▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

 

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

The Taurus monster had come and pass, as had Golden Week. The city was rebuilding itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safey, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside during the next few nights and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little momento from home.

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independant log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

[Agatha is not sure what to make of suddenly being brought into a new place. All she can do for a few minutes is just look around at her surroundings with a cautious eye. This is not home at all, she doesn't recognize any of the surroundings. A possible explanation is, of course, that magic is involved. It isn't unheard-of for someone to be spirited away; it happened, tragically enough, to the neighbor's son about five years ago. He was returned, thankfully, but he didn't remember anything.

So this could very well be a case of being spirited away by a mischievous or malicious spirit - fair enough. Her kin would likely be distressed, but they'd still be able to perform their duties, so hopefully it wouldn't distress them. However, there's a flaw in this theory the more she thinks about it. After all, if the spirit were mischievous or malicious, why would it land her in a city not dissimilar to her own? .... Well, there's an easy enough answer for that, unfortunately: the idea of parallel universes. It wasn't a substantiated theory, but it had been explored enough in speculative fiction and the like that she had some idea of what it meant: a world similar to one's own, but with some differences.

With her luck, these differences would not be good ones. She shifts her messenger bag uneasily, the scrape of the bag against cloth and bandage making her grimace slightly. Ah, right, she remembers now. Her first priority right now is to find a proper healer to get some of these injuries fixed up. She can't allow herself to be off duty much longer.

Even if she's in a different world, she has to keep going. Keep going, or fall into despair.

After a brief look at the strange statue she arrived near (best to have some point of reference so as not to get lost) - after that, she gets moving.]

[There's someone wandering around near the statue, and he spots the girl. She looks like she needs a heal, so he raises his staff a little and murmurs 'La Repth'.]

[He doesn't need attention, but she does need a healer.]

[And she notices this, turning to where she thinks that spell came from. Hopefully. Well, where's the nearest person who looks like a mage?

... .... Ah.]

[He shrugs a little.]

... No problem. You're new, right?

Yes, I just arrived a few seconds ago.

[There's a pause.]

If I may ask...people are normally spirited away here?

Pretty much, yeah. From all different worlds.

None of us did. And it's called Hinoto-Ri.

Oh. I see.

[Ha...Ha...God, she's an idiot. Well, why is that not a surprise. Hinoto-Ri, though...That sounds Eastern, which means returning home is going to be much harder than expected. Fortunately the Sheridans have contingency plans for incidents like this.

Panic is an unnecessary and, more importantly, unacceptable reaction to the situation.]

[She resumes...looking at her surroundings. Ayep.]

...For a place where people get spirited away to, this Hinoto-Ri is very urban.

[Indicating that either this has been going on for a very long time (daunting) or there was already a civilization developed to this level before people started to be brought here (less daunting.)]

[Even if she's already been healed there's still bandages to indicate that she may have needed it. Midori is concerned about you, random stranger.]

[She looks up at Midori. Midori, meet the face of line.]

Thank you for your offer, it's very kind, but I already got help. I just haven't had the time to remove my bandages yet.

Are you sure they got everything? I'm really good at healing.

[Aww she missed her chance to help.]

[Oh. Good. People she can turn to when she is incapacitated. This is a very good thing. This will make it easier to resume or continue her duties.]

Yes, I'm sure. [There's a pause.] It looks worse than it is. The bandages, I mean.

That's good! Because... it looks really bad.

Have you been introduced to the city yet?

[Most of her skin is covered with clothing...but that's right, people can extrapolate from a given detail. Like, say, the bandages extending from below her neckline. One could suppose there was more and worse beneath it.

It makes sense - but even if it had been that bad, the fact remains that Agatha's desensitized to pain by now.]

I'm aware that this city's called Hinoto-Ri, and that people are frequently spirited away here. Is this information accurate?

[For someone who's about the same age, she's pretty...yeah, line in the face and not emoting in the voice.]

Uh-huh, that's right. The people brought here are called Visitors. We're supposed to save the city.

... "Save?" Who decided this? Why does Hinoto-Ri need to be saved, and from what?

[There's a pause.]

Sorry for bombarding you with all of these questions, by the way.

Yamato disliked shopping - there were too many people, too many brands, too many odd foodstuff he didn't know... if he could, he would just sent one of his demons to shop for him, but demons weren't exactly good at picking food that humans could actually eat. So once a week, Yamato had to brave the horrors that was grocery shopping - but very early in the morning, when most people were asleep and the shops were just beginning to open.

It was when he was enroute to one of his regular stores that he spotted her - a very ragged her. It looked like there was a heavily injured girl shuffling her slow way through the Virgo ward, and, judging by her expression, was somewhat lost, or new. Ah, this was around the time when newcomers came, wasn't it?

After a moment of consideration, Yamato began towards her. He could at least direct her to the hospital if she required it. Having someone keel over and die in the middle of the street was not healthy for those in the surrounding area.

"Are you in need of assistance?"

Agatha looks at the pale man, half because you're supposed to look at someone when you address them, and half to assess the person in front of her. There's an equal lack of expression there. Curious. Perhaps they both have duties to take care of? Entirely possible.

"I have already been healed, if that's what you mean."

There's a brief pause as she furrows her brows, thinking. She may be healed, but she needs to get these bandages off so people stop being concerned over it when she is not actually injured.

"If I may ask a question, however - are there any places newcomers can stay until they get back on their feet?"

"Newcomers are allocated free housing courtesy of Hinoto-Ri's government," Yamato replied, resting his hand on his hip in a rather feminine pose. "You will need to go to City Hall to register. I can lead you there, if you wish, but you will have to direct yourself to your quarters alone after that."

[badluckhealer]

Feminine, masculine, it makes no difference all told. People are people. They exist, they live, and it is not her place to judge. At Yamato's statement, she nods.

"That's only fair. I will have to learn this city's layout sooner or later, and sooner would be better. Thank you again, and I apologize for the inconvenience."

"..." Yamato said nothing in response. Anything to put off shopping, he supposed, although it would be an hour later when he returned, and there would be more people... hmph. Whatever.

He pivoted on his heel and strode off, not even looking over his shoulder to see if the girl was following.

This much can be said for the kid: she didn't complain. She might've had some trouble keeping up the pace (thanks, family health issues, thanks a lot,) but she didn't complain. What would the point be? Given the prior injuries, she would have to rest anyway. This just meant it'd be a longer rest.

No, complaining was useless. Trying to learn the layout of the city, on the other hand, was very useful.

tl;dr: Yamato's going to have a very not-talky walking buddy. Y...ay...?

After a few minutes, Yamato realised that his new companion seemed to be struggling in keeping up with his long, powerful strides. After a pause, he slowed his steps somewhat, glancing over his shoulder at her with a frown.

"You're quite slow."

Ah, great. How the hell had he noticed? Well, no point in wondering things like that.

"Apologies. Family history of health problems."

...Also, family history of ignoring the goddamn agility stat. But that's neither here nor there.
