keep an eye on the situation. I think they won't try that again."

She steps back a bit and keeps watching.

"Are we on an island?"

Battleship. That makes sense. He's seen experimental weaponry fired from battleships. If this is a strange dimension, they might have different, reasonable, advances in technology. Right?

Grabbing a goat head or one by the horns, he draws it down as he shoves his knee up. Twisting in place he runs and leaps at the last one. Using his momentum, he punches it hard enough to smash it into the pavement.

When this Chimera falls, the fight is over. He has a few scrapes on his armor but nothing that can't be buffed out. The fallen Chimera surround him.

"No, we're trapped in a city on Japan under some sort of barrier field. I detected a possible new arrival in the area and came to make sure that well, they weren't injured given this place."

"That's nice of you. Do you always offer to help the injured with lasers?"

"And where is your battleship then? Off the coast?"

Robo is going to glance around at the city. Japan? Well, that's going to be rough. He never bothered to learn the language. In his mind, these are hte immediate problems.

"No. There it is."

She points to the Nadesico, a cloud moving out of the way, as it hangs in the sky much in the same way bricks don't.

"As for help, not everyone this place calls here is capable of defending themselves without using the rules of this place, which it never explains and I find irritating given the lack of definition."

He looks up, and stares. Just staring. Well, that's not right. And that's a big ship.

"How does..."

"Rules?"

"Antigravitic drives. Its complicated, but unlike many things here there are at least scientific explanations for it."

She looks down and ponders for a minute.

"Everyone who is brought here is linked to what they call a Persona. Something that for lack of better classification they believe to be magical. I'm still working on analysis of the exact ways in which they work to demystify them though."

"I remember them mentioning a Persona... It's not sticking all that well in my head, though."

Robo comes walking over then. At least she hasn't called in an air strike yet. This can't be the future, that doesn't make sense either. Still, he's looking at something far more advanced than anything on his world.

"You sound almost rational about all of this, how old are you anyways?"

"I'm 16, and I've seen a lot of irrational things. I'm also a bad person to ask about the Persona things as I dislike using things that are called magic."

She closes the holographic panel open in front of her and shrugs a bit.

"It feels like giving up to use that."

"Using something you don't understand isn't giving up to magic, but it is probably dangerous and you probably shouldn't do it."

Robo doesn't plan to risk it. Looking around this place.

"Now, miss studies-too-much, where am I?"

"You are in one of the less civil districts of the city of Honto-Ri on the island of Japan. Currently as I stated the city is isolated due to some sort of energy barrier because of a rather poorly explained, at least to me disaster."

She shakes her head again.

"And no, its not that I don't understand it. It is that conventional explanation of it is that it IS magic. I was taught not to believe in fantasy like that as it is frequently unreliable."

"Oh, and I'm Ruri. Hoshino Ruri."

She bows a bit at that.

Robo awkwardly bows in response to her.

"Oh, yeah, I'm Atomic Robo Tesla. You can call me Robo. It's nice to meet you Miss Ruri."

"So, disaster in Japan, closed in by some sort of energy barrier? Got it."

Though the rest of this seems to stick with him. Rotating his arm as if to work out a kink in his shoulder. For now, though, he's not going to look into the Persona thing until he gets settled.

"I'm not going to take magic as an explanation of everything, though. Science and our understanding of it are constantly evolving. If we don't have a scientific explanation for it yet, then we'll have to invent one."

"I agree with that sentiment, however this is outside of the realm of particle physics or computer engineering, so I just stick to what I do understand when I can."

She looks at the arm rotation and tilts her head.

"If you need access to it, the Nadesico has a full repair bay. AI maintenance and repair was one of the things I did back home."

"Wouldn't be the first time I had to figure something out, I just wish I had some of my employees here."

He swings his arm a bit and, satisfied, shakes his head.

"I think I'm fine for now but thanks. AI maintenance?"

She ponders for a bit before letting out a breath.

"Omoikane, who is piloting the Nadesico right now is an AI that I was conditioned as a child to socialize and keep in line. He's grown more to be a brother to me, but still. Because of that I have offered my facilities to any of the Artificial Intelligences that have been brought here. I can help with repairs, but I've found most don't like anyone in their heads, so the space is open as long as its not abused."

"There's am actual AI in that thing?"

Now that's something to be a bit nervous about. Robo has yet to meet an AI that wasn't amoral and willing to kill humanity for it's own goals.

"Are there a lot of AI's around this place? As for my mind, you're probably better off leaving that be. No one can really fix any problems that happen there."

And if they did, well, he wouldn't be Robo anymore.

"Yes. We've grown up together. He's a little childish but he's only about 8 years old. And there are a few others. I've met at least 4 androids and another fully sentient computer system that may be being exploited by the local government. I'm not entirely certain about that. As for programing issues I understand, that's why I offer the facilities, just I've seen governments try to.... Force their will on AI's before and I know how to undo that."

"I've seen AI's come to some pretty terrible conclusions all on their own, too."

"So, lets get back to you. They started conditioning you since when?"

Because human experimentation is always terrible. There's a lot about all of this he isn't happy about. Of course, the less than specific memories of why he's here isn't helping.

"I've kept Omoikane from doing some horrible things too. Still we make an effective team, as for the other thing... Since birth. It isn't a very interesting topic."

She looks down a bit.

"It's okay, I won't pry."

Yep, terrible. He does let the topic drop, though.

"So, why don't you show me this AI of yours?"

"We'll have to get to a clearing. I don't want to damage anything bringing the ship down."

"Lead the way."

He's not sure how he feels about a giant battle ship floating over his head, but he's got a lot of things to deal with right now.

She nods and starts off.

"At least the distortion field will keep the monsters away."

"Are there ones that fly?"

He really, really wishes he had his gun right now. Everything is easier when he can put a bullet in it.
