It begins. A strange aura spreads out over Hinoto-Ri, stealing into the hearts, minds, and mouths of every denizen of the city, changing them - embiggening their souls with the power of TRUTHINESS.

For one week, Hinoto-Ri becomes a city where no lies can exist. Who is responsible for this? Will their dedication to ABSOLUTE TRUTHINESS bring them victory...or defeat?

[Nano's far too trusting and naive to really notice much of anything going wrong, and generally honest about most things that don't have to do with her robotic nature. It's going to take her a while to figure out what's happening, so anyone who wants to know her deep, dark secrets should probably ask her before she does.

She can be found in various places throughout town during the week - at the Pisces apartments where she lives, the Ichiban Market doing her grocery shopping, the front desk of the Amagi Inn, and even out and about during the 13th Hour as she does her part to help fight demons and monsters.]

Desco hasn't really noticed the truth thing either - she generally considers lying to humans as not worth the effort it takes to think up the lie in the first place.

She's spent most of the day following Nano around - openly, mind, tottering after her on undersized, perpetually-unsteady feet - and now she feels like breaking up the routine of silent adoration with some conversation, asking a question that's been on her mind since Nano's birthday.

"Miss Nano? If you're a robot, who made you?"

[Nano's content enough to have Desco trailing along after her, though she does make her catch up and hold her hand when they're crossing streets and things like that. The question does throw her just a little, though, coming out of nowhere like that.]

Hm...? Oh, you must have been curious... I was built by the Professor. You know the sign above my house, the one that says Shinonome Lab? That was where we lived before I came here.

[tyrantball]

Desco considers this.

"Um, um, is the Professor a demon or an alien?"

[blink blink]

N-no, she's just a little girl... an eight year old girl.

[tyrantball]

There's a slight pause as Desco struggles to understand.

"Desco wouldn't believe you if she didn't consider you family, but it is very hard to accept that there's even a single human as smart as Daddy."

[all_wound_up]

[Nano scratches at her head, looking back down toward Desco.]

It's true, though. She's very smart, especially for a little girl. She's always inventing things around the house - like a scarf that translates animal noises into human speech.

[tyrantball]

Okay well that is enough to distract Desco.

"That sounds neat! Desco will accept that she is as smart as Daddy, then."

[all_wound_up]

I wish you could meet her. I miss her so much.

[Huh, Nano usually keeps that sort of thing bottled up. Where did that come from?]

[tyrantball]

Desco pats Nano's hand gently with one taloned hand.

"Desco really misses Big Sis, too, but she blindly clings to her faith that she will get here eventually!"

Pause.

"...huh? Why did Desco say that?"

[all_wound_up]

[Nano squeezes back at Desco's hand, hoping to comfort her.]

I'm sure you'll see her again.

[At least that much is true. Nano does hold out that much hope for herself and everyone in Hinoto-Ri.]

...Hm? What do you mean?

[tyrantball]

"Desco would normally never admit that all she has to reassure her is blind faith!"

Wait.

"Ah! Desco did it again!"

Oh, Desco-chan...

[Nano frowns, crouching down to give the little demon a hug. That's really kind of a sad thing to hear.]

[tyrantball]

Desco returns the hug, because she's clingy like that, but quickly loses herself in thought before coming to a decision. Taking a deep breath to prepare herself, she whispers something.

"Big Sis is a ghost."

At this statement, Desco claps both claws over her mouth as tears begin to gather in the corners of her red eyes.

"Oh no...Desco is sorry, Big Sis! She didn't mean to disobey your orders!"

A...

[Nano's about to repeat the word ghost, but it seems Desco's even more distressed about something else.],/small>

W-what? What's wrong? What did you do? What orders?

[tyrantball]

"Big Sis only accepted Desco as her little sister because Desco promised to obey her every command! And since Big Sis refuses to admit she's dead, Desco wouldn't admit it either! But Desco just told the truth, which means she broke her promise, and now she isn't a little sister anymore and she's going to lose all her power and drop back to level 1 and and and...!"

And with that, Desco begins wailing, great heaving sobs wracking her tiny frame as tears flow freely from all seventeen of her eyes.

It's all right...

[Nano can't help but tear up a little too as she cradles Desco in her arms, patting her on the head.]

Everyone makes mistakes, even family. But families forgive each other, too...

[tyrantball]

Desco sniffs a few times before replying, still clinging to Nano.

"R-really? S-so Big Sis...Big Sis won't hate Desco?"

[all_wound_up]

I don't know...

[Nano can make all the assurances she wants, but the truth of the matter here is that she really doesn't know for sure.]

But I'll still be here for you no matter what.

[Also true, and hopefully comforting. Nano rubs Desco's back, gently petting her hair.]

Desco's tears slowly dry up as she continues to cling.

"...i'm sorry i caused you so much trouble..."

[all_wound_up]

Ssssh... it's okay...

[Now fully in mommy mode, Nano keeps holding Desco close until she's calmed down.]

You can be a handful sometimes, but you're just a lonely little girl who wants friends. I don't mind at all.
