Summary: We have a pool now!  Summer fun for everyone!

[It's summer, and what would summer be without a pool?  Well, thankfully for the good citizens and Visitors of Hinoto-Ri, the public pool is finally open for business!  With three different pools, a snack bar, and plenty of space on the grass for playing frisbee or just laying out to get some sun, there's plenty of summertime fun for everyone!  There are also a number of pool toys to use, ranging from basketball hoops and plastic balls, water noodles, boogie boards, and just about anything else you can think of.]

[Nano blinks curiously at Atsuro as he's thinking, but is just as happy to dismiss that line of thought as he is.]

Yes! That's right. It's too nice out today to worry about things like that.

The Anoli will always be there, anyway, right?

[With that cheerful thought, Atsuro closes the lid of his computer and stretches.]

I need a refill on these fries. You want anything, Nano?

Oh! Um... whatever you're having is fine!

Aw, there's so much, though! You should pick something you really want. I can cover it!

Come on!

[Atsuro will stand and tuck his (fixed) laptop under one arm before heading towards the refreshments.]

Well, if you're offering...

[Nano stands to follow Atsuro, looking up at the menu.]

Maybe a slice of pizza? And a soda?

Sure!

[It really was a nice day out. Atsuro takes his time as he heads for the refreshments stand, noting the cloud of people flitting in and out with their food. It would probably take a few minutes before they could be served...]

...You know, I kind of wish I did know how to swim well. It just wasn't something that happened when I was a kid.

[Well, it is the height of summer, so that's no surprise. Nano's content to wait with him, though.]

It's all right, I don't know how either. I'm not sure if I really could even if I wanted to, so I just play in the shallow end.

The, er... hydraulics aren't advanced enough?

[He had no idea if robot swimming operated on hydraulics, honestly.]

It's nice to just dip your feet in, too. That's usually what I end up doing.

[And it keeps your hands free to play games.]

I don't know... I've never really tried before.

[Nano doesn't know either, so that makes two of them.]

Do you want to sit by the pool together when we're done eating, Atsuro-san?

Er...

[Atsuro glances down at his laptop for a moment.]

...Sure! I can... put this back in my bag and bring it along.

[As long as sitting was all that was required.]

Do you think it's a little crowded right now, though?

[all_wound_up]

Oh... it might be. I wouldn't want to be responsible for breaking a second one of your computers.

[otakuro]

Hey, the first one wasn't broken! ...Just the screen. I had it replaced in less than two days.

[Part of the first day had been dedicated to a memorial service for his faithful screen for serving him so long.]

It'll probably be more open by the time we're finished eating -- Looks like the line here's opening up, too.

That's good. I'm glad you were able to get it fixed quickly.

[Nano really does look honestly relieved.]

Oh, you're right! We're almost to the front already.

What was that you wanted again...?

[And in due time, they have made their purchases, leaving Atsuro's wallet slightly emptier but his belly satisfyingly fuller.]

Go ahead and take some fries if you'd like.

[He heads back towards the table they had come from.]

[Nano helps him carry the food back, setting it down.]

It's such a nice day. I'm glad I was able to spend it here with you and everyone.

Yeah! It's nice to have some time off like this.

[Atsuro's response, though cheerful enough, comes in a slightly vague manner as he seats himself at the table.]

It seems like our leisure activities usually just consist of fighting demons and that kind of thing.

You're right. There's always so many of them... I wonder where they all come from.

Mars.

[He responds firmly.]

We've probably gone over the topic enough that it's anyone's guess at this point. Outer space is usually a good answer.

Just like in those late night movies, right?

Exactly!

They're probably trying to harvest our brains to use as rocket fuel or something. Don't worry; they'll die when they get exposed to Earth bacteria.

[Atsuro watches strange movies.]

Or a scientist will invent something to beat them! Or maybe a group of children will make friends with a good demon and team up with it to beat the bad ones.

...The last one sounds pretty accurate. If we can call Philemon a demon.

[If angels were demons, Philemon totally was, too.]

Then everything will be fine! Those movies always turn out good in the end.

[Though usually after half of Tokyo is destroyed, but let's conveniently gloss over that.]

Right! Plucky children can't ever lose. It's one of the rules of making movies.

...And I think we definitely qualify.
