Leo to Pisces Wards; August 8th
It was probably a wise decision. Hospital hours on Sundays were short, but all he needed to do was walk in and pick up the hard copy of his test information, which was simple enough. The receptionist handed it over to him with a smile, something he echoed back brightly enough.
And then, as he walked, he looked over the tests himself.
Everything looked normal. He was perfectly fit, with blood levels all comfortably within the acceptable range, and no health issues to speak of aside from a slightly high cholesterol intake.
Except that in of itself was completely, horribly wrong. He'd kept track of the time; by now, he should have been suffering from anemia at the very least, if not further degeneration of his body. He should have been slowly dying by now, to ensure that the fate met by Yaiba did not come about again.
He's visibly shaken as he exits the hospital, setting a quick pace back to his apartment in Pisces. He won't call out to anyone, or stop to say hi, but he can't exactly prevent it if someone catches him for some socializing...]

Hey, Hizumi! You okay?

--Taro. Hey. I'm fine.
[...Physically, that is.]

[He reaches out to put his hand on the other's shoulder, but slowly enough that he can move away if he wants.]
You looked kind of worried there. Did you have a bad result from a test or something?

[Nothing, is what he wants to say. Of course, lying like that isn't permitted right now.]
--just that I'm worried I might live too long.

What did he just say?]
no subject
[Then again...]
Why? Though... heh. Living a long time isn't all it's cracked up to be.
[... Wait did he say that?]
no subject
"No one wants to live forever", right?

[It is when he is within sight of the apartment building that the voice calls out. Atsuro is approaching from the direction of the Pisces apartments... despite the fact that he doesn't actually live there.]
Nice day out, huh? How's every... thing?
[Atsuro trails off slightly as he notes Hizumi's rattled expression.]
no subject
Yeah, guess so.
I'm just worried.
[--Wait, what?]
no subject
[Well. It must really be something serious if he was going to admit it so readily. Atsuro frowns slightly as he approaches.]
What's wrong? Anything I can help with?
no subject
No.
[That was quick.]
no subject
OK.
[...This was getting a bit strange.]
...Er. If you'll excuse me saying so, I've never seen you looking like this. Is it serious?
no subject
[Argh.]
But it doesn't concern you.
[His eyes flicker towards the apartments not unlike a caged animal seeking escape.]

She didn't plan on talking to him, but his visibly seen distress caught her attention. Once he's reasonably close enough, she spoke up.]
Mizushiro, what's troubling you?
no subject
I'm not dying.
[--Wait.]
no subject
What do you mean?
no subject
[Nnnnnng.]
Look. Normally it's fun to mess with you, and sometimes I even like to see you exploring new things, but I really shouldn't talk about this right now.
[That came out more candid than intended.]
no subject
[So her concern is basically for one of the few people that entertains her.]
Especially since you said you're not dying, but you don't look happy about it.

He waves to the other teenager, but realizes not a second later that something is visibly amiss. Of course, he assumes it to be bad news.
If only he understood just how bad it is.]Ah, hey... You okay?
no subject
He manages, somehow, to summon up a smile, but it's more distracted than usual. His grins almost always had some degree of falsity to them, but this one in particular is definitely an effort.]
...Just got some test results back. It looks like everything's fine. [Physically speaking, anyway. It's ironic, how being at the peak of health can be such a horrible omen.]

Otonashi respects privacy. He really, truly does. But when the person he is speaking with has been known to be a danger to himself, the redhead encounters a moral struggle.
Respect patient privacy, or push it due to a dangerous history?]
... If that's true, why do you look so strained?
1/2
But what actually comes out is:]
Because I'm not dying.
2/2
That wasn't what he'd meant to say at all. Why would those words of all things come out of his mouth-?]
no subject
Most patients would be relieved to know that. Why--
[He hesitates, but steps forward, his tone firm but not aggressive.]
Why does the idea of that make you look ill?
