Summary: Minako drags Minato out of bed to explore! And hopefully they'll run into more people on the way...

Earlier...

Oh, how wonderful it was to finally have been allowed to go to their apartments and get some sleep! If he were awake, Minato would have barely remembered staggering through the door and collapsing on his bed. Or futon. Whatever it was. It didn't really matter to him presently, as he was sound asleep, still in his (singed and smokey) school uniform. At least he'd remembered to remove his shoes, though he did seem to have forgotten to lock his door.



Later...

With the sleepyhead up, washed, in clean clothes and out the door, it was time for the two of them to explore! Apartments were all well and good, but there was so much more to the city than mere residential districts. So of course that meant it was time to find the subway station, hop on a tube and go exploring!

Besides, knowing where things were was the first step in finding a good place to get a job, get food to eat, engage in various activities to raise one's social stats, etc...

Speaking of stat raising, two certain residents are 'serving up' some 'sick burns' on these games!!! Elizabeth's words, not Theodore's. He'd rather be at home reading The Man Parade (Vol. I) and moping lamenting his lack of Velvet Roomness. He'd been thinking about turning his temporary home into one coated in blue, but... Well, it just wouldn't be the same without his long-nosed guardian.

Elizabeth thinks they should make a replica of Igor, but Theodore disagrees!!

In any case, the crane game is something they are currently attempting to master, and Elizabeth is sporting three prizes while he has none. He wants a cute doll too.

"Luck is not on my side..." Maybe he needs to play Lucky Chance more. "However, it appears to be your day! If you wouldn't mind, perhaps you could..."

Get him one??? C'mon big sis.

what do you mean 'watch out' don't you mean 'best day ever nostalgia butts all around'

What, no, none of those prizes interest her. She got the last three Jack Frost Dolls, that's really all she needs.

"This is a game you must master on your own, Theo. I am quite sure you'll manage to get your desired prize this time."

To be honest, he'd probably get it if Elizabeth would stop 'accidentally' bumping his arm when he's trying to get the crane to grab it. It's fun, don't hate.

Well.... this is an intriguing scene. She and Minato had both seemed interested in the arcade, so they entered, only to find the attendant siblings already beat them here. Clearly, the best thing to do to help Theo win his prize is to pop up right behind him and watch.

"What are you up to, Theo?" Besides failing to capture any prizes.

Minato refrains from sneaking up on anyone and instead lifts a hand to wave as he wanders over to peer at the game the velvet siblings are playing and the prizes. "More Jack Frost dolls?"

It's a great choice of prizes! Jack Frost is adorable. hee ho!

Ah, it's the Arisatwins. Theodore straightens up when he hears Minako's voice and turns around, frowning. Not because they're there, just the circumstances. He must win a doll at all costs now.

"Elizabeth has won the rest of the Jack Frost dolls in her first run of the machine, and I was hoping to retrieve a Pyro Jack from this game to match. However, the mechanics either slip and drop my prize or they attempt to pick something else up entirely, such as the Abbaddon pillow there." He gestures to the comfy looking pillow sticking out of the stuffed animals and dolls. It's so not cute. The attendant would even settle for an Alp figure at this point, or a Chimera bank. But alas he can't even get a prize he doesn't want anyway. "N-Not that I need any assistance, of course. I just... need some more time."

Jack Frost, she has found, is her favorite among the Jacks --

"I only wished to procure one for myself, as the one you gave me as per my request did not arrive here." But that's probably because she left it, with a somewhat heavy heart, in the Velvet Room before she departed her duties. "Besides, I wished to master this game, and I believe I have done so. I have 'burned' many people at their favorite games here already, and Theo has done his best as well."

...That would probably explain why a lot of the people looked dejected --

She taps Theodore's arm again.

"You're not going to win a Pyro Jack if you don't concentrate, Theo. All you must do is close your eyes and think of the bird catching its prey, extending its claw and grasping it around its hat and tearing it free of the other dolls it is playing amongst."

...After that tap, Minako decides to surreptitiously slip in between Elizabeth and Theo under the pretense of looking more carefully at the prizes.

"I think you should keep your eyes open if you really want to get it..."

Wait, there's the matter of Minato also. Elizabeth had told her that he'd been her guest, so... "Minato, have you met Theo yet?"

Minato nods. "Mm. I met him the first night here..." They discussed their sisters. "Have you met Elizabeth?"

He imagines she probably has, and if not, she's probably at least heard about Elizabeth, since Theo seems more prone to talk about his sisters than Elizabeth is to talk about her family. And either way, once knowledge (or lack thereof) of each other has been established, he thinks he might try to lure Elizabeth away to another game where she won't be reducing anyone (including her brother) to tears...

While he respects Minako's opinion, Theodore will indeed try his sister's suggestion of closing his eyes and allowing himself to "become the bird".

This is an amusing spectacle as the claw repeatedly slams against the glass, finally reaching down and grabbing an ugly Ghoul plush, and Theodore opens his eyes just as it drops into the chute below. Oh boy!! What'd he--

Oh.

That's.

That's nice.

He takes the Ghoul prize and holds it uncomfortably, peering at its designs. It's somehow unsettling...

"It fits you, Theo. I believe it may be your finest catch."

Heheheh. She loves being the older sister. She truly does love Theodore (well, as 'love' goes in the Velvet Room -- who knows if they're even related? Elizabeth has always assumed so), but it's much too fun teasing him.

"I was almost betting on you catching Mara in your grasp, but I suppose that would've been too mighty, even for you."

