[She nonchalantly toys with the necklace.]

It's pretty. I wanted it. And no one caught me. So why shouldn't I have it?

I caught you just now! And you shouldn't have it because you didn't pay for it!

[A flicker of surprise crosses her face, and then she sighs.]

Nee-chan, you have to know that the easiest way to get what you want is to take it. Honest, hardworking people never really get ahead in life.

That's not true! If you want something, you should work hard and get it honestly. Stealing things only hurts people. What about the shop owner? He'll lose money because of what you're doing and be unable to feed his family! You don't want that, do you?

So? Then you can just lend them money. My Daddy does that all the time. And then when people can't pay him back, he gets all their stuff.

And pretty soon you have enough to open a casino or something. Then you have all kinds of money, and you can buy anything you want.

[She's still smiling, but it seems almost forced.]

All the other kids in school were soo afraid of him, that they always did everything I said. Even though they didn't like me.

Don't you think it's better to have friends who like you for who you are instead of because of who you're related to?

That sure would have been nice. But since I didn't, since they only pretended to like me, why should I worry about what happens to them? Or to people like them?

[She pulls a very pretty, very expensive diamond necklace from her pocket and offers it to Nano.]

Why not? I have a ton of stuff back home that was bought with dirty money. Is stealing really all that different?
