Summary: 1/16-1/22. Days of non-stop shooting and Persona battles! Players decide when the fight takes place.

Grand Prix Frenzy had overtaken the city by this point.

We're sorry, you weren't technically part of the main show. However, perhaps, should this go well, they might be able to get you into the giant tournament itself next year!What can they say, the show must go on. And the ratings must be high.

The entire place was filled with cheering spectators and for those who missed out, the usual channels were going to post the entire thing live. Pay-per-view had extra shows and cameras. Or you could go to your local pub. Now that the main show was put on hold, they had all come to see one thing: and it was to see how these newcomers from otherworlds fared in their favorite sport. In a way it was showing the natural pride to them, and watching how they did at it.

Gambling wasn't allowed publicly. So naturally it flourished underground. Odds today were 1:1 for nearly everyone, those looking to make a lot of money were simply out of luck. Today was a day for watching.

From the side ring "Jay Queen" and "Bob Sternhammer", the two ringside announcer, excitedly begin the pre-game talk.

"What a crowd today Jay! You can feel and hear the energy coming right off of 'em!"

"A stadium of Ten Thousand filled to the brim! At the tenth anniversary, this promises to be a Grand Prix unlike any other!"

"Can't blame 'em. Hell, if I wasn't announcing this, I'd be ringside looking at the newcomers. For those watching at home, we're gonna remind you of the few ground rules."

"Tonight's matches are part of the main tournament, Outerworlders division. No returning champions, in fact, if you look to the left there, you'll see Flamin' HellDragon waving next to Seaside Dragoon. Last year's reigning champ, and the sexy female newcomer? Oh I can just smell the steaming flames of passion raising!"

"Haha and a kiss in public! Can you hear the crowd echoing their approval! At this stage they might take away from the real event!"

"Names are drawn based on known skill. Randomization is under the supervision of the Hinoto-Ri Lotto Society."

"Contestants pick their own Evoker ten minutes before the duel, and are asked to fire a blank shot in the air to insure security before it is scanned. Contestants then are brought into their isolation zones and are kept there until they are ready to be brought up to the ring. Since this is a double dual championship, contestants are brought together a full two hours before the tournament begins, and then will get to meet their opponents behind a locked bar twenty minutes before the show begins."

"Turns are taken, each allowed only one command from their Personas."

"As usual, Instant Death Spells are forbidden of usage. You may not kill your opponent. If your opponent is knocked unconscious, they have five seconds to get up. You are only allowed to attack your opponents Persona, even with your weapons and skills."

"Oh! Looks like the national anthem's gonna start."

There was some singing, as everyone stood up. After, the shouts became louder and louder, as a single man dressed in a tuxedo walked in, grabbing a futuristic microphone and speaking in it.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE GRAND PRIX TOURNAMENT IS PROUD TO PRESENT THE OTHERWORLDER'S DIVISION! A SERIES OF BATTLES WITH STRICT SET OF RULES TO SHOWCASE THE NATRUAL ABILITY OF HINOTO-RI'S HEROES!" Dramatically, he leaned in closer, raising his hand as the crowd's enthusiasm broke into an even louder frenzy.

"LeeeeeET'S GET IT oooooooooON!"

The crowed cheered, as a series of fireworks and music tore off into the sky.


"This is Bob and Jay live from the Outerworld Demo Tournament! !"

Minato is a bit amused at the pause before 'practice,' but he nods seriously at the suggestion. "Yes. It may be that the best way to watch out for the Anoli is to just go about the tournament normally at first. So we might as well go for it."

He pauses in thought for a moment. "Did you fight in the last tournament, too?" He didn't watch all the competitions, so he doesn't remember who else was in all of them.

"I... did, yes."

It's probably for the better that Minato hadn't seen it, given how he had... well. Lost.

"That was back before I had a hang of things, though. And, uh, back before I had any personal healing. ...I think I've got the grasp of it well enough to try and strategize a bit better this time around."

"Mm." Minato nods, glad to know that Atsuro does have experience, then, and whatever may have happened in the past, at least he knows more of what he's doing now? Win or lose, any experience can be helpful, right? "Ah, do you mind telling me the sort of personas you have? I'll tell you mine, and that should help us work together more effectively..."

[otakuro]

"Yeah, of course!"

