Pandemonium
☢
Who: Everyone [Open]
Where: The Entire City | 18th from 1am to 11pm
Summary: Complete and utter chaos
Warnings: Despair
Music: Break my Soul
Chaos.
There was no other way to describe the mood in the city, the streets filled with civilians attempting to huddle to the closest safe havens. The demons who had walked a fragile alliance with humans, previously content to stay underground due to the fact that they knew they would be pushed back, suddenly filled the streets - attacking on sight when they saw humans showing themselves to be weak. The darker monsters among them relished in this new opportunity, ignoring humanity's pleas and destroying what little remained of the city's peaceful sanity.
Everywhere, the city was a tumultuous mixture of those still stuck in their childish forms, with some back to their older selves trying to fix what they could and reestablish electrical power and barriers. Some demons, siding with humanity despite everything, aided them by keeping the others at bay. Personas were out in full force, swarming the skies and pushing back invaders. But it simply wasn't enough.
Without a network and all of the news outlets completely silent, everyone was left to fend for themselves... and it wasn't pretty.
The Visitors had to act as fast as they could, still in their child forms or not. There was so much to do, and without any directives. No intel sent to their heads explaining the situation. The Wise Men facility was silent. No one seemed to be answering...
[OOC - Here is the City Page. Your character can be anywhere and either look for clues, help people out or simply try to defend themselves. Remember, there is no electrical power right now, and most of the areas of the city are dark.
It's up to you to decide what to do. Shall you go save civilians, reestablish power, go to the MAGI headquarters? The choices will affect the game. There is a planning post in the OOC comm, create teams, decide what to do and help save Hinoto-Ri by following this link. Just know that, tonight, someone you might have thought an ally will declare themselves a foe.
Good luck.]

...Actually it pretty much was even if he'd always thought his fate was to become demon chow at some point or another.]
Wha -- What're you doing hiding in there?!
And no way! This is my Persona!
no subject
[Sitting back on his haunches, Dagran squints up at the Persona before tucking his dagger back into his boot.
if he hadn't been stubborn enough to dismiss Philemon as a fever dream, he might have some backup too. Atsuro - 1, Dagran - 0] Persona, huh? Sounds familiar, but still looks like a demon and that's never good from what my mum always told me. If it's not attackin' though, then I'll let it slide....Sorry for jumping you like that. I didn't nick you, did I?
no subject
[Atsuro backs up a step or two, though, and shakes his head.]
No, I'm fine. ...I've had more than my share of nicks and bruises in the past.
But, uh... are you telling me you haven't unlocked your Persona yet? If you try to take on these guys with just a knife, you... aren't gonna last long.
no subject
Good to know you're tougher than you look, too; no harm meant, but you're not even wearin' armour, soooo...
[Is that a pout? Yeah, totally a pout; he doesn't like admitting when he's not completely on top of things or in control.]
...Y-yeah, I h-- Okay, I haven't, uh, unlocked a Persona. How d'you do that? Do I cut my finger and say some magic words to get one of those giants helping me out? Chop off a toe, offer up a baby?
I mean, not that I'm not good at runnin' things through, but when you're right, you're right. And you're right about me needing help I guess.
no subject
[Atsuro will ignore the comment about his armor or lack thereof his noodly arms are better than any armor possible OK]
It has to be when you're under a great deal of stress. So. Uh. ...I guess, like when you're fighting a demon...
no subject
[Oooh, bad memories. He grimaces for a second, but it never really quite leaves his face.] Alright. We're gonna find a demon, and if you're right with it, you--
That is to say. [Dagran hops to his feet and shuffles a little, looking a little bashful and sour at the same time. what a combo]
Could you tell me how to get one of those things? The final step once I'm toe to toe with one of these things? I'm not too little to protect this place this time, so I need to do this. You don't have to if you don't want to; you probably got heaps to do already, I know! I just don't want to mess this up and have the thing eat me if I say something wrong, you know?
no subject
You don't have to say anything. The moment you're in danger... it should come to you on your own. Don't worry about it.
[Atsuro will motion for Dagran to follow him down the street as he begins to walk again. The thudding of Daidara-bocchi will continue at first, but eventually, there comes a silence as it fades away.]
Daidara-bocchi is pretty intimidating. We'll wait for a weaker demon to come by; something dim enough to think two kids will be easy prey.
...How old are you, by the way?
no subject
For now though, he just ends up looking more embarrassed since Atsuro's being a pretty cool dude and he's just been a dick and this is turning into a habit oh goooood] Thanks. I, er, appreciate you stickin' your neck out for a stranger who tried to kill you and all.
