In Times of Need [Velvet Room Open Log]

It was said that the Velvet Room appears during times of need.

They couldn't be more right. In the mist of the policemen and WAND operatives protecting the door, the rendezvous point was well guarded.

As they stepped in, the group weren't given much information as to what exactly you were heading into. Unless you've been a guest before, this entire experience will be completely new...and even if you've been here, the experience is still new.



As you enter, the music is more somber than usual, the urgent beats different from the slow song of before. The sound is louder too, and looking to the left, a ,grand dark blue piano it placed where it was not before, a man busy playing. His eyes are covered in cloth. Despite the song, the music is oddly calming; as if all the troubles of the city and the strange feeling of dread have melted away. Those who know earth's music will recognize it as Beethoven's Pathetique. A multitude of blue butterflies are flying on the ceiling overhead. The pianist speaks.

"It has been over 90,000 and 999 nights that I have been in this room, confronting my heart to write music. Yet here I am unsure of the count and not understanding why...Perhaps I should begin anew to one night starting now?" There is a certain amount of frustration in his voice, as it appears that numbers are clearly important to him.

The music swells, and a singer speaks next to him, lending her powerful voice to his music.

My duty here ♪

A voice speaks up in the farthest corner. While there are many of you, his voice seems to almost come from everywhere, and even in a low tone, carries enough that you can understand everything.

"Welcome again to the Velvet Room. My name is Igor... and this is Caroline, my assistant. Unfortunately, William is still preoccupied. Tonight, we are being joined by Nameless, and Belladonna. They have come to aid you on your journey. We all reside in this Velvet Room."

"It is good to see you all again."

"This place exists between mind and matter... A room for those who gave forged a contract... For those who are here for the first time, you now must know that in awakening to the power of Persona granted to you by Philemon, you are bound to a contract. You are all now guests of the Velvet Room. You all have the ability to hold multiple Personas and wield their powers...a wildcard ability. However the rules of this world are rather...unique. Even if you were a wielder before, the bridge between this place and your old universe is currently...fragile at best. Those who have the ability to see the Strings will understand exactly what I mean."

"As you continue to live here longer and aid this ailing world, the connection and bonds you forge will reinforce your Destiny String, and allow you to truly unlock your full potential."

"As stipulated by the contact, we will aid you to the best of our abilities."

"There is a storm coming, and while we cannot and do not know what it truly is, we are here to aid you in the troubled times, to hopefully calm your nerves and prepare you for the difficult tasks ahead."

Caroline then goes behind the bar and awaits for those who might wish to talk with her.

[OOC : Welcome to the Velvet Room. There but a few instructions here:
▶ Go to the [PERSONA UPDATE LIST] and fill out the information for your character.
▶ To get a new Persona, you go to [HERE] and then fill out a request [HERE]. Remember you cannot get persona that belongs to someone else! You can request a Persona (or two if you are a previous Persona user) until the 23nd of October. This is a short time, but it is for this event only. There will be another Velvet Room visit after the event.
▶ Requests to Caroline can be posted [HERE] and remember you only get one request per month. You can request a Quest until the 29th of October, or wait until next month.
▶ You can talk with Igor, Caroline, Nameless, Belladonna, hang around, have a drink (what is in that drink anyway?) or just talk between yourselves.
▶ Scorpios cannot enter the Velvet Room. If you are a Scorpio there is something quite different that will happen...they will find themselves in the Aramid room. However, their memory of it will only come back once the event is over. Ergo, the log for that will be put later since it will include interesting information...HOWEVER You can request Persona, just in the Aramid Room and THEY CAN BE A LEVEL ABOVE YOUR CURRENT CHARACTER'S. They will stop working once the event is over.]

Huh. Well, this is nice. The creepy notion of a LeChuck Persona notwithstanding. Boy, he does NOT want to have to be the one to explain THAT to Elaine. Anyway, makes him wonder why he was expecting the demon pirate army to break down his door any second.

Well, as long as he's here. He waves down Caroline. "Heya! Remember that quest you gave me? Well prepared to be dazzled by plaidy... goodness, or something." He whips out the shirt he managed to get after some effort.

...honestly, he's not sure ANY plaid shirt would pass the requirements. Is she really going to think this is fashionable?

[Ruri sits at the bar near the piano and singer with a small package under her arm looking at all the various colored bottles while rubbing her left hand]

This is an ordeal that will probably require our persona, isn't it?