"I don't think it's too bad..." She leans over him to poke it. The Ghoul plushie, that is. "It's squishy."

w o w. Minato is going to.... not make any comments. About Mara or squishy Ghouls. In fact, he's going to ignore this discussion to fish change out of his pocket with the intention of getting something other than Ghoul, Mara or Jack Frost. There are lots of cute plushies, after all! And they make great gifts. Or bribes.

"... mind if I try?"

Provided Theo, Elizabeth and Minako don't object, he moves to take his place at the crane machine and put the coins in and -- hope his luck stat is high enough!

Theodore doesn't mind at all, and will take his disappointingly horrid prize away. Especially away from Elizabeth, hmph hmph! Minako can stay with him though.

"Mara is an... interesting Persona at our guests' disposal, and quite strong. As unladylike as it is I cannot say I am not proud she has a firm hand on it." ... And considering how comfortable Elizabeth seems with embarrassing him in front of Minako, he's going to assume they did in fact meet. "I suppose you two met on the first day as well."

"My guest has a firm grip on his Mara as well. It certainly is something to... behold."

She is talking about his Persona. Clearly. Elizabeth'll resume a place on the side of the crane game as well, to watch Minato try his luck. Hopefully her perfectly innocent commentary on Mara won't ruin his concentration.

"And yes, we did. I can see why you are so fond of her, Theo."

Minako is pretty much 100% certain no one in this conversation is talking about Mara anymore.

Which means maybe she'll have to talk with Minato, later. Or maybe not. He's probably already drawn his own conclusions by now.

"Yes, we talked before we all had to split up. It was nice to finally put a face to all your stories, Theo!"

Just for you, she'll leave Liz to wonder what was actually said.

Minato tries not to choke at Elizabeth's comment and just concentrate. Luckily, he's better than Theo at not reacting to things, and he keeps his eyes on the prize! ... which happens to be... an Orobas! Quick, everyone do the Orobas pose!

Or not, but in any event, Minato is satisfied with it, once he fishes it out of the prize slot. It really is very tempting to do Orobas' pose, though...

"It's nice for everyone to get to know each other," is his only contribution to the conversation.

Theodore resists the urge to do the Orobas pose - it was just so fun and he was quite the master at it! - and nods, though the topic of meeting people reminds him that he must warn Minako!!!

...

It wouldn't hurt to warn his sister and Minato as well, he supposes. It'll certainly get off the topic of Mara and his fondness for guests and stories pertaining to Elizabeth. And the Ghoul in his hand too. That prize sucks. He'll go for Mara next time and come out with Titania if he's lucky. So while he turns to look at Minako, he's really talking to all of them.

"Speaking of getting to know each other... Master Minako, there is a man I advise you not to meet at all. His name is Urataros and he is..." DESPICABLE AND WANTS TO HIT ON YOU AND HE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS "Unfit to make a bond with. I do not believe he even has the potential for one."

No, he's not unusually mean. He's just looking out for you.

The draw to do Orobos' pose is, in fact, almost too much, and she finds herself striking it --

She must look rather out of place here already in her outfit and certainly the pose does her no favors, so she returns to staring very intently at the prizes as she butts into Theodore's lovely conversation.

"All have the potential to create bonds, Theo." Even them. Margaret had proved that, and she herself was open to new bonds at the moment. "Besides, it is her decision, not yours."

Theo, if you'd never mentioned him she'd probably never have met the guy.

But now that you have, she's probably going to seek him out. "...Why would you say that? Did something happen?"

Well, if Elizabeth is going to do the Orobos pose, then Minato feels he must join in, even if it is only momentarily. Blink and you miss it, and he is back to slouching with his hands in his pockets. Well, with Orobos tucked under his arm, anyway.

He says nothing, though, save for nodding his agreement with Elizabeth. He has absolutely nothing against making bonds with sketchy people! Look at Tanaka, for example.

Tanaka is a completely different matter. He just wanted to use them for modeling and threatened their safety if they said anything about his personal life to the public, scamming them out of 40000 yen and having to deal with odd stories about twisted kindness and eventually learning about his terrible childhood which led up to such a disgusting, morally disrupt person who changed his ways and gave to children so they wouldn't end up as he did, stepping on everyone in his way and having very little friends except for a high schooler.

... In any case, it's completely different!!

"You do not understand, Elizabeth, he... Hm." Theodore can't really say that he doesn't want them to meet because Urataros made his intentions towards his guest rather clear. But there isn't much else. He sighs uncomfortable. "He and I met while at the laboratory that Master Ideo and Master Reiko work at and protect. My first impressions of him, shall I boldly state, were not the best. While you are indeed free to create bonds with whomever you wish, and all the better that you do, I advise you to please avoid having to maintain one concerning him."

"Have a little more faith, Theo. That is why you stayed in the confines of the Velvet Room instead of pursuing her, is it not?"

Elizabeth smiles, and reaches over to pat her brother's arm. It's a little condescending, but her words are true. She's never been the-- comforting one, of the three. That's more of Margaret's deal.

Anyway, issues avoided, Elizabeth will clap her hands together and hug her prizes tighter.

"Now that that's settled! There is a wondrous mall not too far from here, and we have two capable young men to carry our bags..."

...Even if they only got enough money for the month for food-buying purposes. Attendants don't need to eat, so of course the sensible thing to do is to blow on gadgets and prizes they don't actually need --

Minako doesn't seem to have much problem with this idea, however. It keeps them away from the topic of Mara and sketchy Social Links and other better avoided conversations.

"I don't mind. There are a few things I need to pick up myself..." Practical things, like food and toiletries and extra pieces of outfits that hadn't managed to show up in her new closet. ...And maybe some new outfits, too.

Hey, if he is going to be a designated pack mule (which he... doesn't really mind. Shopping isn't his favorite activity, but the people-watching that comes with it isn't so bad), he expects compensation.