...Strange way of summoning a demon, but if you got one then all I can do is see how it works for me I guess. [Following? Yeah, he can do that even if it's rubbing him the wrong way for now. Just for security, the dagger comes back out and a good thing too; when he realises that it's just them and no more Persona, it puts him on the edge again.]
Die-dara...Oh, you mean Jack the Beanstalk. I guess he'd scare off any game I'd get, yeah...Can't have that, can we?
[The embarrassed compliance turns back into a sulk as Dagran fiddles with his knife.] 'm 14.
More than old enough t'look after myself alone, right? So don't go telling me I'm too young for this!
[Big words coming from the kid currently looking around for demons like he's a clown at a fete.]
no subject
[Atsuro waves this off, because to be perfectly honest, he was pretty sure Daidara-bocchi would have squashed Dagran if he had actually attempted anything too terribly untoward.]
A Persona isn't a demon, exactly. [He has other ways of summoning demons.] It's supposed to be... a representation of yourself. Like a guardian angel or... something along those lines, if you believe in that kind of thing.
We've had younger than you here. It's not like I'm that much older, anyway.
no subject
Eh, not that I'm fussed whether it's an angel or demon or human long as it fights with me, you know? But I guess it's a little bit more comforting to hear that it's not flat up demonic or anything--
What, really? What sort of place is this if actual kids get yanked here? I mean, we're both old enough and ugly enough to hold our own but that's barbaric. [when he rolls his eyes, it's not entirely serious.] Guess I'll have to look after them, too.
[It doesn't take long for something a little more their size (not too small but not too big, just enough to put the fear of god into this little shit) to lumber along; when it comes into view, Dagran crouches almost instantly and keenly watches it as it goes.] Hoy mate, how's that sucker look for size? You think we can pull it off?
no subject
[At least the kid was enthusiastic. Atsuro resists the urge to give him a patronizing pat on the head and just laughs in response.]
Philemon -- that's the guy who brings us here -- has weird tastes sometimes. I can't imagine what he's thinking, but I guess we're the heroes Hinoto-Ri deserves. ...And you can make it up to me by coming out of tonight alive. Preferably with a Persona.
[Obligatory pop culture references made, Atsuro will suddenly halt as he, too, spots the demon. He'll shush Dagran unnecessarily.]
That's a Bilwis. I remember these guys...
[He's typing away on some strange device now as he murmurs.]
They're weak alone, but they apparently travel in groups to steal the crops from farms. Since we don't have any farms here... I guess they're settling for flesh.
...I'd prefer to see you fight a Pixie, but, uh, I guess they probably wouldn't randomly attack people, either. I think... this could be a good chance.
no subject
Heroes...Heroes, huh. [If it weren't for the shushing, he'd probably go on to say about how nice that sounds, but as it is, he just has a goofy look of pride on his face.
Totally ready for battle, yeaaahhh...At least he's whispering when he pipes up again?]
That explains the ream of wheat the daft thing's wearing, and if they handle angry farmers, no wonder they like groups. My family used to deal in cotton and Dad'd get right mad if a demon stole his harvest! Townies are easier than farmers, though...He might be alone for easier prey.
[It's decided then; emboldened by Atsuro at least keeping an eye on proceedings, Dagran up and strides out a few, big steps before cupping one hand around his mouth and yelling just a little too loud.]
Hey, field rat! If you're hungry, come and get it!
no subject
Wait --
[deep sighing.]
H-Haven't you ever heard of something called the element of surprise?
[Atsuro will hang back a little bit behind Dagran, though - making things too easy for the younger boy wouldn't do much for him, Persona-wise. And he could always sling around a Diarahan or two.
The demon, in contrast, whirls about immediately with an expression of slight surprise. When it spots Dagran, it begins to twirl its pitchfork around lazily in its hands.]
Huh? ...Human brats with a death wish, huh? Eh... I've been thinking about watching my weight...
no subject
What's better for a fatso like you than skinny street kids who fight back, then? Come on old man, I haven't got all day!
[Now that he hasn't got the advantage of the shadows, Dagran's shaking. Not enough to drop the knife, and not enough to shake free the bluff he's putting up, but it's there and he hates being this scared in front of someone else daaamn.
It only takes a second after his posturing for the nerves to take over and force him into a sprint at the Bilwis, ducked down low and ready to at least try to bowl it over.
