"What possible reason could you have... if they're anything like the monsters here, surely people died because of what you did!"

There couldn't possibly be a logical reason for such a thing. Why would this man act so casual about bringing demons into the mortal world?

"Of course they did - but many more were saved because of it. There were going to be demons breaking through anyway - and sending an unarmed human into a fight against a demon is suicidal. The program also contained a function to boost the resistance of people - normally a single attack from a demon would fell someone."

He crossed his arms and growled slightly. "Furthermore, humanity needed to show God that they were willing to break away from Him."

Weighty truths, and Yurick fell silent as he tried to balance them in his mind. His expression clearly showed he was torn now. To both help and harm, that's what Naoya did, and the idea of sacrificing a few to save the many wasn't a foreign concept to the mage.

"It can't have been an easy choice to make, though." His voice is softer, almost apologetic rather than accusatory.

"It was, if only because it was the only option that made sense." It would happen eventually, he'd just... pushed it along.

"And I've seen too many wars, from both the combatant and civilian sides, to hesitate in those kinds of decisions."
