[He sighs, brushes his hair out of his eyes - revealing their colour - and stands up.]

[Fumi raises a curious eyebrow at the unexpected coloration of his eyes, but decides to keep quiet for the time being.]

Good. That's much better. You can't fail if you don't try, but you'll also never succeed that way, which is far worse.

It'd be nice to think that I could, for once...

As I've said, get your results first. If they're flawed, revise your experiment. No one ever said science was easy.

No. You're right. It isn't. If I am to be good enough...

[He smiles, very slightly.]

It's time to start work.

[So it's a Shadow. So what. Fumi can't stand people not living up to their potential. She sees nothing wrong with this conversation.]

[Even can't stand it either. And therein lies his problem...

The Shadow starts to move away.]

[Fumi sighs and begins moving along herself.]

[empiricalpride]

[Shortly, from an entirely different direction...

Even's wandering past, but as he sees her, he looks over and gives a nod in greeting.]

[Well now.

That sure is a thing.]

...Don't ask, just answer. This is our first encounter of the day aside from work, correct?

[empiricalpride]

[Even just raises an eyebrow-]

Of course.

[terminally_clever]

Well then, you may be interested in pursuing your yellow-eyed impostor that just left here headed in the other direction about five minutes ago.

[empiricalpride]

[Yellow eyed impostor. Didn't he hear something about...?]

This way?

[And he starts moving.]

Yes. I think he may be headed for the MAGI facility, based on our conversation.

[Which means she's coming with. Ain't nobody gonna mess with her stuff.]

[empiricalpride]

It's as logical a place to start looking as the next.

[terminally_clever]

We should hurry, then. There's no telling what he might compromise.

[empiricalpride]

Indeed.

[Even steps up the pace, his heart racing in an entirely unfamiliar way.]

[And Fumi races right along beside him.]

[empiricalpride]

[Approaching the building, Even spots blond hair heading in through the door - it takes him a moment to register that he's seeing the back of his own head-]

Stop right there!

[terminally_clever]

[Fumi goes even further than that - summoning a rather ominous looking Persona from the Death Arcana card as it floats down in front of her. She is in no mood.]

Do what he says.

[The Shadow stops on hearing both the shouts, and turns around. While it might still look tired and untidy compared to the real Even, there's a spark in its eyes and a twisted smile on its face.]

What's wrong, Fumi? I thought you wanted me to get to work. And you even brought a test subject, too: so considerate!
It's all I'm good for, you know. All that posturing, all my claims - nothing's ever worked. Nothing's ever helped the Organization like I tried so hard to do, despite all the sacrifices, all the lives I created to be thrown away as nothing...
But perhaps even I can make something of value. Give me my other self.

[Even himself is glaring daggers. He's biting his tongue trying desperately to hold onto the little he heard on the network - if you deny their claims, bad things will happen- but how could things get any worse?]

[Fumi grunts, narrowing her eyes at the Shadow.]

If you want your other self, you should come and claim him on your own. You can't expect everything to simply be handed to you without doing any work. Prove you deserve this.

[She glances to the real Even.]