It's what he's good at, after all!]
no subject
[Bilwis successfully bowled over! Too busy talking to do much by the way of offense or defense, it is knocked spinning by Dagran's charge. The lightweight creature floats back up quickly enough, though, twirling its pitchfork with more vehemence now.]
We'll see who's old after your corpse has been rotting a few months!
[A sharp thrust straight towards Dagran's chest!]
no subject
There's a reason laughing during a fight isn't exactly smart though, and he's found out why; even as he tries to correct his charge by turning around, the Bilwis' indignation distracts him enough that he totally messes up his attempt at a slick turn.
And Dagran trips neatly over his own feet only to fall flat on his ass. Cool.
Even as he scrambles to his feet, the quick little demon's already righted itself and gained the advantage; so much so that he only rights himself to come face to face with the pitchfork.
Well, so much for his cool ascendancy into Persona-usership. He squeezes his eyes shut for what seems like forever, praying that this is just another fever dream and he'll wake up in his nice bed--
Thunk. Something's parried the pitchfork, not that he knows what it is. Too busy believing he's dead.]
no subject
[Atsuro's call is pretty useless, as it comes right when the Bilwis has already begun its thrust. There is a flicker of light as his own Persona - a youth bearing a staff from which streams of water flowed, rather than the stone monstrosity from earlier - coalesces into being, but this, too, seems to prove unnecessary...]
...Nice.
Ho! Brought along friends, huh? ...A Persona's not gonna save you now, pipsqueak!
[The Bilwis rears back with its pitchfork once more, and this time, the end gleams with a sickly green light as it thrusts towards the newcomer.]
no subject
Not that it's worth much when he just gets a back full of angular shoulders and glowing orange lines. What the hell is going on with this Persona thing what??? what is it??? Berith pls]
Uh, y-yeah...Yeah! Hey, Persona thing! Beat this tool up!
[He's only too happy to hide behind Berith's pointy shoulders and let the poor mook take the beating, which Berith does all too well before he even finishes speaking.
After all, the bow its holding isn't just good for blocking pitchforks; it's also good for acting like a pinata stick.]
no subject
[Says the demon, taking things a little too literally. The Poison Skewer slashes across Berith, but the chance of poison doesn't manage to land. In the meantime, the pinata stick beans it across the head and it goes reeling back a few steps, its expression dazed.]
no subject
Uuuuntil that Poison Skewer lands, and Berith staggers back in pain, holding its bow-arm and groaning. The sudden movement swings him about more than he'd like to in this situation, dragging out a
shrillcry of surprise.]H-hey, watch where you stick that thing!
[Somehow, Dagran ends up pretty much with the poor persona piggybacking him; if Berith was more talkative it'd possibly tell him to get off, but instead tries to fire off a rather shaky Twin Shot while it has the chance. At least the attack looks neat, even if Berith's still reeling from being stabbed in the arm.]
no subject
Sure, sure! I'll watch real close when I spear you through the face.
no subject
...Its dodge is in no way graceful, hurt arm hanging uselessly now (thanks a lot, weakness to physical strikes wow) and bow held awkwardly in its good hand, but it's still a pirouette of sorts to keep Dagran from suffering the worst kind of death.
Seriously. He'd never live that down.
Painfully aware of how the spin's left its bearer more open than it'd like to admit, Berith hastily casts Silver Wall on him to try and prolong any other kinds of nasty death. The best it can hope for without the ability to fire off any shots is either to bludgeon the Bilwis to death or risk area damage with one of the handy little earth spells it has on roster.
...Bludgeon it is.]
no subject
...Er.
[Atsuro and Enki approach now, a bit cautious.]
I'm not actually sure if you need our help now or not...
no subject
...Neither do I. I'm gonna wait until they're both worn out and finish the little rat off, I think.
[Behind him, Berith spins and grunts as it tries to catch its unwelcome hitchhiker, too blind with rage to bother with spells or anything so sophisticated. It draws another peal of laughter out of Dagran, though his overt cheer might also be down to adrenaline. He's not sure nor does he care.]
Hey, thanks for all your help. I know the last thing you need to be doin' is watching this circus, but I'm glad you had my back.
no subject
[Bilwis aims to poke Berith in the eyes now as it continues to cling on for dear life. Atsuro nods slowly to himself.]
Well... Uh. Congratulations! I think. ...And don't worry about it. Part of protecting the city is making sure no one gets killed by a demon, right?
So your Persona... It's technically a part of you so if it gets beat up too much, you'll be feeling the effects, too. You should be a lot stronger when fighting demons now, though.
...Technically.
[Around this point, the Bilwis bounces off of Berith and thuds along the ground for a bit.]
