Omnia Mutantur Nos Et Mutamur In Illis (Newcomer + 13th Hour Log)

▼ All things change, and we change with them (13th hour & arrival log)

Who: Anyone
Where: The entire city
When: May 8th - May 14th
Summary: This is both a Newcomer log AND a General 13th hour log
Warnings: That depends who is there. Remember to mark your titles clearly if any warnings need to be issued!

▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

The Taurus monster had come and pass, as had Golden Week. The city was rebuilding itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safey, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside during the next few nights and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little momento from home.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

▼ Extra Long OOC Blurb

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independant log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

DON'T FORGET TO TAG WITH YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME PLEASE.

...That guy's from my world.

[Atsuro will gesture towards the spear-waving madman.]

We can take it on together. The other shouldn't be much of a problem...

[...'The other' looked pretty cute, actually, to be honest. Oguns themselves weren't exactly a threat at Atsuro's level, either demon-wise or Persona-wise. In fact, he saw no reason to even change his Persona despite that he knew his enemy to have an advantage against it...]

Chouchin-obake?

[The paper lantern will leap out of Atsuro's hands and tear open, revealing its true form with a gleeful cackle. The lantern ghost extends an enormous tongue that licks at the Ogun. ...This accomplishes nothing except to vaguely gross out everyone in the vicinity.

He makes a mental note to tell it to stop that.]

Let's go!

[A new fighter has joined the fray! Ogun shakes its mask in a lurching manner before staggering forward to thrust with its spear.]

((Would you like to control the demons or shall I or shall we both?))

From your world?

[That gives Hoshi pause. If something from this kid's homeworld can appear in the city, then creatures from her own world could potentially show up, too... The very idea of it makes her shudder, but she quickly shakes it off. That's something she can worry about later.

She flashes Atsuro a small grin, which quickly dissolves into a frown of disgust as she watches the ghost lick their foe. Um. That was sort of gross. But whatever. Again, she has more important things to worry about, like the Ogun staggering toward her, which she just barely manages to dodge, distracted by the newcomer and the burn on her arm as she is.]

...Then you likely have more experience against these things than I. That should make things easier.

((We both can, if you'd like! You're probably better at it than I am ha ha ha.))

((Sure! And nah, I just ask because most people don't seem to like to.))

Atsuro was enough of a nerd that he had grown an interest in myths and cultural folklore after his exposure to the demons of his world. Japanese youkai and Shinto gods were easy enough to find information on. Others were common knowledge, like Cerberus or Basilisk. ...A few, though, were tricky.

Ogun went under the category of 'things Atsuro had never heard of and vaguely wished he hadn't', and to his knowledge, it stemmed from an African myth about a spirit of war. They had been irritating enemies early on due to their tendency to spam Bind, but he felt relatively confident, at this point, to responding to Hoshi's comment in the affirmative.

"Yeah. These guys like to throw Fire spells around." As these things usually go, he notices Hoshi's burn about 0.5 seconds after he finishes that statement. "...Which I guess you already know. Ice works best, but... let's see if they can really stand the heat."

Before him, Chouchin-obake flares to life with another cackle as it opens its mouth and spews forth a powerful Maragidyne.

The things Hoshi was used to fighting back home were disgusting aliens and nothing more (to her knowledge, at least), and certainly not stories and legends come to life, so mythology had never piqued her interest. But now, she'll be poking around on the Internet for information before long, herself. At this very moment, however, she's more interested in killing the Ogun than learning about whatever its backstory is.

"Yes, I noticed," she says dryly. But the burn is minor, a small injury that she might even be able to heal on her own later, so she can mostly ignore it for now.

She stands back, watching Chouchin-obake with interest. Fighting with Persona is still very new to her, so watching someone else more experienced is rather impressive - and humbling, considering how much more damage Atsuro dishes out, even when their opponent is strong against his chosen spell. Still, she can't just stand idly by and let him do all the work; that's not the way of a Magical Hunter.

