It begins. A strange aura spreads out over Hinoto-Ri, stealing into the hearts, minds, and mouths of every denizen of the city, changing them - embiggening their souls with the power of TRUTHINESS.

For one week, Hinoto-Ri becomes a city where no lies can exist. Who is responsible for this? Will their dedication to ABSOLUTE TRUTHINESS bring them victory...or defeat?

Right, this is getting stupid.

"I believe vanilla or chocolate are universally liked, correct?"

[prettytamer]

"Not universally, but they're pretty basic, yeah. I'll get you chocolate, how about that?"

[badluckhealer]

"I - w-wait - I - I would not mind going for ice cream with you, but -"

Okay wow something is wrong with her face because it feels like it is on fire, and she looks away. Somehow eye contact is weird.

"I do not know why this is so nerve-wracking, and have never b-been in this situation before. ... Y-you are my first friend, so..."

...

Don't mind her, she's going to be dying of embarrassment.

This is a really weird look on Agatha. Midori makes note of it because she doesn't expect to see such a weird event-caused look again.

"Really? Because I like you a lot, and I don't know why more people wouldn't want to be friends with you. I think you deserve a lot of friends! And Heaven can go curse itself because I am taking you out for something fun."

Her face is on fire her face is on fire WHY IS HER FACE ON FIRE. Faces are not supposed to be on fire!

"I - v - oh, all right! I can't win against you when it comes to being stubborn anyway, and I have heard that arguments can result in friendships being dissolved. I do not wish to cause that to happen."

...

She might gladly break the nonviolence rule if she ever finds who caused this compulsive truth-telling. She just might.

"It won't be that bad, I promise!"

With a huge grin, Midori starts to lead Agatha to the nearest ice cream shop. Thankfully, it's not that far away, and once there Midori promptly buys two ice cream cones, one vanilla and one chocolate. (No matter if there's any protesting about Agatha being able to pay for herself. Doesn't matter.)

She hands the chocolate cone to her date friend. "Here you go! Oh, I can get sprinkles too if you want."

Agatha just looks at the ice cream cone like it is an alien thing. Or possibly a rabbit - either way it's an expression of what do. Then she looks at Midori again, cautiously.

"Judging by what you said earlier, you did not forget what I mentioned about my entire family being cursed. We - I - don't want to...I don't know...somehow get other people in trouble by association. ...That's why I've been so against all of this. Friendship and so on."

[prettytamer]

"Makes sense," Midoi replies, and takes a lick of her ice cream. "But I think you're still worth being friends with even if I get cursed for it."

[badluckhealer]

"...That isn't all of it. We're-" She tries not to say it, tries really hard, but...at this stage, if that's what it takes to get Midori to realize how much trouble she's really in, then -

"I don't normally speak of this as it may very well make me a pariah, but as it stands, it might be the only way to make you understand that being friends with me is really a horrible idea. The Sheridans are the last extant family that can be traced back to the first human to ever commit murder - or, well, the last family that's managed to keep screwing up enough for angels to take notice."

Bitter much? Bitter much. She pauses to nom some of her own ice cream.

"...I'm not worth that kind of risk, and I do not wish to see you injured on my account. You - d-deserve better than that."

[prettytamer]

Midori thinks about her answer for a moment, then shakes her head.

"You are worth it. What your ancestors did or your family did doesn't matter to me. It's just you, and I think - I know you deserve to be happy. Even if that comes back to hurt me by some jerk angels that probably will never come here - I don't care, because you're my friend and nothing's gonna change that now.

"I'd hug you but it'd get ice cream on your shirt."

[badluckhealer]

So, those moments when the world just kind of seems to stop after a person says something important - the positive kind of stop, that is, when nothing else seems to really matter. You know the type, the ones that are so popular in TV shows, movies, books, and so on. They might be a bit cliched at this point.

But right now that's totally what's going on for Agatha, and for once she looks like she almost - might - smile. Maybe. Okay, so what comes out is actually a genuinely awed expression, and then she looks away, face red again.

"...You...are really a good person, Midori."

So being completely truthful doesn't make you suddenly able to speak elegantly, all right, okay.

[prettytamer]

"So are you."

Midori smiles brightly at her, then notices one crucial factor they've forgotten.

"Your ice cream is dripping."

...well maybe not crucial.

[badluckhealer]

"-That is so."

Welp. It would be a waste, SO - time to devour ice cream as quickly as possible! Brain freeze and sugar rush all over again, ahoy!

Even so - "Th...thank you."

[prettytamer]

"How do you like it?"

Midori will eat her ice cream at a more relaxed pace.

[badluckhealer]

"It's...Nice."

...Social skills, everyone. This is why you need to learn at least the basics of social skills.

[prettytamer]

"I'm glad you like it, 'cause it would make me really sad to upset you."

Social skiiiills.

[badluckhealer]

"I do not understand why you think I am so easily upset, but...thank you for your regard, just the same."

She's trying. Really.

[prettytamer]

"I don't think you're easily upset, but I just overcompensate when it comes to important people."

Good job, Aggie.

[badluckhealer]

"Im - impor -"

You can almost hear the steam coming out of her ears right now.

"I-I do not understand why it is okay to say things like that so freely! Well, given that everyone is unable to lie at the moment it is understandable, but it is still a surprise to hear that from you. - Uh, not a bad surprise, but it's still a surprise!"

[prettytamer]

"It's a little weird saying everything without thinking about it, but I'd probably call you important even if this wasn't going on, 'cause you are."

How red can Agatha get? This is the weirdest event.

[badluckhealer]

"You...are...very important to me as well."

Cue Agatha becoming a hermit for the next few weeks after this wears off.

"That makes me really happy!"

Midori will come visit her then.

"That's...good, then?"
