Farewell Happy Fields!
Farewell Happy Fields!
☯
What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.
Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).
So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.
---
Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...
There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.
By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...
[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!
You may all start your threads and mingle!]
Sasha Fyer - YELLOW injuries - Open to all!
Sasha was scared. She had encountered an enemy that neither she nor anyone she was fighting with seemed capable of striking down. They absorbed her main methods of attack and turned everything else against her. She had tried to help and be a hero like she had seen so often, and all it did was get her utterly pancaked. The painkillers were working, so she was fine for now, but the memories of that pain still lingered in her mind. There had to be something she could do. Something.
At this point, she was useless. She sighed, hung her head, and blinked a few tears onto the hospital blanket. Useless.

"Sasha?" He stopped when he noticed her...and not looking too good. In more than one way. It was weird to think the last time he talked to her they were joking about all that Teen Beat crap.
"Hey... everything alright?"

He went ahead and pulled up once of the little stools that were usually sitting near their beds in case of visitors or doctors, a frown of concern on his face despite her best attempts to hide it. "You'll be OK though, right? You seemed really down about it... Though I guess it's not surprising someone'd be sad about being shot, really."

Hey, he's learned a thing or two helping the medics out!
"Having your Persona attacked...?" Ow. He's not surprised that it's possible, but it's kind of weird to think about. He knew it was a bad idea to actually use these things...! "I-I would guess getting your Persona attacked would hurt more, since it's kind of a mental projection..."

..Wait.
"You mean they didn't use their Personas? At all?"

"So they caused all this damage to people without even using a Persona? G-Geez... What does that mean when they do use them?"

He sits down next to her bed. "I'm glad you're okay, though. I'd hate to think anything worse could've happened, especially considering the state of some folks here." He shakes his head. "Or the state of those who couldn't come here at all."
The mental image of the deaths in the hallway flits through his mind hauntingly, but he shakes it out. "I kind of missed the main event, though. I got pulled away for something when things went down. I still need to go back for that, actually." Poor Fumie.

He blinked, then rubbed the back of his neck. "Honestly? One of the ghosts of the stadium wanted me to help some little girl stuck in a bathroom. I still need to resolve that one, actually. I promised her I'd come back." He sighs. "When you're in a position like mine, you're never really OFF duty."

❤ -- Story time! :D
Right... right, the party, earlier that month! They'd spoken then, something about how she collected stories. What was her name, again...? Sasha?
He raised his wing, reaching around to the outside of it, and his hand came away with one of the largest feathers, a black one about a foot and a half long, by half a foot wide. He folded his wings back behind him again, and ran his fingers over the feather as he stepped inside, making sure that its barbs were locked together neatly.
"Back where I come from," he started, quiet, looking down at the feather, "my clan's ranks are from the human guards'. Some of them... my brothers offer to make them one of us, when they die. So our hunters are all of the Citadel they protect from the monsters that the other clans have become. They gave up their afterlives -- their chance at coming back again -- to stay, to continue to watch over those they served with in their human lives.
"So the humans... they consider our clan their guardian angels, I believe." He couldn't help the smile, self-conscious as it was. "We're not, I'm sure. I mean-- guardians, yes, I know the others are... but we're not really angels. Still... the humans, and the guards in particular, like to take our shed feathers, and keep them as good luck charms, or... for protection. Some part of those who watch over them, that they can keep close."
He held the giant feather out to her, offering it with a hopeful little smile. "I'm no hunter," he admitted, certain she already knew that full well, "and I can't say I know of any magical qualities to these myself... but... here. Perhaps you'll find some in this one?"

"I'm... afraid I'm not altogether certain what else is considered good luck where I'm from any more, though. Opinions tend to change over the centuries, and I... I haven't kept up. I tend to believe that luck is what one makes of it."
Not that that's kept him from blaming his for any number of things, but shh. He doesn't need to go into that. Nor the logic that if his feathers were so lucky, he would've fared better in the chaos a while ago than he actually did. That was all beside the point.