"Go on, Hotaru." The wolf raises its head and howls before lunging toward the Ogun with a Kill Rush - once, twice, three times Hotaru attacks the demon.

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-13 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Combined, the two attacks together were almost enough to destroy the Ogun outright. But the Green Requiem waiting in the wings had no other purpose in life but to prevent this kind of thing from happening, and as the Ogun begins to succumb to its wounds, the Heartless hovers a bit closer and sends a scattering of green dust in its ally's direction.

"...Oh. A healer."

Chochin-obake directs its attention (and its voluminous tongue) towards the Heartless with a sadistic glint in its paper eyes as Ogun struggles to recover.

"It must be strong against Fire, too, to still be standing..."

"Tch."

Well, that's frustrating. But it can't be helped, and Hoshi supposes it's her own fault, for ignoring one enemy in favor of fighting another... And for not realizing that the cute green thing would do something like this - the cute ones are always especially annoying, in her experience.

"We ought to focus on that one first, then," she suggests, watching as Hotaru turns on her new target, snarling. "Defeat it before it has another chance to heal; then the Ogun won't be too much trouble."

Or so she would like to think, but their foe seems to have something different in mind - such as spamming Bind.

"Wh--?" Both Hoshi and the wolf stagger when it hits, and she glowers irritably. "I suppose I spoke too soon."
otakuro: (Fight)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-14 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the pain of Bind spam. Atsuro knew it well. He couldn't help but feel vaguely relieved that the Ogun had chosen to focus on Hoshi rather than himself.

"I've got your back."

In the meantime, Hoshi would probably find herself incapable of moving much further than a foot or so as her feet seemed to trip all over themselves. Ten seconds was plenty enough time for the Ogun to skewer and roast its prey; being familiar with this pattern, Atsuro hurriedly steps forward to intercept the spear as it is thrust towards Hoshi.

"Hey, look away!"

Chouchin-obake happily bobs forth as its flame sputters and dies. Only for a moment, though. The next instant, the entire block is illuminated with a light so brilliant that it seems as though the sun has decided to plant itself in the middle of the city. The Light-based attack, with any luck, would be effective on both monsters...

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-15 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
As Hoshi opens her mouth to give Atsuro her thanks, the light from Chouchin-obake's attack shines forth, and she cries out, hurriedly ducking her head and covering her eyes.

"Ah...!" When the light finally fades, she lifts her head back up, rubbing her eyes, before taking a few bumbling steps forward to assess the situation. Both had taken damage from the Light attack, the Green Requiem more so than the Ogun, but if they could just take the healer out...

Again, Hotaru rears her head back, howling as she unleashes a weak Dark spell on the cute green thing. It's a weaker spell than what Chouchin-obake had to offer, but Hoshi can only hope that it's enough.

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-16 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Green Requiems aren't exactly known for their fortitude and resilience in the face of adversity, particularly when adversity comes in the form of rapid-fire assault. The small Heartless takes the final blow and expires, fading into a burst of light.

"Great! Now let's finish this...!"

With the Ogun still jabbing with the spear, Atsuro sidesteps out of the way before bringing one hand down straight on top of the shaft. ...Amazingly, it cracks. This is quickly followed up by a whirling kick straight to the demon's face that sends it flying to the floor and then a final blow while the creature is down.

The power of Deathbound did amazing things.

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-19 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Once the Green Requiem goes down, Hoshi watches Atsuro knock out the Ogun with interest. The other visitors to this city were impressive fighters, indeed.

"Excellent work," she says, shaking her head as the residual effects of Bind wear off. Once she regains her balance, she steps closer to Atsuro, bowing her head politely. "Thank you for the assistance."
otakuro: (Happy)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-19 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, it's not a problem. ...I hope I didn't butt in or anything."

He had known some people in this city who were more upset to be helped than anything. Atsuro backs away from the Ogun and watches as it dissolves into what he assumes to be magnetite.

"You probably would have done fine on your own. ...Have you been here long?"