The door in is dramatically flung open as Minato bursts in, landing in a sort of 'tah-daah!' pose. A deep bow, and he heads directly for Igor, flinging himself loosely onto a nearby couch.

"Igor, babe, I love what you've done with the place! It's faaaa-bulous!"

As he sits up straighter, peering at you, he brushes his bangs out of his face, revealing an already-fading black eye.

"So, uh...listen. I never had the chance to ask this before, so Imma get it out of the way now."

All of a sudden, his relaxed attitude vanishes and all traces of merriment disappear from his voice.

"Those thousand years of torture where I was forbidden free will - did you know about them?"

Loken moves stiffly to address Caroline.

"I feel this storm in my marrow. Why?"

The space marine who knows no fear due to psycho-conditioning and genetic manipulation doesn't understand his feelings. At all.

Link is extremely nervous as he moves, but he has something clutched tightly in his hands as he looks for Caroline. Any movement seems to be making him jump, and he's shaking a bit.

"Whoa..." Shura is slowly making her way forward, trying to take in everything in this place: the decor, the music, the people. She had never seen anything like this before. Was this the Persona equivalent of the Cathedral of Shadows?

OPEN but the box she has is for Caroline.

[It doesn't take Jun long before she makes her way over to the bar and slumps down on a seat. She doesn't say anything at all before she slides a box with a lid on it over to Caroline.]

Caroline, babe, I should probably have asked what your, uh, unmentionables looked like but I forgot so I couldn't really tell which were yours.

[After saying that Jun nods towards the box and rests her head on the bar with a sigh.]

...Do any of these belong to you?

[Once the lid has been opened anyone who looks will be able to see that the box is full of mismatched sets of underwear collected from various places in the city.

The rarely seen Demon of Eclectic Objects makes another infrequent appearance! Atsuro barely manages to get the door open while balancing the tributes he's collected for Caroline, consisting of everything from gingko biloba pills to books titled 101 Ways to Improve Your Memory For the Middle-Aged Soul. ...And merely as an afterthought, after helping Guybrush fulfill his request, he had followed up on his odd thought and taken a bit of RAM he didn't really need off his computer. Perhaps she was an android or something along those lines.

Atsuro dumps his pile in a corner and tries not to look too awkward.

"Miss Caroline...! I, ah. Think I've got what you wanted. Somewhere in here."

If he knew anything at all about games, fulfilling side-quests were of the utmost importance.

[At first, Sasha just marvels at the place, taking notes as is her custom. However, then she turns to Igor (since he seems to be the one in charge) and asks:]

So, about this "wild card" ability... we can use more than one Persona, right? Do you know about how we can get more?

Red had...never been in a place remotely like this. The only place this lavish had been the Plateau, and that was somehow less impressive after becoming a champion. In a weird way, it sort of felt like coming home, really. Red had made sure to bring Straw with him, despite the Pikachu's typical trickster behavior...and amazingly, he had already realized neither him nor his pokemon needed to be on guard here. The precaution had been for naught.

"...you'd still better be on your best behavior, mister."

That didn't mean his warning to the Pikachu was less warranted, of course. Straw was already eyeing the bar with an impish glint in his eye...

"This place is... safe... Isn't it? Can't we just stay here?" The ambiance calmed his nerves, but Taiyou's mind remained on the feeling of impending doom ever since he first arrived to Hinoto-Ri, only a few days prior. He tightened his fists into a trembling clench.

"I don't..." His voice broke mid-sentence, as if he was choking on his own words. This wasn't him. But he couldn't stop himself. There were no traces of the normal, hotblooded and resolute Taiyou. "I don't want to follow the contract anymore... Take me home... take me home..."

Open, stuff for Caroline.

It took all of Kaito's will to leave his apartment. He drums his fingers nervously on the counter, with a bowl of melted ice cream in front of him. It says something that for once he felt too sick to his stomach to even consider eating it.

The Exile was, of course, not quite so frightened as to remain entirely holed up in her room. If she was afraid, she reasoned, there must be a reason for it, and therefore there must be an enemy to protect people from. That said, finding this strange cantina had lifted her spirits considerably, even if she was tempted to ask to hide out in here for a while.

She stares at the liquor bottles arranged behind the bar and appreciates the blind man's piano music as she asks an open question to anyone who happens to be listening.

"Does anyone have any idea why so many of us are so afraid?"