Not for the first time, Atsuro wished his COMP would learn to store his Persona information in addition to his demon stats. Probably had to ask Naoya to mess around with the programming... It was a bit hard to remember the details off the top of his head sometimes.

"...The original Persona I came with is Enki. His attacks are mostly Water-based, though he's actually stronger in the strength department, I think. He's got Water Amp to boost his magic, though. Enki's weak to... Earth, I think, and resists Water."

A brief pause as he sorts through things in his head.

"Oh, he can inflict a few statuses and heal, too. ...The other one I've got was a reward for doing a favor for the guys in the Velvet Room. It's called, um. Gates."

Let's not linger too long on that.

"Gates uses fire and lightning attacks and has a few special abilities to up his own damage. He's weak to Water and Dark, and absorbs Ice. He's also got Endure on him."

Minato nods, quiet for a moment as he does his best to commit this all to memory. Water, Fire and Lightning... Enki and Gates... Well, he's sure he'll forget a detail or two, but at least he's got it remembered for now. As for his own, it takes little thought to remember what they are and what they can do. Perhaps a year ago he would have had more difficulty, but even if personas are just a little different here, how to find them in his mind hasn't changed at all, even if they're lesser in number.

"Mm. The Persona I came with is Messiah. It reflects Light and resist Fire but is weak to Dark. It primarily has Light and Dark attacks and healing. Ah, my second persona is Anubis, and he is strong against dark and light and immune to statuses. He has a fire, water, earth and wind attack, as well as mamegido... And mm, my last persona is Succubus. She's just got status ailments, though she's weak to light and absorbs both physical and fire attacks."

After a pause, he remembers that it's not necessarily the norm to summon more than two here, but he figures if Atsuro wants to know about that, he'll ask.

"Ah... I think we have all elements covered besides ice."

Well, that was just depressing. Atsuro blinks at Minato's recitation and notes to himself that Minato already covered three-quarters of all the elements just on his own; he doesn't allow the casual mention of something unusual to slide, either.

"You have three Personas?"

A short pause.

"Enki actually has an ice attack as well. I guess it sort of goes thematically with the water."

"Oh. Then I guess we do have all bases covered."

He looks mildly sheepish as he shrugs and moves to stick his hands in his pockets... only to remember that these silly outfits don't have pockets. So he settles for sighing and crossing his arms to keep from fidgeting more.

"Ah... I come from a world with personas, and I could use more than one there. I guess it's a hold-over here."

[otakuro]

"A world with Personas..." As far as he knew, there was only one of those out there. And... "Hah, this is probably a stupid question, but you don't have a sister named Minako or anything, right?"

Who would name their kids Minato and Minako?

He blinks and then nods. "Mm. She's my twin... I guess you've met?"

Parents of twins who think it'd be cute! That's who.

"That's right! We've, uh... met in passing a few times. She told me a lot about your world, actually, when we were discussing theories and that kind of thing about this place."

Never mentioned that she had a twin, though. ...A twin that behaved nothing like her.

She sucked his bounciness right out of him in utero. She's a vampire, Atsuro. Watch out!

"I see. Did you come to any conclusions? Or just more theories?"

[otakuro]

Soon, he too will be as stoic and calm as Minato. It will only be a matter of time.

"...Well. We came to the conclusion that we needed more experience to figure things out, I think."

He sighs a bit though he seems amused in a way. It really is hard to figure out mysteries like this without really diving in and gaining experience with the ways of this world. "Ah... Well, perhaps we'll be able to puzzle out more answers soon. The new monsters and buildings that have been appearing... maybe there are clues there."

[otakuro]

"Yeah. About that..."

Atsuro pauses for a few moments.

"Maybe now's not the best time to discuss it, but it almost seems like they're bringing in new... stuff to keep us from getting bored. I don't know if butterfly-mask is responsible for it, but it doesn't seem like it will be much help in saving this world. ...Whatever it is that needs to be saved."

Minato frowns, nodding slowly. "I hadn't thought about it like that. It's an odd way to keep people... entertained with everything else going on here..."

"So... if that's how it is, what's the real point of us being here, then?"

This is mostly a rhetorical question as Atsuro throws Minato a shrug.

He is quiet for several moments, thinking about what he knows about this place, what he doesn't know and things like what he knows about Philemon and personas in general. He finds himself thinking back to conversations with Elizabeth about these very subjects, but... there doesn't seem to be much point to bringing any of that in now.

"I wonder..."