Once upon a time, Hoshi really, sincerely believed that she was better off by herself, and stronger alone. Teamwork simply wasn't for her, or so she had been lead to believe. Things have changed for her, of course, but there's still a small part of her that would much rather go without help from anyone.

The battle over and done with, she solemnly watches her Persona fade away. Well, the two of them, she and this boy, had worked well together — she isn't so proud as to deny that.

"Don't worry about it." She shakes her head and shrugs. "Ah — it's only been a month or so. Still adjusting to the whole... Persona thing."
otakuro: (Grim)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-20 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. It's hard to put your mind around, isn't it?"

Chouchin-obake drifts over in Hoshi's general dire --

"No licking."

Chouchin-obake sullenly drifts back towards Atsuro and collapses back into its normal state in an exaggerated fashion. Atsuro reaches down and picks up the now-quiescent paper lantern.

"I'd like to think my soul is a little more hygienic, honestly."
darkens: (13.)

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-21 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it back home."

No manifestations of the soul to be found, just, you know, your standard magical girl fare. The demons are a nice change of pace from the disgusting aliens she's used to, at least.

Hoshi takes a couple unnerved steps back away from Chouchin-obake and its massive tongue, frowning. Ew.

"Er. Yes, I would certainly hope so."
otakuro: (Default)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-22 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, don't worry. ...He's a ghost so it wouldn't be real spit, anyway."

Not that ghost spit sounded much more appealing. Chouchin-obake takes the opportunity to whirl around in Atsuro's hand to cackle at Hoshi before Atsuro gives it a firm shake.

"...Are you from Japan, by the way? Your clothes are... They're what we use in a type of martial arts we have."
darkens: (11.)

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-22 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm from Japan, yes. Sugikishi, if you've heard of it," Hoshi explains with a nod of her head. Nano hadn't seemed to recognize the name of her fictional generic anime city, so she doesn't really expect anyone else to, either. "The clothes are — I practiced martial arts at home, so..."

She shrugs impassively. "I wanted practice a bit with Hotaru tonight, instead."
otakuro: (Default)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Sugikishi..." Atsuro has to mull this over for a few moments. "...Cedar Beach [杉岸]? Cedar Wood City [杉木市]?" A short pause. "I can't say I've heard of it, actually. Do you know what province of Japan it's in?"

It was perfectly possible, of course, that she came from a place like Iwatodai that didn't exist in his world.

"...I'm from Tokyo. My name's Atsuro - Atsuro Kihara."
darkens: (4.)

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-26 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's in Tokyo, actually," Hoshi replies, not that it helps any. The concept of different realities and universes, with varying versions of Japan and the rest of the world, is something she's still trying to wrap her head around.

She wonders if Atsuro's world is a happier, more peaceful one. Considering his familiarity with the Ogun from earlier... probably not. A shame, that.

"Kihara-san. It's nice to meet you." She pauses thoughtfully. This may not be home, but her identity as a Magical Hunter is a secret one — it might be best for her to keep it that way. So she gives him the first name that comes to mind: "I'm Hinawa."

"It's nice to meet you, Hinawa. I'll just... assume your Tokyo is totally different from my Tokyo, then." Atsuro gives a small shrug. "For all we know, this could still be Tokyo. ...It's definitely in Japan, anyway."
darkens: (13.)

[personal profile] darkens 2013-05-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm still having trouble with the idea that there are multiple versions of Tokyo, to be honest." Hoshi wrinkles her nose, though it's more out of regret in her choice of alias than the confusing concept of alternate realities. "You are correct, though; there is no doubt that we are still in Japan... if a very bizarre version of it."
otakuro: (Embarrassed)

[personal profile] otakuro 2013-05-27 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's post-apocalyptic, actually."

Atsuro felt a vague burden to explain the details to people who asked, given that he and Saber had found most of the information in the first place.

"The details are foggy, but something wiped out the rest of the world nine years ago -- or at least, the city believes that to be true."
