Summary: Minako drags Minato out of bed to explore! And hopefully they'll run into more people on the way...

Earlier...

Oh, how wonderful it was to finally have been allowed to go to their apartments and get some sleep! If he were awake, Minato would have barely remembered staggering through the door and collapsing on his bed. Or futon. Whatever it was. It didn't really matter to him presently, as he was sound asleep, still in his (singed and smokey) school uniform. At least he'd remembered to remove his shoes, though he did seem to have forgotten to lock his door.



Later...

With the sleepyhead up, washed, in clean clothes and out the door, it was time for the two of them to explore! Apartments were all well and good, but there was so much more to the city than mere residential districts. So of course that meant it was time to find the subway station, hop on a tube and go exploring!

Besides, knowing where things were was the first step in finding a good place to get a job, get food to eat, engage in various activities to raise one's social stats, etc...

In a moment of shocking out of characterness Minato shrugs and leaves it up to his sister to answer how they are. "Your playing is very nice "

One could almost hear a woodsy accompaniment...

"We're doing well! Just exploring the city today..."

But she's more interested in the music. "That's an ocarina, right?"

"Thanks!" He smiles at the clear interest.

"Yeah, it is. This is a special one... though it doesn't seem like its magic works here. It's still special to me though, because a friend gave it to me so I could do something really important."

Minato smiles faintly because giving things like that is definitely a special thing friends do, and it's great to always have something to remember someone by even after the important tasks have been taken care of.

"Even if its... magic doesn't work here, it's still good that it came with you then."

"Right! It's important because it came from your friend."

She's still impressed by the instrument, though. She could play piano, and she'd tried recorders in music classes before, but never an ocarina. "Do you know many songs?"

He nods. "I know a bunch of other songs. Let's see... the friend who gave me this ocarina had this one as her lullaby."

He starts playing again, closing his eyes and remembering the first time he heard it. It seems so long ago...

Minato listens quietly, and when Link is finished, he murmurs, "It's very peaceful..."

"That must be why it's a lullaby." Okay, she can't resist teasing Minato a little.

"It's a very pretty song, though...."

"It is. It's one of my favorites."

Because screw the Serenade of Water.

He... completely ignores Minako's teasing.

"I guess you play a lot?"

"Did it take a long time to learn?" She's still interested in the instrument.

[nofairy]

"I do. I've played a lot more recently on my journey, since I can use songs to get around easily or use them for other magical effects... but it did take a bit to learn how to play. Saria gave me an ocarina when I was really little... not this one. This one was from the Princess."

He looks a little sheepish. It's still a little strange to be a hero.

"I see... what sort of things did the songs do?"

Music as magic is... appealing. And a magic instrument certainly seems like an excellent gift from a princess, whatever the reason.

"...That sounds like a nice gift." She's interested in hearing about these magical songs, too.

"One of them made Epona run to wherever I was, one of them let me talk to Saria wherever she was, another of them changed the time of day, and another made it rain. Some of them moved blocks around in dungeons, too. … I don't know why, they just did."

Because game mechanics.

"Hmm." Moving blocks is totally random, but well, game mechanics. What can you do. "They sound useful..."
